    Vampire the Masquerade: Downfall

    The Story

The world is on Gehennas door step, there have been rumours of the fathers returning, stories of Caine spottings across western Europe. The number of thin bloods have been rising, all of this signals the end of not just Vampires but the world. The Antediluvians, the 3rd generation of vampires and thus the most powerful, are going to rise and feed on their descendents.

This RPG is set shortly after the events from Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines but several of the characters will make an appearance. You do not need to have played the game or even know anything about it! I can supply you with most of what you could ever need, most. I will do a big post with all the vampire clans on it but there are a lot so it will be a bit daunting, but please skim them and find one you like, don't be put off by it.

    Rules

    1)No profanity
    2)Don't get too bloody!
    3)Three characters per person
4)No god-moding, (just because you're immortal doesn't mean you can't die, (yes I am aware of that paradox))
5)PM all character sheets to me!
    6)Again, all sheets to me!

    The Masquerade

A Masquerade is a farce, intended to deceive and conceal. The vampiric Masquerade is a shared conspiracy of the Camarilla to keep their existence unknown to mortal human beings.
The Masquerade began in the 15th century as a response to the Inquisition. Even though there was an ancient tradition of self-concealing among vampires in the Dark Ages, in many cases common people knew or suspected their existence and their works . In any case, most people superstitiously believed in many supernatural entities including vampires.
However, as the Church became more and more powerful, the Inquisition chased and destroyed many vampires, until they became convinced that the only way to survive would be to deny their own existence.
The Masquerade was taught as law in the Camarilla from then on, and took advantage of the Age of Enlightenment, by reinforcing the idea that vampires are a fruit of ignorance and superstition. By the 19th century, most educated people in the West laughed at the suggestion that the vampires of old legends were real creatures.
Any humans that might run across vampires performing typically vampiric acts will usually disbelieve their own eyes. The Masquerade requires that humans who know about vampires be promptly killed or otherwise rendered unable to spread the news. It also means that a vampire that breaks the Masquerade will have to fix it or face severe punishment. The Masquerade also imposes a rule that before you sire a human you must seek the permission of your Prince, this is a method of population control, breaking this rule results in both the death of the sire and his/her childe.

    The Camarilla

The Camarilla is the major governing body among vampires set up to uphold the masquerade and protect vampire society from humans. The Camarilla believes that all vampires are a member whether they wish to be or not and thus are all expected to follow their rules. The Camarilla's headquarters is in Weis, Austria however each of their territories is controlled by a Prince who in turn instates Barons to control towns. The Camarilla is one giant pyramid scheme where one human was sired to do another's dirty work, who in turn sired another to do his until you truly don't know who's left at the top.

    The Sabbat

The Sabbat are the complete opposite of the Camarilla, believing that vampires are superior to humans, who they think are nothing more than cattle. Many in the Camarilla would call the Sabbat a group of psychopathic maniacs who will bring about the end of vampire society. They are not far off the truth, the Sabbat do not uphold The Masquerade, a principle they despise more than the Camarilla themselves but, alas, Vampire politics are a hor

    THE CLANS

    Brujah
The Brujah are inheritors of a majestic and ancient legacy, which is unfortunate. Tonights Brujah seem less like a clan and more like a mob. Punks, terrorists, revolutionaries, criminals, and the like make up the Brujah; the clan seems to be united in nothing save its contempt for the institutions of vampire and mortal society. Well, this is not entirely true; Clan Brujah are among the most savage vampires, and the most trivial slight or annoyance may trigger a howling Brujah frenzy. The Brujahs disunity keeps the clan tenuously in the Camarilla, but Brujah thugs routinely defect to the Anarchs, the better to strike against their hated elders. Even the tamer Brujah annoy the elders and princes routinely through acts of defiance and rebellion. Despite their recalcitrance, however, Brujah are valued as warriors; they are perhaps the most dangerous vampires in a straightforward battle. To anger a Brujah is nigh suicidal - and Brujah are notorious for their tempers.

    Gangrel
Of all vampires, the Gangrel are perhaps closest to their inner nature. These nomadic loners spurn the constraints of society, preferring the comfort of the wilderness. How they avoid the wrath of the werewolves is unknown; perhaps it has something to do with the fact that the Gangrel are themselves shape shifters. When a mortal speaks of a vampire changing into a wolf or a bat, she is probably speaking of a Gangrel. Like the Brujah, Gangrel are fierce warriors; unlike the Brujah, Gangrel ferocity does not stem from anarchic rage, but from animalistic instinct. Gangrel have a keen understanding of the Beast in their souls, and prefer to spend their nights in communion with the animals whom they so emulate.

