Winter 2011 Role Playing Forum Awards

Welcome to the Winter 2011 RPF Awards!
Please be sure to review the entire post (even if you?ve done this before) to ensure that everything runs as smoothly as possible.

Purpose of the Awards
Our role playing forums are very special ? unique in their quality and community. We come here to play, but also to work. It?s not easy to build a successful game or navigate through the galaxy with a character. It?s especially challenging now, with three distinct forums dedicated to different aspects of role playing. Many of you dedicate significant amounts of your free time to make this place the best it can be.

These awards have been established in recognition of the extraordinary efforts of you ? our users. The VIPships and publicity awarded to winners are meant to serve as both a reward for a job well done and a way to increase visibility. It is hoped that others will learn from their example, and that they will continue to serve as leaders of these role playing forums.

How it Works
Awards are held every six months.

The four categories for awards are:

Best GM
Best Roleplayer
Best RPG
(Star Wars and Non-Star Wars)
Best New RPG (Star Wars and Non-Star Wars)

New RPGs are defined as any active game less than three (3) months old and have over 50 posts at the time of nomination (once a game crosses the 50 post threshold, it may be nominated so long as the window to do so is still open). RPGs must be active (no locked threads may be nominated).

Voting will consist of two rounds:

Round 1:
[ul][li]Lasts for five (5) days[/li]
[li]A time to nominate any active RPG or player[/li]
[li]Once a thread/player has been nominated once, please refrain from nominating them again (one nomination is sufficient to save a spot on the ballot)[/li]
[li]Users may not nominate themselves for awards[/li]
[li]All users may make a total of two (2) nominations per category[/li][/ul]
Any RPG that wins an award becomes ineligible for next season's awards, to ensure fairness and variety. Any players who win awards will be ineligible until the next year.

Round 2
[ul][li]Begins immediately after the results of Round 1 are posted[/li]
[li]A list of all the nominees will be compiled for members to pursue[/li]
[li]You then have seven (7) days to PM your votes from the choices to the host[/li]
[li]Users have the option of voting for up to three (3) people in the Best RPer and best GM categories, and up to two (2) games in the Games categories[/li][/ul]

***Campaigning (ie, soliciting votes and/or nominations) at any time during the awards, in any thread, in any forum, is absolutely not allowed!***
The winners will be announced at the end of Round 2.
Prizes
As always, the part you've all been waiting for.

The winning GMs and Roleplayers will each be awarded VIPship (with the ability to choose custom colors) for one week. In addition, they will earn a place in the "RPF Hall of Fame" in the Community Centre. The winning RPGs will receive a special place in the introductory sticky thread, as well as the right to the title of "Best RPG," until the next season's winners are announced. Moderators are allowed to win Awards, but their prize will be limited to recognition alone. When a moderator places in the Best GM/RPer category, the top three contenders will be recognized, with the two non-mods getting colors. Two non-moderator users are guaranteed colors for every awards season.
The "RPF Stars" Awards

Winners of the RPF Stars Awards will not receive titles or colors, but they are encouraged to place their titles in their sig or bio. The idea behind these awards is to provide recognition for exemplary members of our community who stand out in interesting and innovative ways.

The radio blared in the background as Xander fidgeted and tweaked the various parts of his track car.
Tons of good stuff has come from DT. I just felt this scene was the most meaningful out of most of them.

Best GM:
1. LordTroepfchen (I realized that when you enjoy the posts of your Co-GM more than your own, he might deserve a nomination. Also he is doing more with SotF than I do and he is doing it very good)
2. Spycoder (For creating the fastest moving, most dedicated game we had here for a long time. And bringing a difficult concept alive with a flawless execution)

Best RPer:
1. Jedi_Padawan Leigh (I look forward to every post she does in SotSo and I loved her deep and well made cinematic posts in TORR, so this was a no brainer)
2. MyrialofKanz (Myrial was simply our best villian we had here in the last years. Creepy, evil, human and deep. I enjoyed the hell ozut of her posts. I also love her addition to SotF. not quantity, but very convincing quality are her trademark)

Best Star Wars RPG:
1. -
2. -

Best Non-Star Wars RPG:
1. Darker Tides (See above. It is fun, fast and very unique. Even if I would nominate my own games, I would choose this one over them, as it isn´t a sequel like mine who draws from the success of the first part. It is fresh and new and very, very exciting.)
2. Excelsior (Superheroes are tackled from time to time over here. Many games had a lot of charme, but Ramza´s is the first one I felt like it could be from a comic. Including the better known elements of various universes and the same time not "spam" us with obscure elements. Great creativity. I hope I find time to join, soon!)

