TFN Fanfilms convention? Meet your favorite board members!

Just chillin in the chat room and started kicking around the idea of a fanfilm convention. Maybe get something together somewhere and see how many of us would actually go. Swap ideas, meet people, kill each other, etc. Whaddya think?

This would be cool... we could have our own little film festival... the only problem would be the fact that some people live in Australia, UK, Mexico (ok, just me) and really don't want to spend the money... but I think it should be in Texas because 1) it's close to me 2) It's more in between the UK and Austraila than is california... and 3) flights are cheap.

ohio....thats a long trip...maybe i could justify it if the date coincided with the Origin gaming convention...like...the days before/after???

but any location brings bigger fish.

who has acsess to a screening location.

who could get a digital projector.

My school's auditorium has a huge screen, and the library has a rentable projector...but im in a bad location.

my school has let out the auditorium before for a local film[sabienmeetshunt.com] and may be convinced of this, but, I repeat

It may be a good idea to have this sorta be hosted at a bigger convention. Have a big both and a room set up where the films play. The creators would hang out at the booth or in the screening room. After you viewed their film or films, you could have a question and answer session with the creators. You might could even talk some of them into giving a little "How to make a fan film." seminar. Just a thought. It would probably be on the west coast, because I believe alot of fan film makers live out there.

I vote for the East Coast.

 

If you wanna do this kinda thing, either make it coincide with Celebration 2 (and give a Fan Film awards of our OWN, dammit), or throw it in the midwest. I'm in Iowa, too, but it's not for that reason i think that location would be good. St. Louis, Minneapolis, Chicago, or my town of Cedar Rapids would all be good places to throw a weekend bash. My town hosts a huge Anime convention every year, so i know it can be done.

Lar, i'd be interested to know what city and school you're reffering to.

Put me down for a SoCal vote.

But since we will probably never decide on a location, why doesn't each Moderator or Admin hold one in his or her respective region.

They could be held simultaneusly on a Saturday afternoon. Perhaps we could find a way to synchronize them or better yet have a live video stream over the net. Then people in remote locations could click on and enjoy the festivities.

Yeah...that would be a lot of trouble, but it would be worth it.

 

ooh yeah what exfilms said would be cool... to be honest a fanfilm only convention will never happen- getting people to spent the $$ for travil most likely wont fly, however if it was in areas all over the country (world?) that might work

or if it went a long with some other big event (eg comicon, celeII) that might work also

I say England, I am always looking for an excuse to visit. And if it is in England, I will supply the Orange Tango.

 

Is Orange Tango associated with England? I know we have weird adverts on TV for them, but is there something I don't know?

 

I don't want to get very off-subject, but I love Orange Tango and the only place I have ever seen it in in England. It is possible it is in the US or elsewhere, but Tango will always have a place in my heart

...and no I do not have a drinking problem.
