The English longbow was often made of a wood called Yew. A trained Bowman could use a Longbow effectively at a range of 150m, with the ability to pierce through plate armour. The Longbow was crucial in the battle of Agincourt where 500 English footsoldiers defeated an army of French mounted knights.

Just as an aside I want to add a few more dimensions to this:

    * Ask a question, and others must try answer correctly, eg: What are the names of Jupiters moons?

    * Jeapardy: Give us the answer and we state the question. eg: "Holder of the 100m sprint record"

This could get a little messy with answers and questions flying everywhere so try asnwering someones question before posting your own.

A bit more than 6 metres.

That question reminds me of dissecting a rat in biology lab last year. We had to remove the small intestine, and that thing just kept on coming!! I couldn't figure out how that rat could fit all that inside it's gut!

    Keeping with this theme:

    Q. How long is all the DNA laid end to end in one typical human cell?

DNA question. The human genome contains 3,000,000,000 bases each being about 2nm long,in each cell but depending on the person ie. tallest person has more cells more DNA than shortest person. Depends on lenght, but in lay terms to the moon and back. If I remember correctly.

    Q. Where would you find a harmonic balancer?
