With the system now seeming barren, the last few ships were prepped for what was bound to happen. With the fleet an the planet at yellow alert, the long range planetary sensors showed the imperial fleet out side the system.

    "Sir, enemy fleet approaching."

    "Good, let them come...."

Puzzled and now scared, the unknowing sensor operator only could shake due to the fear he was experiancing.

The Demon Platform had received its capture with open arms. Kuan had been left in the capable hands of one of the many agents in the cabal Tarquin had been a member of. Sebastian Daemon would take over the interrogation of the Traitor Kuan.

The Joyous Gard gathered a small flotilla of destroyers and escorts and prepared to make a cross-galactic voyage to Sullust. Tarquin had intended on personally showing the power of the Outer Rim to this Union. Several Destroyers and a full honor guard of Storm and Darktroopers seemed sufficient to Seti.

Joyous Gard and her companions left Yaga Minor on a straight-away course to Sullust.

    Fleet Admiral Hunters

    Outside Bestine

"Not very many ships appear to be left." Hunters said, studying the tactical display of the system. "Are you certain long range scans did not pick up a hidden fleet anywhere?"

"Positive, sir." Captain Agwash replied as she too studied the tactical display. Field Marshal Veers was present only to hear what plan the Fleet Admiral had to get their ground forces on the surface. Though he would make suggestion here and there.

"Shall we try to negotiate their surrender?" The Captain continued.

"Of course." Hunters replied. "By the looks of their formations they appear to be ready for an attack. If they have been doing long range scans, they know we are here and how many of us there are. Only foolish commanders would try to fight a fleet this size with only six ships at his disposal."

"The rebel fleet may surrender." Veers interjected. "But there is the ground forces that may put up a resistance."

"True. I'll leave their surrender to you, Maxel." Hunters said, glancing at both Veers who were present. The younger now wore an Imperial uniform, a black one with a Commanders insignia. Hunters did not agree with Veers that they should allow the traitor to keep his rank but he did not say anything since it was an Army matter.

"Captain, I want the Gargantuan, Black Widow, Hera, Striker, Cobra, Seth, Athena, Retractor, Restrainer, Copperhead, and the Cottonmouth to join the Pouncer. The remaining fleet is to remain here on red alert and stand by for further instructions."

    "Yes, Admiral."

Soon the twelve ship fleet pulled away from the attack fleet and jumped into hyperspace for Bestine.

"12? Is that all that they think we are, the best fleet in the world?? Prepare to leave the system, the people on the ground can have their own fun...but we will live to fight another day."

The 6 ships left the system at maximum speed, and headed for the other non-defended planet in the system.

    Fleet Admiral Hunters

    Bridge - ISD Pouncer

"Well that was easy." Trey Hunters said from the Admiral's chair.

    "Too easy sir." Agwash nodded.

"Helm, move us into orbit." He commanded and the Pouncer fell into a polar orbit with the planet. "ComScan, surface scan. The Field Marshal wants to know what is exactly down there and where. Captain inform the Field Marshal that he can begin deploying his forces."

    "Yes, Admiral."

    Field Marshal Veers

    Hanger - ISD Pouncer

"Thank you, Captain." Veers said to the holographic image of Selena Agwash. He turned to the image of the Hanger Controller. "I want a pre-fab dropped on the main continenant fifty klicks away from the nearest rebel bases. Begin giving the order to deploy all ground forces."

"Yes, Field Marshal." The Hanger Controller said. 12 Landing Barges were the first craft to depart from the Pouncer, in their grasp were a pre-fabricated garrison, landing plateform, anti-vehicle and anti-infantry batteries that would work as a command center and its defense. Next the Sentinel-class Landing Shuttles, AT-AT Barges, Drop Ships, a single Lambda-class Shuttle and various other vehicles departed after the landing barges.

Once they landed and sizable Imperial force had established control of a small area around the pre-fab garrison base. AT-ATs, AT-STs, AT-AAs, Waveskimmers, Wave Walkers, seatroopers and stormtroopers, Aquatic Scout Craft, speederbikes, TIE Fighters, TIE Bombers and TIE Fighter Boats consisted of just that small force.

    Fleet Admiral Hunters

    Bridge - ISD Pouncer

"Open a channel to the surface." Hunters commanded.

    "Channel open."

"This is Fleet Admiral Trey Hunters of the Imperial-class III Star Destroyer Pouncer. The space around Bestine has been liberated of rebel forces, the very same forces that just fled at the sight of my fleet. This message is specifically to the rebel ground forces that have been abandoned on the surface. Lay down your weapons and surrender peacefully. Refusal to do so will result in your own destruction."

