"Well that is just...." he didn't know what to say to the translation of them wanting meat. Things were happenening much to fast for his liking. Raising his Death Hammer blaster pistol, an apt name for the mess the thing could do if he cranked the intensity up, and started taking shots from his rock cover.

As the Mando'a waded out he had to agree with the other's assessment that staying together was better then seperating, especially when between a poison stinger and a tearing hug by tentacle. Neither of which was a way he particularly wanted to leave his matter.

Then an idea struck him, it was mad or crazy or a little bit more so but Killiks wanted meat...tentacles were most likely made of meat..."ISIS!" he shouted using a bare hint of the force to help guide his voice to her ears, hopefully she would be too busy to question how she heard him over the current racket. "Why don't we give them what they want?" he shouted again pointing at the Tentacles that were wrestling their ship beyond use.

He fired a couple of shots at one of the tentacles base to see what would happen as he backed away from that scene, he had done so to help punctuate his words so that she might get the idea. But the Force, luck, or whatever you believe guides people's folly in such situations had another idea as he turned around to see he had been unintentially backing up toward the resident Mando's position.

Seeing a small group of the thumb sized bugs crawling toward the Mando, most likely other's couldn't see from their position and the Mando beneath his flames. That was the terrifying part of the Killiks, they would throw a few hundred away on a suicide mission solely to get a few in to win a fight that most sentients would say was lose lose situation. He started firing with his blaster but one merely knocked forward onto the Mando's shoe.

"Oops." he quietly mumbled hopeing none would ever notice. Reaching in a pocket he reached to pull out a tool or something he could use to throw and the kill the bug now crawling up the armor. Grabbing the first solid thing he found he pulled on the force to enhance his power and aim, he threw with all his might and the object hit the bug dead on.

"I hope the Duchess' doesn't get to see that, or my Aunt." he grimmaced as he kept firing and backing up to cover the side away from the Trooper and Chiss. He fired at any that were getting around their firewall as he silently lamented the hard biscuit covered in bug splatter lying a couple meters infront of the Mando. It was one of the few minced avian meat filled ones too.

It struck Seth somewhat hard at how incompetent his team was. The Hapan had suggested that they go against the droid and stick together in a group which, as they were seeing with Nephrite's ongoing battle against the seemingly endless swarm of killiks pouring from the mouth of the cave and, slowly but definitively, surrounding him, was a terrible idea. The only ones remotely showing any hint that they were indeed above sentient level thinking and actions were Nephrite and, sadly enough, Judder.

This was combat and, of course, the Mandalorian and Stormtrooper would excel beyond Norghar, Ta'Manis, and Seth in the physical, but he at least expected that the Hapan would be able to come up with a better idea than shoot first and find a ship later. Seth contemplated putting a bolt through the Drall's skull as he proceeded to throw biscuits in defense. They could then take his robust body and throw it to the killiks for them to feed on for several generations. Yes, Norghar would be the first to perish in an "accident".

Pouring on blasterfire would only decrease the amount of ammo they would require later when things were bound to get much worse. Observing the situation while only firing shots that would preserve Nephrite's life, Seth began to formulate two plans. One for saving the ship and killing the tentacle monster, the other for destroying the ship, but killing all of their adversaries. After some deduction, Seth decided on a combination of the two.

Drawing his other pistol, Seth called Judder's attention. "We need to move back to the ship. Whether we like it or not, we are going to get surrounded. This is a hive and they have been here for a while, which means that there could be a near limitless amount of killiks in that cave. We move back to the ship and the Jedi and Nephrite can begin to attack the tentacles. The ship will be free and we can fire from the ship a path through the swarm. If the killiks get too close and there is no other way out, we blow the ship up which will clear a path and, of course, destroy the monster. The Jedi can focus the fire down a path to the cave, clearing a way in."

Without confirmation, Seth moved forward to the back of Nephrite and pointed one blaster left and the other right. This would protect the flanks. "Nephrite, time to move back." He called out while continuing his onslaught. "Norghar, pair with the Jedi and head back to the ship. Ta'Manis, assist me in holding them off. Judder cover Nephrite."