    Malkavian
At first glance, the members of Clan Malkavian do not appear to be a clan at all; they are chosen from all races, creeds and social strata. But Malkavians, regardless of mortal standing, bear one disturbing commonality: They are all quite mad. Whether from the clans choice of victims, the circumstances of the Embrace, or some property in Malkavian blood itself, all Malkavians go insane shortly after the transformation (if they were not insane to begin with). Accordingly, many Malkavians find themselves pariahs, ostracized by a vampiric society fearful of their random urges and capricious whims. Wiser Kindred, however, prefer to keep the madmen close at hand: Behind the Malkavians' lunatic cackling and feverish rantings lie smatterings of insight, even wisdom.

    Nosferatu
Caine's childer are called The Damned, and no vampires embody this more than do the wretches of Clan Nosferatu. While other vampires still look human and may travel in mortal society, Nosferatu are twisted and deformed by the curse of vampirism. To put it bluntly, the Embrace transforms them into hideous monsters. Unable to walk among humans, Nosferatu must dwell in subterranean sewers and catacombs. Other vampires revile Nosferatu, considering them disgusting and interacting with them only when they must. Because of this stigma, however, Nosferatu are survivors par excellence. Few creatures, mortal or vampire, know the city's back alleys and dark corners like the Nosferatu do. Additionally, Nosferatu have refined the crafts of sneaking and eavesdropping to fine arts; if anyone or anything has the latest dirt on mortal or vampiric society, it is the Nosferatu. Finally, millennia of shared deformity and abuse have fostered strong bonds among the monsters. Nosferatu forego the squabbling and feuds ubiquitous to the other clans, preferring to work in unison. You mess with one, you mess with 'em all - and that can get messy indeed.

    Toreador

The Toreador are called many things - degenerates, artistes, poseurs, and hedonists being but a few. But any such mass categorization does the clan a disservice. Depending on the individual and her mood, Toreador are alternately elegant and flamboyant, brilliant and ludicrous, visionary and dissipated. Perhaps the only truism that can be applied to the

    Age (actual): 499
    Age (looks): 27
    Gender: female
    Clan: Ventrue
    Organisation: Camarilla
Appearance: Short, neat, blonde hair. She usualy looks like she can smell something unpleasent under her nose which she says is because of the stink of kine(humans) around her.
    Clothes: black suit
Bio: Leila De Rossi was sired in Hampshire, England during the 16th century and was sired by the Duke of Kent himself. She had been chosen by the Ventrue due to her families extreme wealth. She took part fully in the running of the Camarilla and became the Baron of Colchester. Before the unfourtunate death of Prince LaCroix she was Prince of London, she has now moved to Los Angelese to fill LaCroix position. She regained the Los Angelese position from Anarch control and personaly removed the remaining Kue-jin (eastern vampires) from China Town. Her office is now in the rebuilt Venture Tower, Downtown. She rules the vampire comunity with an iron fist leading many Anarchs to believe they were better off with LaCroix. Her 500th birthday is coming up.... the Anarchs are sure it will be an explosive event.

EDIT: i'm also asking people to keep the ages relativly low.

2nd EDIT: When we get enough people i will asign people to be the Primogens(representatives in a council) of their clans, :)

    GM Approved

    Name: Lachlan Cameron
    Age (actual): 285
    Age (looks): mid-twenties
    Gender: male
    Clan: Brujah
    Organisation: Camarilla {barely}
Appearance: Lachlan is 5'8 with broad shoulders, a slim athletic build and pale white skin. He has medium length wavy brown hair swept back from his face, he has a strong high cheek boned face {though his hazel eyes belie his true age}.
Clothes: Lachlan wears a plain black leather jacket that hangs to his waist, a dark green open collar shirt, black slacks and black leather shoes.
Bio: Born in the scottish highlands to the clan Cameron Lachlan inherited that clans renown ferocity and temper participating in many raids on rival clans in his youth. Then at the age of 24 his clan joined the last great rebellion against english rule in 1745, Lachlan fought in every battle including the last great battle of Culloden Moor where the highlanders and scotland were finally defeated and broken.

In his subsequent flight he was taken in by a reclusive warrior as he hid from the english troopers who were out slaughtering anyone they deemed a traitor {including Lachlans family}. This man sired the young warrior as he slept, though terrified Lachlan had lost all he had cared about, his family was murdered, his clan was broken and scotland lay in ruins. So he soon began to adapt to his new life, after his sire taught him what he needed to survive he disappeared into the night leaving Lachlan once again...alone.

However Lachlan was a warrior born and decided to put his new found imortality to good use and began travelling abroad seeking to gain more knowledge so he could maybe one day return and help regain his countries freedom. Over the years he travelled through europe, learning all he could from the greatest bladesmen he could find, always keeping as low a profile as possible both in human and vampire society. After years of travel he gained passage to the east spending many years training with the masters of both china and Japan {before the fall of the samurai}. He has been called upon by many various Camarilla princes for his skills but only aids them when their aims coincide with his or he see's some gain in it for himself.