Hunters did not expect a reply from the rebels on the surface so he turned his attention to preparing the fleet for a possible ambush. "I want the Black Widow, Striker, and Hera to position themselves behind Bestine's moon. The lancers and escorts are to provide support for the Interdictors forty klicks away from Bestine's gravwell and likewise from each other. They are to activate their gravwells."

    "Yes, sir."

The ISD II and the two VSD IIs moved into position behind the moon, putting them between the moon and planet, where they would be hidden from any scans of the system by enemy fleets. The two interdictors, the lancers and escorts moved to about forty klicks away from Bestine's gravwell. The Interdictors activated their primary weapon with a forty klick gap between them. The Lancers and Escorts stayed together and near the two Interdictors.

"What about the rest of the fleet?" Agwash asked.

"Have them move out another two lightyears from the system. That should put them out of long range scans but within minutes of the system as reinforcements."

    "And us?"

    "We'll stay in orbit."

    "Yes, sir."

    Field Marshal Veers

    Main Continenant - Bestine

"I want a defense perimeter established immediately." Maximilian Veers commanded as he stood on a observation terrace in the pre-fab garrison base. He had a datapad in one hand and the other he was gesturing out at the open land where men were busy errecting the defenses of the garrison. Beyond the defenses were several ground vehicles prepped and ready to engage the enemy forces on the planet.

"The defense perimeter will be finished in two hours, father." Commander Zevulon Veers said from the Field Marshal's side.

"Good." Maximilian stepped forward and pressed a hand against the waist high wall as he stared out at the forces he had gathered. Off to the southeast he could see the distant ocean. "I want another pre-fab dropped near the ocean to establish a naval base. Right now all naval forces are to remain on the defensive until we have secured the surface."

"Yes, Field Marshal." Came the reply over the handless comlink.

"Deploy the biker scouts. I want them to spread out to a 25 klick radius using the base as the center. The perimeter is to be divided into five wedges with three secotrs each. The Scout Walkers are to remain with in the first sector of each wedge. They are to report in every five minues."

The Joyous Gard flotilla continued through hyperspace, mere hours from its target, Sullust.

The atmosphere of the destroyer force, a phrase that implies destruction, was unusually relaxed. A combat zone they were not entering, and the primary batteries were only half charged--in the event that a wrong move might occur they would easily be brought up to a full charge. Even shielding was only slightly on-line. Gard was not in a fighting mood.

"Admiral Severus, your assessment of the Battle of Roon was quite complete."

    "Yes, Grand Moff."

"I would like to see more assessments like that."

"Then I sh-shall have to provide m-more battles like that."

    "Yes, Admiral."

    The ships continued through hyperspace.

The `1000 troops on the ground were now spead out along a trenched line between the two largest garrisons. Behind them were the 48 Hover tanks at their disposal. They were ready for anything that would come their way.

At each of the garrisons, the fighters launched and headed for the frontlines. 144 fighters streaked out at full throttle, all of them X-wing 2's. Soon they would be within range of the imperial base, and would prepare to soften them up.

Imperial Orbital Communications Sattelite, Sullust Orbit

Wyvern checked his his identity papers for the umpteenth time. He knew they were good, but a lot was riding on this. Dressed as an Imperial technician, and riding a shuttle up from the surface of Sullust, he knew he could get on board. It was getting around that was the hard part.

The Imperials had constructed thier own comms relay to improve communications between Yaga Minor and Sullust. Or, at least, that's what they said. In reality, it was to keep Imperial transmission secure, and to spy on local Sullustan and Union channels.

The Commander knew. He wasn't fooled. Wvyern was to create some "insurance". In the bottom of his toolbox, under a false layer, lay the powerful explosives that, when attached to the relay's power core, could literally rip the station apart.

Passing inspection without a problem, Wyvern joined in with the ebb and flow of multiple work crews, navigating via the mental memory of the schematics he had hacked from the local garrison. The power core was almost fully constructed, so it was only barely staffed.

Wyvern got to work, installing the bombs around the core while testing calibrations and power flow levels. No one paid him any attention. They had no reason to. A squad of Stormtroopers passed through the room just as he was finishing, checking papers. Wyvern presented his, forcing himself to keep calm.

    "Name?" the commander asked.

    "Lucio Jukki."

    "Current duty?"

"Monitor of power flow levels and recalibration."

"You're not listed on the duty roster I have here for authorised personnel."

"Really? Well, my orders state differently. Check with dispatch."