As expected, Seth decided to be a complete bloody moron. What complicated matters was that there were not three completely non-combinable plans. Only one of them made sense, so far as it went. Norghar's statement was incredibly simple, give the Killicks what they wanted. Then blow the living bejeezus out of them. And so something inside Mal just snapped.

Taking an extremely authoritative stance on things, and putting as much of that in his voice as he could, "Jedi, get the meat! Chiss, shoot the bugs. Don't move or you'll get us all killed, and hold that bloody flank! Alec, keep doing what you're doing. Drall, get your stubby ass behind cover, NOW! If anyone else even thinks about suggesting yet another stupid plan of action so help me I will shoot them myself!" His reason for anger was rather apparent, as everyone moving at cross purposes was completely moronic. Honestly, he didn't really expect Seth to listen to a word he'd just said, but if the Chiss wanted to get himself killed that was no skin off his back.

The OTHER reason for his upset was that they were, in fact, starting to get surrounded. What would have made more sense for Seth to do would have been start doing what he could to keep the damned bugs near Alec, but instead he wanted to run. Against bugs who could jump a hell of a lot farther than and faster than them. Towards a giant tentacle creature they knew nothing about. Bloody brilliant idea you fething frakker. Suffice to say, he was NOT pleased. That didn't stop him from continuing to blow the heads off of things. Either the others listened, or they didn't. At least he'd tried to get a little order into this mess. Without that they were all dead.

    Cara Ta´Manis, Cave Entrance

The Drall was right. More than enough flesh. Cara ducked and gave another burst of shots, taking out two Killiks trying to flank the Stormtrooper. In her mind she kept counting down her shots. 24 . . . 23 . . . 22 . . .

Through her com she heard the Chiss shout his own idea of a plan.

Fight through? Blow the ship up? It was surrounded by the enemy and ripped apart and far away . . . She sighed and pulled the trigger again. What kind of plan was this? She shot a look back at the ship, as one of the gun-turrets was ripped from it. It would probably not be there anymore before they reached it. And they wouldn´t reach it. Killiks were fast. "Forget it, we will be caught between the two!" She pressed through her teeth and gave another Killik a head-shot. At least they weren´t dodging. The Chiss gave further orders, but she didn´t listen. His plan had no substance other than his vanity. He simply wanted to be smarter. But actually he was implying to speed to a point where they would be surrounded in any case. By tentacles that could rip apart ships.

To her surprise it was the stormtrooper shouting his reply first. "Jedi, get the meat! Chiss, shoot the bugs. Don't move or you'll get us all killed. Alec, keep doing what you're doing. Drall, get your stubby ass behind cover, NOW! If anyone else even thinks about suggesting yet another stupid plan of action so help me I will shoot them myself!"
Cara had to smile. She thought she couldn´t be more different from this man. But actually the same thought occurred to her.

"Nill, any help on the left flank would be appreciated." She shouted. Then she changed cover to get into position and take Mal Judder´s right side. Firing rapid bursts of energy into the advancing Killiks. 21 . . . 20, 19, 18 . . .

Judder shouted he would kill the next person to propose a plan. No wonder.

    "And Trooper, I second that!"
She shouted and gave another burst into the crowd of insects, before taking cover again to avoid acid-spills.

Life together or die alone. Let´s see who get´s it and who doesn´t.

She pushed herself up again and returned fire.

Seth, you are having a bad day.

His orders were ignored and instead the man that was trained to take orders decided to give them, which, at their base, were not orders but basically a commentation of things that were already going on. The Hapan also spoke her rather unhelpful words of confirmation, even though her whole plan was to keep firing and firing...and firing. She also contradicted herself by agreeing with Judder to "Get the meat" when she had only a few minutes earlier called the attack an ambush, implying that the tentacles and killiks were working together. Now she sought to feed the killiks their ally.

His mind was calm which made his accuracy that much better as he continued to serve only one shot to each killik, hitting them in their skulls and dropping them to the floor. "Judder, what is the nature of your plan? That we feed the killiks until they are full and will allow us free passage into the cave? Or distract the thousands of them with one large serving as we sneak into their home?"

