We don't have pictures of the float because it's not put together yet. We're meeting super early the day of the parade a little off from the beginning of the parade to decorate the float. We can't decorate it beforehand because we can't drive at normal speeds with the stuff on it. Chris, would you be able to be there earlier than 8:30 so we can get the droid situated on the float?

I also need a check from everyone who's responsible for stuff for the float to sound off.

Mike, do you have the bar / support thing rigged up yet? For that matter, do you have the trailer at your place? If so, it'd be helpful if we could have some pics. Also, are you still doing the snow for the Blazer?

Minda, you're okay for the music?

Kari, how's the sound system in your Blazer? Have you also found the spot where we're meeting to set up the float? What about transportation to the beginning of the parade, since we're down one vehicle? If I have to, I'll just rent a cargo van and have everyone pile into the back.

Pipe up if I've missed anything!

I talked to Mike yesterday. The trailer has been out of state and is just now getting here. It should be on my property within the next few days. (crossing fingers)

As for decorations, I currently have in my possession 1 really cool 6' tall, red, shiny Christmas tree; 24' of black garland with shiny silver stars (which I'm having a problem keeping my cat Vader away from... I'm not the only one in the house that likes 'shiny'); 48 unbreakable, black balls for the Christmas tree; one shiny green wreath.

Bottom line, the sound system in the Blazer sucks. Does anybody have one of those boom boxes with removable speakers? I've got a converter so it can be plugged into the lighter.

Since Ronnie and Nicole won't be able to join us, we need somebody else to carry the banner with Dane. This is a non-costuming, IEFF shirt wearing position. Would somebody that doesn't have a cannon costume please volunteer.

Since we're doing this with the RL and 501st, anybody in costume needs to be cannon.

As for the spot to meet to decorate, there's the Green Tree Golf Course that's only a few blocks from the line-up spot. It's right on the way. I'll post the exact address and directions later. This will be a great place for Chris to load up his R2 unit, too. Plenty of room.

Transportation is only down one vehicle and not an important one. My Blazer would not have moved troopers. We've still got Mike's car and Minda's mini-van. I think that should be enough. Thanks for volunteering to rent a transport, Sonya! That was VERY generous of you!

I spoke with Mark today. He and Deb (Emperor and Royal Guard) are still in and looking forward to it. Since they have an event later that day, somebody will be dropping them off at the line up spot, so they won't need transportation.

The biggest thing for me to whine about is that I'm actually going to have to have the Blazer washed and it's not due for it's bi-annual wash for another few months! It's sad, but I rarely wash the poor thing. Due to the recent rain, it's currently caked with mud. I'll get it washed at the end of the week so it's still shiny for Saturday. Did I mention that I like shiny????

Thanks for the update, Kari. I've got a stereo system with separate speakers that attach to the back with wires. It's one of the sit-on-the-shelf kind of stereo, not a boombox type. I don't know if that is what you're looking for, Kari? If so I can bring it.

    Question:

Does 'canon' equal 'face character', or just 'approved by said parties'?

Carrie, the costume that got you into the Rebel Legion is Cannon. Bottom line is that if you're going to wear a costume, it has to look good cause you're gonna be standing next to RL and 501st approved costumes. Not that anybody would, but a quickly slapped together costume would really stand out.

Just in case it got lost in my big ol' long post, I'll post it again.

We need another non-costume wearer to help carry the banner. Dane can't do it alone.

Our thing we got for the Falcon last year isn't working at all. So we don't have anything sound wise that can be on the outside. The car stereo works fine. I can crank up the sound from it. Just found out that Brittany said she would help with carring the banner. Her costume won't be ready in time. I hope that helps. And we are bringing Kevin with us.

And we have the banner and will bring it, too. Got to still wash the Falcon, so I understand what your saying, Kari. At least Bill did some more work on her to make her look a little nicer. But I know as the Falcon she doesn't have to be perfect, thank God!

Hey just wanted to let you know I will have the music finished by this evening. It's downloaded and ready to be transfered to disk. I just have a busy day so that is why it won't be finished until tonight.
Just wanted to check in with you Sonya.:)

Hi Chris, when you need to post pics, you just use the "image" button and paste the direct link to the picture, as opposed to using the IMG link.

Thanks for the pic, it looks fantastic!!

Sandy, tell Brittany thank you for volunteering to help! Does she have a IEFF T-shirt or jacket that she can wear?

This is an IEFF event, we've invited others to join us so it should not need to be cannon. No IEFF member should be denied the opportunity to wear their costume at an IEFF event.[face_shame_on_you]

Hope y'all have fun! Sounds like it's going to be a good one!

But since we're not a costuming group, we need to be especially careful when we do events with the Rebel Legion and the 501st. Both groups have high standards for their costumes and have a reputation to uphold when out in public since both groups are recognized with LFL. The RL in particular have had to overcome the negative image of being "bathrobe jedi" in the eyes of the 501st and we definitely don't want to have one of our own mistaken for being in the RL and damaging our relationship with either club.

    *Edit*

The exception is for the kids, of course.

We're not a costume group. Not that anybody would, but I don't want any bath-robe jedi. We do need to have some standards. Maybe not as strict as the RL/501st, but let's keep some dignity. That's what I'm getting at.

Me too, I just want us to follow our IEFF "Guidelines" for events and not impose non IEFF rules on our event.

Since these seems to now be an annual event, it's something we need to address and come up with specific guidelines for.

Okay everybody, real quick, here's where we'll be meeting to decorate the float:
    14126 Green Tree Blvd.

Click on the street view to kind of get a look at the area. Kari says that in that empty lot (the one with the port a potti I'm assuming) there's been a building constructed since the pic was taken. I think 6:30 was our meeting time? Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Oops, I guess I didn't do that link right.

    http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&geocode=&q=14126+Green+Tree+Blvd,+Victorville&sll=34.528592,-117.302749&sspn=0.00647,0.009613&g=14126+Green+Tree+Blvd,+Victorville&ie=UTF8&z=17

Well we'll need to put the fringe on, the garland on, the tree decorated, the fireplace secured, the sound set up (DOES ANYONE HAVE A GOOD BOOMBOX??) the wreath attached to the blazer, any other decorations to the blazer like the snow, if we're still doing that. Uh I might be missing something but I'm too tired to remember.

I don't think white snow on my white Blazer will really show. I might have extra shiny garland we could wrap around it.

Sonya, are you still coming up on Friday to take a look at things to see what we need to do? I can probably have the tree decorated prior to Saturday.