"I will." The Stormtrooper commander turned slightly, conferring with someone unseen over his inbuilt communications mike. Wyvern gulped a little. He'd placed the work order in the mainframe. It should be there . . . "Dispatch has confirmed it. Carry on."

    "Sir."

Wyvern returned to the task at hand, watching the Stormtroopers as they swept through the room. He finished his task ten minutes after they left, then logged the report with Dispatch to maintain the illusion. The bombs could not be noticed. They might have to stay there for years before they were used. Wyvern actually had to do the job he was reported to be doing.

Throwing his toolbox over his shoulder, he left the power core and headed for the docking bay.

    Tyrenna, Corellia

Jarrede and Kyle struggled their way towards the refugee ship that was loading. They'd left the speeder outside the city and made their way on foot, refugee's weren't supposed to own speeders. Jarrede could see people looking at him with disgust as he walked by, mothers gave him daring looks as they drew their children near. It wasn't him, if they'd seen him they'd be looking at him differently, it was what he was wearing. Every bit of visable flesh was wrapped in bandages and a breath mask was covering most of his face.

Several times some of the more bold men had stopped them and asked why someone dressed like that was free on the streets of Tyrenna. Kyle told the fake story of how Jarrede recieved his burns and Jarrede would make a rasping sound from under his breath mask. At that the men stepped away, a look of distaste on their faces.

Finally they'd fought their way to the loading ramp of the refugee ship, it was an old CEC Action V transport. The guards at the ramp stopped them and Kyle handed them their papers.

"What happened to him?" asked the guard as he looked over the papers.

"He was burned when someone stole his ship, without the bandages you wouldn't be able to think straight, he's repulsive," Kyle explained, Jarrede coughed and rasped to provide evidence. The guard who was without a helmet covered his face with his arm as if Jarrede had some desease.

"Alright, get on there and don't come back to Corellia, we don't want you poisoning our cities," the guard replied, handing back their papers. He tripped Jarrede as he was walking up the ramp. Jarrede's face hit hard and the breath mask slammed into his face. Kyle helped him up and gave the pair of guards a quick glance as he helped Jarrede up into the ship.

"Are you alright?" Kyle asked as they finally found a nice corner of the ship that would be theirs.

"Yes, cept the breath mask hit hard," Jarrede whispered.

Minutes later the loading ramp was retracted and the hatches were sealed. They felt the engine's rumble and the transport began to lurch forward.

"We're on our way," Kyle said, smiling.

"Father." Zevulon Veers spoke up from his father's side. "I do not believe we have enough starfighters. My former colleagues had about twelve squadrons. Our two will be no match for them."

Maximilian turned his attention to the landing plateform. "You're right. Veers to Pouncer request for your full compliment of starfighters."

"Copy, Fleet Admiral Hunters has granted request. They will be there in ten minutes." Soon the two Veers could hear the familiar whine of TIE starfighters.

The Joyous Gard slipped out of hyperspace somewhere in the middle of the Sullust system. Signals were sent out to Sullust control informing them of Tarquin's request to meet with the First Minister and inspect the new communication's platform he had ordered constructed.

It was almost a certainty that the Union now knew of the platform's true purpose, spying and allowing for secure transmissions between Yaga Minor and the garrison. This was but a test of Tarquin's design. Would the Union act upon their knowledge?

"We're bringing the flotilla into Sullust space. We'll reach the platform in forty-five minutes, sir."

"Good," Tarquin spoke, while turning toward the turbolift. "Ready a shuttle."

    "Sir."

Tarquin stalked through the corridors until he reached his quarters. Battle-dress was ready for him. The Grand Moff's dress uniform was a thing of Imperial beauty. Sharply cut and trimmed with Imperial color.

    "You might die."

"What do you know of death? I've averted it once, creature."

    "Will you a second?"

"Absolutely. I'm not finished with this galaxy," Tarquin finished, buttoning the clasp of his uniform at the neck.

"Then heed my advice: do not sit in the passenger cabin on your trip to the platform."

"What could that possibly mean, creature?"

    "You will soon know."

Wyvern watched as the flotilla of Imperial vessels appeared within the system. Slipping over to a public comm terminal, usually reserved for crew to call home on, he jacked in a sophisticated chip that allowed him access to Sullust Command and Control. He learnt that the First Minister had agreed to meet with a Grand Moff, and that orbit rights and inspections were being arranged. Pulling up files from Traffic Control, he noted the name of the lead Destroyer. Joyous Gard. Grand Moff Seti's flagship.