He would continue to protect Nephrite because he seemed to be the only one who was doing his job and had a level head about him. The way that Judder and Ta'Manis were using him would get the Mandalorian killed. Acid was flying past Seth and Nephrite towards the others who were behind them when previously there had been none that was too close to harm them. This, alone, exhibited the progress of the Killiks and their winning in opposition to Judder's fast failing "plan". They were, indeed, surrounding the entire group. Maybe not out of the organization of a plan, but because of sheer numbers, they were pushing the swarm outwards and around. They were faster than bipeds and flamethrowers ran out of power after only a couple of minutes.

"Judder, as a stormtrooper, I doubt you have run out of grenades. Maybe you could launch a few in the air for the Hapan to shoot and give us some...breathing room. If you are indeed content on fighting our way in, blaster bolts alone will not suffice. The goal of this mission is to get inside the cave, in case you forgot."

It was now that the Chiss realized how right the droid had been about them getting into formation. If they were in some kind of form, that would make getting surrounded less of a threat. He directed his attention to the back of Nephrite. The flamethrower was all that was keeping them back and soon it would run out of power. If they were still in this state of disorder when that happened they would all die and, preferably, quickly.

"Nephrite, how much longer does your weapon have before it gives out? With nineteen tentacles taking down the ship and the time we have wasted, it has no chance of recovery. We must use the time your flamethrower has left and advance into the cave. There we can close the opening and will not be surrounded." The Chiss stated yet another plan without fear of the empty threats that Judder and the female had passed out. If they killed him, then Nephrite would die. The insectoids would kill them or, in the unlikely event that they survived, after seeing them a threat to the overall team, Nill would cut them down. Yes, he had looked at the circumstances and all the outcomes and he was far from frightened.

The goal was no longer to save the ship nor kill all of the killiks. No, the goal now was to get inside the cave and close the killiks out of their home by blowing the entrance. The enemy would then be coming from one direction and this team had enough firepower to handle that threat. There were other exits they could take or they would make more. There was a secret to the satellite moon properly named Shadow and along with that secret was glory! His face began to display a twisted grin as his focus increased along with his rate of fire.

Glory was to be had here and it was drawing ever so near to his open palm! His glory and destiny would be fulfilled!

OOC: just wanted to say what i was thinking, so that we can make this work. and not sure how much more we can do til sinre posts again, anyways.

my thoughts were we get the killicks something to eat, that would clear the cave. we get into the cave, and then block it. either that, or use some explosives on the killicks while they munch or something. which will hopefully result in none of us becoming bug food.

oh, and blu? i thought you were farther form alec than i was? that's who i'd been doing it, otherwise i wouldn't have told you to take the flank.

also, i would agree with blu on this one. definitely enjoying this game a lot.

also again, i find it highly amusing that your character keeps thinking of me as an order taker.:p he's a bit higher ranked than that, generally speaking. and considering his job he's... also a little bit outside of the chain of command most of the time, or in charge.:p

Alec listened to the chatter as he continued spraying streams of flames into the Killik swarm. Actual combat had the Mandalorian's adrenaline going, the thrill of combat that so many of his kind relished coursing through him. The bugs either stayed back or burned or, if they got too close, were shot by his shatter gun. One Killik had managed to land on his armored boot but when the Mando glanced down, his shatter gun pointing downwards to take care of that way, it had already been knocked away by one of the others.

Despite the combat, however, Alec couldn't let himself get lost to it, especially with all that was going on behind him. One order here, another order countermanding the other, both being ignored while another was formed up. He wasn't innocent of having added a little to the chaos he admitted; afterall, he ignored the droid and went right to the front lines to burn some bugs. Things were spiraling out of control though. Compared to the battle on Nickel One that he participated in with his fellow Mandalorians, this was just backyard fighting and bickering. With bugs. Very hungry, giant bugs.

"Nephrite, how much longer does your weapon have before it gives out? With nineteen tentacles taking down the ship and the time we have wasted, it has no chance of recovery. We must use the time your flamethrower has left and advance into the cave. There we can close the opening and will not be surrounded."

