FF:NZ SWAP MEET

Have you seen those Lost City-somthing children's books? I didn't know they existed until Kitt told me. Palpy has offspings! OMG!!! Oh the horror! [face_shocked]

 

The worst EU book I ever read was Courtship of Princess Leia. Luckily, the details of it have been purged from my mind, but here's what I remember (warning: spoilers) :

Leia: Oh, a real life prince! With his own planet and he's really rich! I'm sorry Han, I know we had a bit of fun in the past, but you can't compete with a PRINCE!!!

Han: Well, then I guess I'll just have to abduct you!!!

Chewie: Rrroowwww [translation: Leia, do you want me to beat this psychotic stalker previously known as Han Solo into a pulp?]

Leia: No, that's okay, I don't mind being abducted. I'm sure my new boyfriend will rescue me. (giggles)

(cut to the end)

Han: Guess what Leia! I've just discovered I'm actually a prince.

(cue laughter)

Han: No, it's true, I swear! I'm the prince of Corellia!

Leia: Well, then, as long as you're a prince, then that has satisfied my shallow snobby taste in men. Let's get married!!

(everyone lives happily ever after)

The moral? Don't let male sci-fi writers attempt to write a romance novel.

My God, now I remember more than I want to about that book. The way he wrote some of the scenes was [face_eek]. Remember when Leia first kissed that Prince-type person? That'll give Kitt a good nightmare. [face_silly[

 

She kissed him?! must purge from mind ...

The christchurch swapmeet went well, a good turnout and heaps of cool collectables, picked me up a heap of new toys to play with got some photos as well, but they're on 2 different cameras and I'll have to finish the film on one of them first.

Excuse my gate-crashing, but...regarding the Papatoetoe swap meet: SAMRC stands for something like South Auckland Miniature/Model Racing Club. As far as I know, they predominantly deal with remote control and slot cars, and are unlikely to have anything near the range of Star Wars and Sci-Fi collectibles that we will have in Grey Lynn (but then, I'm biased on this matter ).

They do say Toy Fair, so they MAY have some Star Wars toys amongst that, but if you have to choose only one to go to I'd stick with Grey Lynn since that's being held by Sci-Fi and Fantasy people.