With the 12 squadrons streaking twards the prefab garrions, it would only be moments before they would we within torpedo range. Their mission was simple, get quick target locks, fire, and get out.

flying low and fast, the fighters all turned on their long range targeting systems. Quickly commin up on their targets, the pilots kept their cool. Strange enough, the X-wings had not had any entanglements with imperial fighters yet. No matter, it would be an advantage to get of as many clean shots as they could. Only 2 Km to go untill they were in firing range.

Tarquin Seti stood aboard the command deck of his flagship. He did not, could not, know that it would be for the last time in nearly a year.

"Admiral Severus, you have the deck."

"Yes, m'lord," he spoke, hardly a hint of his stutter, forcing a formal bow. Severus reserved such Imperial devices for those he had respect for. Somehow, Tarquin Seti fell into that category.

Seti boarded the shuttle, and met the creature. It did not speak; just stared at the passenger cabin and moved its head back and forth. Slowly.

"I'll be riding in the pilot section, today."

    "Of course, Grand Moff."

Tarquin entered the ship and sat down behind his Imperial pilot.

    "Sir, welcome aboard."

"Thank you pilot. Now, if you would please send our boarding request to the platform."

    "Yes, sir."

Several seconds later, an all clear signal returned. The platform was ready to receive Tarquin.

A squadron of TIE Defenders escorted the shuttle out as it made its way toward the Imperial station.

Wyvern watched the incoming Defenders and shuttle through a viewport in the docking bay. Officers and crew were rushing around; the Grand Moff was coming in for an inspection, and they needed to organise themselves.

Wyvern slipped into the shadows, his hand dropping onto the trigger for the bombs secreted around the power core. Seti. Here. Now.

One of the primary reasons for the bombs was opportunity. If a target presents itself, use it. Well, one had. A big one.

Grand Moff of the entire Outer Rim Territories.

There was no choice, really. But the docking bays had been sealed. There were no incoming or outgoing flights now. He was trapped here.

Triggering the bombs would mean . . .

    Damn.

    But there was no choice.

He knew what would happen. The consquences, the risks he was taking. But The Commander had issued a "kill-on-sight" order for the Grand Moff.

Wyvern didn't believe in fate, or the Force. But . . . well, he was tempted to believe in something now. Something had contrived to create this moment, and Wyvern couldn't deny it.

Returning to the window, he kept a light hand on the trigger as he watched the incoming ships.

    One chance. Perhaps their only.

    There was no choice.

The shuttle continued on its journey. A five hundred kilometer trek. The escort drifted away as the platform grew in the forward display.

Suddenly, Tarquin felt ill. He got that feeling you get when you know you shouldn't be doing what you're doing. It started in his shoulders and traveled through his body. Quaked him to his core. He thought he might vomit if not for his training.

All Tarquin wanted was to be back home. Not Joyous Gard, not the platform, not Yaga Minor. He wanted to be back on Chandrilla, ruling his house. Making important decisions that only effected a few, not a region. He wished for the subtle winds and gentle seas of his homeworld.

It was interesting--every person born on Chandrilla truly loved their planet. Those who didn't almost always had off-world blood in their veins. True children of Chandrilla only wished for their planet. Tarquin couldn't argue with this. It took a great effort to watch construction on his world. It took next to nothing to see it throughout his territory. A paradox.

He looked out the side windows of the shuttle. Saw the stars. He ruled over all that he could see in the name of the Emperor. Tarquin hadn't received ten messages from Jello since he had risen to power. The Outer Rim was his to mold and whip and contort and break and enslave and torture and free.

Why was he putting himself in this danger? He trusted the creature deep inside, but he couldn't let it know. That was why. His pride.

The shuttle was a handful of meters from the docking bay. The Defenders made graceful moves, forming a blossoming flower around the shuttle. A sign of new life amid darkness and despair.

The shuttle began to gently place herself in the docking bay.

Wyvern's hand started to sweat a little. It was the only visible sign that he was about to write history.

With his free hand, he triggered another button, a silent comm signal that raced to a dedicated transceiver, informing his superiors of what he was doing in the most general of senses. They would piece together the rest.

    He smiled morbidly.
Piece together the rest. There was a joke in there somewhere. Without reason, he started to laugh gently as Seti's shuttle approached the bay. He drew the attention of Stormtroopers, but he cared not.

With an almost casual flick of his thumb, he armed the firing stud. Another flick, and he triggered it.

Facing the dark void of space, Wyvern felt nothing as it briefly flared brilliant white, before descending into darkness.

The explosion first ripped through the reactors. Dedicated fusion and hypermatter cores for powering the massive communications equipment. The lifesupport and gravity functions would not immediately cut out due to the capacitors on board. It would be like entering the core of a sun for those near to the explosion.

