The render timing isn't too bad. The school I go to uses mudbox a lot, why I don't know. Guess I'll find out when I get to taking the modeling and rendering classes.

@Today_v4: awesome renders, I really love the color grading!

I posted a bit of this on Facebook, but I'm having some issues with motion tracking and I figured this would be the best place to come.
I'm tracking 1920x1080 footage in both Icarus and boujou and in both programs I seem to get a perfect track. My problem is when I import the tracking data in to Maya or even After effects for that matter. The camera isnt even close to matching up. I assume it's something in my pipeline between the tracking software and Maya, but I'm really not sure.

    Any Ideas?

Electro, I'm interested in your tracking problem. I've acquired syntheyes, used it on a few things trying to learn the detailed tricks, and have gotten pretty reliable data transfers to both AE and 3DSmax.

I did a short track for an AE fire-addition, and the result was very weird, but it seemed to line up okay in SE and not terribly in AE. Tried again with a more supervised mode of tracking, and the weirdness went away. Trackers can get a solution that makes the points look like they're moving correctly, but in reality the camera-move as calculated is inside-out of what the real-world camera was doing. A bad example ("bad" because I think tracking software is actually pretty reliable on dolly-shots, but I'm explaining 'inside out'...): a dolly-left aimed south gets solved as a dolly-right aimed north.

I've only tried to track from MatchMover to maya. It seems to be okay, but not perfect. What I was recommended was to just track it myself in maya. What I would do is set up the camera + grid, and use the grid to align the footage.

A few things I have been working on lately:

Car Animation for "Fundamentals of Animation". Assignment was to drop a car, drive off, and then stop. Teacher wanted a slightly exaggerated look.

    Car Animation Youtube

And here is what I have so far for a small UDK game level. It's a small storage room.

-this is what I was graded on, will hopefully add breakdowns when I get more time

    Because I can work

Okay, so I felt like trying out some more human rigging(haven't done it in maya since last August). It took me about 7 hours, and included 2-3 League of Legends games and a pizza run, but I rigged and animated a character I got from a maya book I have. (The book goes over the character modeling part as well, but I just wanted to rig it). I am pretty happy, I was able to throw a bunch of stuff in the rig that I have never been able to do before. I had a little issue with the "Roll" control on the right foot though. I also learned a few things I did wrong (er, should have done slightly different early on in the rigging process). I also didn't manually weight it, but I felt the auto was good enough for what I needed. Anyway, here is the video.

Finally got the kinks out of those motion tracking tests I've been working on.
I'm rendering a few second animation of a lego starfighter assembling then taking off from my desk.

Here is what I have been working on recently. I am currently taking Character Creation at my school. Week one I had to make a 3d model of my head. For the final, we have to model an entire character. I am modeling Ahsoka Tano for my character.

Had some time during lecture so I made this completely in ZBrush:

Here is a turntable of my Head:

What does it mean "obtained on the web"?
In other words it's not your MoCap data? If so, What's the point?

LightWave doesn't exactly have a 'make mocap magically work' button. BVH import brings in bones only: If you just drop a character on top of it straight after import it's not going to look like that.

Edit: Here's the original BVH http://www.beyondmotion.com.au/free_motion.html I look forward to seeing you effortlessly apply it to an unweighted character without using any 3rd party plugins.

Lol I've been doing this 5 years and I don't know any program that has a "make awesome button" to date.
But advertising as weight-painting or motion capture are two completely different things.

It does say pretty clearly in the first and last lines of the description that it's not my motion capture data. Is your issue primarily with the title of the video "mocap 1234"? It's a 5 second video, I didn't exactly put much thought into what I was going to call it. Yes, I suppose I could have called it "weighting and rigging 1234".

I have other, even less descriptively named videos on youtube. For instance "(unnamed)5" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h4wtECWSTnU&feature=mfu_in_order&list=UL
