The First Ever EUC Starfighter Draft - 2004

Welcome, everybody, to the Starfighter Draft! This game has been given the greenlight by Genghis himself, so come along and join in the fun.

A little backstory first:

About a year and a half ago, there arose a game in the Star Wars Community Forum called The Jedi Draft, created by Darth-Horax. In the game, General Managers would draft a team of Jedi from a pre-determined list of candidates. Jedi Heroes like Luke Skywalker, Yoda, and Mace Windu were all on the list, along with some of the baddest Sith to ever terrorize the galaxy: Darth Sidious, Exar Kun, etc. Once teams were finished, they were pitted against each other in combat to see who would arise as champion. Pretty soon, the Draft rose to become one of the most popular games in the SWC, and remains so to this day.

Not long after the Jedi Draft began, I created the Starfighter Draft. Played similarly to the Jedi Draft, in the Starfighter Draft, GMs build their teams selecting from some of the greatest Starfighter Pilots in the Star Wars Universe: Wedge Antilles, Baron Soontir Fel, and Corran Horn were all among those able to choose from. However, the SFD never received the amount of success as the Jedi Draft, mainly because a lot of knowledge about Starfighter Pilots are found outside the movies: In the EU.

Which is how the Starfighter Draft ended up here. I believe, and Genghis agreed, that you crazy people of the EUC possess a greater knowledge of Starfighter Pilots, and would be more welcome to the fun of the Starfighter Draft. So, I'll say again: Come along and join the fun.

This will primarily be a trial version of the Starfighter Draft, just to see how it flies. Hopefully, it will receive a warm welcome, and future Drafts will be able to be held. If you would like to see what the Starfighter Draft is all about, please check out the following links:

Now, enough chit-chat, how about we get down to some action?

First off, we will need 12 players to act as GMs. As mentioned above, it is the job of the GMs to Draft selections from the Draft Roster (which I will post once we have our 12 GMs), and try to build the best team possible. As soon as we have our 12 GMs, i'll post the Drafting order and hopefully we'll be able to get started. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to PM me, or just check the links I posted above.

Also, we will need 3 judges who will be responsible for deciding the winners of the match-ups once the competitions get started. I'll explain more about the competitions and how they work a little later on down the road. I would like it if anyone who is interested in being a judge to please send a PM first, and I will fill them in as best I can

I'm willing to judge or GM, if I can get one thing addressed:

How to handle the problem of ship equality? Does Baron Fel fight in an Interceptor, a Defender, or a clawcraft? Do we count against Carth Onasi because his ship is weaker technologically than Luke Skywalker's? Do we include Firmus Piett with the Executor?

However, as a Jedi Draft participant, I'm willing to be a part of this in one form or another.

 

Valid questions, Firke. Back when the SFD first started, I tried to find ways to best incorporate Starfighters and their crafts. Generally, during the competitions, a pilot is judged on the ship he is best known for. For instance, Pash Cracken is usually judged in his A-Wing, Broak Vessery in a Defender, and so on. Again, this is a trial version, so I will gladly accept any suggestions.

As for Piett and the Executor, I don't really think that the Executor qualifies as a "Starfighter".