The platform was not designed to take such pressures and it began to crack under the strain of new weight in some areas and missing weight in others. The supports croaked and strained. Snapped beneath the force of the explosion.

The explosion itself was not one but many. The force of the device. The power of the core. A concussion explosion. But in the seconds that they took to rip through the platform, it would simply seem like hell coming down to erase the station from current memory.

It reached the docking bay. The concussion blast hit first, knocking the shuttle around. The energy and heat came second, vaporizing most of the ship. It was thrown, violently, out of the debris of the platform. The concussion wave destroyed much of the inner cabin. The navigator was killed instantly. His body crushed beyond reason by his chair. The pilot was spared this fate. His chair, too, flew forward, but it simply covered his body. He was stuck between the control panel and the weight on top of him. Still conscious.

And Tarquin? Tarquin was thrown forward into the remains of the navigator's chair. The panel beside him exploded, sending flame and liquid metal into Tarquin's skull and neck and body. He continued forward until his head made contact with the chair. Tarquin's body was suddenly forced upward by a secondary explosion, sparing his spine, but tearing his right shoulder open and completely destroying the bones in his right arm.

The cabin stabilized, somewhat, in a free fall for the planet Sullust. Tarquin's body fell to the floor off of the chair. In the process, a jagged piece of armrest tore into Tarquin's leg, ripping a segment no less than ten inches long and three wide straight out of him before puncturing the other side.

Blood poured out of Tarquin and began to stain the carpeted floor as the cabin fell towards the space port areas of Sullust. Before Tarquin completely lost all senses he saw the Creature standing above him. Smiling.

    Then the world was black

"Sir, scouts in Wedge 3 Sector C report incoming fighters, lots of them." Came the warning over the comlink.

"Deploy fighters and alert the rest of our incoming fighters." Veers commanded. "All AT-AAs and AT-ATs, we have incoming starfighters. Move out and destroy. I want the bombers and half a Interceptor squadron to move against one of the enemy bases. Scouts and Walkers are to begin the trek toward the nearest base."

The Imperial starfighters all flew rapidly for the incoming starfighters all but six Interceptors and a squadron of Bombers. Those went a different direction to destroy one of the garrison bases. Eight AT-ATs and four AT-AAs moved away from the pre-fab to intercept the enemy fighters. By the time the enemy fighters were twelve klicks from the base they were already being engaged by the AT-ATs as they, the AT-AAs, and the Scout walkers passed for one of the garrisons. The Imperial starfighters had raced ahead to intercept the enemy fighters around twenty klicks.

OOC: Whoops...where was my mind when i read your post...perhaps in the gutter.

"Spread out, we dont need to be hit by those long range AT-AT shots. Incoming fighters from above. Have 6 squadrons move to attack incoming fighters, while the rest spread out in formation, and attack the closest targets."

Swarming around the area, the fighter formation split apart into the designated groups, with half the available fighters running cover against any incoming Tie Fighters, bombers, or interceptors.

Back at the base, the hover tanks prepared for any flight of fighters that might find their way over there, or any infantry units. The Troopers still hung in tight, expecting the worst to happen.

When the TIE Interceptors and TIE Fighters came within missile range of the X-wings they immediately targeted their own X-wing and sent a double slavo of advanced concussion missiles at them before directly engaging with lasers.

The AT-ATs were able to target three starfighters at a time, allowing them to deal with two whole squadrons. The AT-AAs kept firing flak into the horder of X-wings and TIE fighters.

Meanwhile the TIE Bombers and Interceptors approached the garrison base with cannons blazing. The TIE Bombers would make attack runs on the ground forces with proton bombs.

Back at the garrison, the fighting heated up quickly. Making use of their Turreted flak cannons, the Hover tanks moved around the battle field and targeted the incoming fighters and bombers. The troops on the ground dug in, and waited for the ground battle to begin.

Up within the imperial garrison radius, the 2 X-wing2 wings headed still twards the prefab garrison. With the missles headed at them 36 were comming fron the top and 18 from in front of them. Turning on the chaff, and breaking hard, the fighters with locks on them tried to pull away. but some failed to get out of the way of the missles. Remaining fighters not on the attack runs pulled up into the ranks of the enemy fighters. Lashing out with their Proton Torpedoes when they could get a lock, the fighters tried to gain air superiority. When missles were not an option, their lasers quaded up and shot out twards the Tie's. The X-wings attacked in groups of 2 fighters each. The Attack group still stayed on as level as a course as they could, dodging the AT-AT fire as they flew in, but dodging could only last for so long.
