Yes, odd title, but here's the deal.

Most of you know that in January, I'll be leaving this realm for a year and a half in parts unknown.

The parts unknown is what this thread is about.

Basically, my floormates here at BYU have started a pool that has spread to family, friends, and a few boarders. You guess where I'll be going and, in two weeks, when I find out, if you're right, I either send you a considerable amount of candy or the money to get some.

Will you have internet access, and what is the purpose of this journey??

 

Okay, to explain, I have decided to do a year and a half of missionary work for my church. I will not be allowed internet access and (*gasp*) I cannot see Episode II when it comes out. But, anyway, in approximately two weeks, I will be notified of where I'm going and will leave sometime in January. Whoever guesses correctly where I'm going to go gets candy.

A friend of my sister's did missionary work in the Northwest--but I'm getting a sense that you are needed in the Northeast--is a region a good enough guess? I mean if someone can name an entire country as their guess, then can I name a region?

I'm thinking New York or Mass. or New Hampshire, or Virginia, or Connecticut, somewhere like that.

Mar, my favorite cousin, MaryAnn (wife of the guy who guessed Leipzig)guessed Prague. She spent two years there as a student and loves it.

Silent_Jedi and Fluke_Groundwalker, you have to narrow it down to one. And S_J, they won't be sending me to Mass. since I'm from Boston and they only send you to your homestate usually if it's an extenuating circumstance. (Such as my friend Nick who is a paraplegic, but otherwise fully qualified for missionary work; he served in Salt Lake City) But, anyway, keep that in mind and repost your guess.

 

Seeing that your a Mormon, I change my guess to Canada. I met alot up there, althought here I have many friends that are also Mormon

 

Okay, I forgot to put up this caveat up: you can't do it by area, only specific places. I had a lot of people guessing "South America" or "Europe" and while that's fine in general, it won't work for the competitive nature of this pool. So, if you could guess somewhere in Canada, that would be helpful. And Jedi-Jae has to specify which third-world sinkhole.

My friend Emily just got called to Bulgaria! She got the letter last night!