Best New Star Wars RPG:
1. -
2. -

Best New Non-Star Wars RPG:
1. -
2. -

RPF Stars Awards
1. Most Entertaining GM: LordTroepfchen (as I said above, I love his posts)
2. Most Educational GM: -
3. Best Game Design: LordTroepfchen (His hand was all over the two ASotS sequels and he had the best OP in years over in GDG. If we vote him, I expect he does that game!)
4. Best Character Design: MyrialofKanz (see above. Myrial is a real literature villian, rising above any I have seen lately)
5. Best Opening / Most Potential At Opening: Destiny´s End (It didn´t go so well, I am afraid, but hell it had potential to be amazing and I hope it recovers)
6. Most Improved RPer: Mitth-Fisto (I have always been a fan of his, but hell, his posts have grown into perfectly attuned to any game he does. ToRR, SotF, basically any fgame it is even more a pleasure than in recent years. So a true Improved pPlayer award, as this guy actually improved without it being necessary)
7. Most Helpful Person in the RPR: LordTroepfchen (not quantity again, but GDG is basically a good place to do games and he is the one who did the best critics there. Spot on, insightful and very constructive, I envy him for the eye for games)
8. Most Social User: SirakRomar (for her Vox Popoli thread she deserves a bit of recognition, Sarge will win anyway :p)
9. Most Likely to Annoy the Mods: -
10. Most Disgruntled Oldbie: LordT memoria award. For his interview going back to the years of being disgruntled.
11. Best Single Post* (include link): I read it yesterday, but it isn´t evne posted yet, so I´ll wait for this one.

Best GM:
1. Trieste (Elite League Limmie) has been running since May of 2010. At some point, you have to understand that a good GM is a large part in a successful and long running game, which Elite League Limmie is both.)

Best RPer:
1. Sith-I-5 (Sith's RPing style is something you don't comne across everyday. He has powerful, funny posts that mix extremely well into any given storyline. His posts are well timed, thought of, and written. A very rare and gifted RPer we have in Sith-I-5.)
2. Mitth_Fisto (A RPer who can stay true to his character's storyline and create amazing backstories that mix so well into the current storylione.)

Best Star Wars RPG:
1. Game on "Do Not Nominate List" (Elite League Limmie)

Best Non-Star Wars RPG:
1. N/A

RPF Stars Awards
1. Most Entertaining GM:
2. Most Educational GM:
3. Best Game Design: Elite League Limmie (The length of running for this game speaks of good design in and by itself.)
4. Best Character Design: Mitth_Fisto (Havah Jeth...the character has unreachable depth and is a great joy to read.)
5. Best Opening / Most Potential At Opening:
6. Most Improved RPer: Coffee_Ninja and JediFalcon (Both players have really come into their own as RPers.

Coffee_Ninja has got back into her "zone" after being out of RPing for some time and you can tell that she is back to being at ease with RPing. Her ability to storytell is amazing. Her skills at RPing are top-notch when it comes to depth of character and backstory and you get the feeling we're only starting at the surface of her in-depth skill base as a RPer. Her posts tell it all.

JediFalcxon has really stepped up her game in RPing: her posts are flowing together and she's recently taken on a leadership role in building an X-Wing in the game. Her skills have improved leaps and bounds. You can't say enough at her improvement. Just excellent!)

7. Most Helpful Person in the RPR: Sith-I-5 (Always willing to help, no matter what it is.)
8. Most Social User: Sarge (as usual) ;)
9. Most Likely to Annoy the Mods: ME! What? I'm giving them job security. :p

NOTICE: Despite being nominated for Best GM, I do not deserve it so I request that if there was actually anyone that was going to vote for me, do not do so. Vote for anyone else as every other nomination is more worthy of the title then I am <.<

In compliance with a request I have received from Sarge221, his name has been removed from the Best GM ballot.

I'm at the stage of following the "Best Post" links. CPL Macja's was, wow.

I had high hopes for mine when it was the only nomination, but now its down to the three contenders. Thanks, Mitth for bringing the Corellian Sand Hamster to a wider audience! :p

Part way through Sir Draco's post, and will pick up the rest of it tomorrow.

Considering several players are just returning or aren´t even aware the site is back on, I think a prolonging of the deadline might be a good idea.

And yeah: Voted

I can certainly do that. When I was scheduling I forgot that I overlapped with Thanksgiving here in the US.

So I'll extend the deadline until November 30th at 6 PM Board Time (PST). Cheers.
