Ohio State, a team with a new coach and no post season to play for, just went undefeated this year. This was the last year for Wisconsin to have a good shot at the Rose Bowl. And once the program gets settled in with Meyers recruits, I think it will be Ohio State and the rest of the Big Whatever +4 for quite some time. Unless Meyer has some health issues again soon. :p

Well, Ohio State will be the favorites, but they're never going to have a stranglehold. So there's one other program in the conference overshadowing Wisconsin? How many have the potential to overshadow Arkansas in the SEC? Having to beat Ohio State each year won't be fun, yeah -- but having to beat Alabama and LSU each year won't, either.

Big get for their program- lots of attention, lots of recruits they'd never dream of. Reminds me a bit of when Calipari went to Memphis, although WKU can never compete in the way Memphis did, different sport. Also, like Calipari, I expect Bobby to be on the first plane out as soon as a major conference comes calling- be it Maryland, Kansas, Indiana, or anyone who will have him in 2014.

My guess is a lot will depend on how far this job goes to rehabilitating his reputation (what little there was to begin with) after the way he had to exit his last one.

Comparing Memphis basketball to WKU football is insulting to Memphis. They actually had a pretty decent basketball legacy pre-Calipari. Nice get for WKU, though.

Yeah, if you're WKU, why wouldn't you do this? If you're a program with no history of winning, why not take a chance on a guy like Petrino and give yourself a chance to inject some life into your program.

Best case scenario? He never gets back to Louisville/Arkansas levels, but he wins 7-10 games every year, and takes you to a Bowl Game every year, raises your profile, but never gets big enough to erase the toxicity surrounding him and no one wants to hire him away.

Worst case scenario? He gets involved with another scandel and tarnishes the name of the WKU football program that they've worked hours to build? Or he has one very good season, raises the profile of the program, and then jets to a better/bigger school (USC?)?

I don't see a way this turns out all that bad for WKU.

I caught the very, very tail end of the Boise State - Washington game. I'm more interested in the "good" bowls. :p

Did anyone watch the LSU/Clemson game yesterday? I don't really care about either team but the ending was really exciting!

On Wisconsin! Get the roses today!