Alec was keeping track of his fuel and he still had plenty, having not even used a minute of fuel. Actual combat seemed to go for so long but Alec was experienced enough to know how wonky actual timing may seem when combat ensued to the individual.

"Since there's so many tentacles, why not have the Jedi cut one and feed it to the Killiks?" Alec suggested to Seth. Far be it from him to avoid making such a projected battle to get to the cave easier but the Mando, amongst his flaming of bugs, had been having plenty of time to take in the chatter and think. "She hasn't been doing much so let her cut one up and feed the pieces to these bugs, eh? All these bugs are all great but you gotta remember that there's probably more inside wherever we're going."

That was just Alec's guess anyway. Considering that - if he was going to assume so - that the Killiks may've fed on the colonists yet were still trying to get past some extra hot flames to get another meal, there must've been a lot of Killiks that needed feeding, probably more so then the numbers they were currently facing. If that was the case, Alec would like it better if the team didn't use all their hardware, such as Mal's grenades in the first engagement since landing and instead save it for later. There could be a whole hive waiting for them within.

"Get a little meat to distract them and make the trek easier!" Alec continued, spraying another section of the swarm with flames. "A starving foe makes a desperate one, and that goes double for insects so they'll be trying their damnedest to get the only pieces of meat that are out in the open - that being us - despite the lasers and grenades and flames all throughout our projected trek to the cave. And even if they are allies, the bugs won't care if there's a carcass right in front of them!"

That's what bugs do don't they? Alec questioned to himself, remembering all the flies that tended to hover around corpses after an engagement. He imagined the same thing happening here except with even bigger bugs feeding on a bigger carcass.

"I got plenty of fuel so just do it!" Alec snapped at not only the Chiss but everyone else in the group; he had made sure to open a comm to the others when he made to reply to Seth. He wasn't giving them room to argue unlike the past couple of orders. He managed to locate Isis with the 360-degree view of his helmet so Alec knew exactly where to look when he took a moment to whirl around, his visor landing on the female Jedi, before waving towards the doomed blastboat with his left h

You don't have to tell me twice! he thought as he ran back to the nearest rock cover and diving behind to land next to the Hapan. Well, no one said life was fair when it comes to ibbit-hole company.

Sticking his head back up he tried getting into the Hapans flow and method of shooting by having his own shots counter hers, it almost happened without his trying as she reaimed to the next target he would shoot the head of his own and vice versa. He was glad to hear that the team was now stuck to one goal as a unit, well as near a unit as seven unique government and personal perspectives could work as one so soon after having a 'goring' contest that was their earlier war.

"I wonder if these Killiks became carnivors as a result of the surfaces desolation or were part of the Gorrog nest sect and already had such leaning's and tendacies that this devastation merely hightened, or possibly hibernating fail safe that guards Shadow's secrets. I hope we are able to figure that out someday." Taking aim he shot a smaller killik that had been crawling over a larger one, a two fer. He felt like doing that to the person next to him, infact he found he occassionally was forming the image of her on a target before blasting. Cathartic, but very unprofessional, he should be better than that, shaking his head slightly he reached down and pulled out a data pad as he used the rock to steady his pistols aim. Setting the pad against the rock between him and the Hapan he began jotting some notes for future reference and thoughts with his free hand pausing his typing for each shot.

"Fascinating either way." he mumbled as he jotted down notes and comparisons between the killiks body structures and killing attempts infront of him and those that he had faced before.

    Isis Stele
    Cave, Shadow, Corellian system, Core

Isis ignited her lightsaber, with the wind whipping her braids around her face and threatening to tear the cloth from her hair. The green of the glowing blade, became a beacon in the dust and visible wind. With the Force, Isis guided her weapon out of her hand and into the tough flesh of one of the tentacles. Hardened skin was no match for a lightsaber?s intensity.

Sliding her arm to the left, Isis drew the limp arm away from the ship and then caught her lightsaber. She dashed forward and severed two more of her targets, brushing aside both writhing masses in the same fashion, as she had the first. With sixteen more hostiles to eliminate and cracks starting to creep out on the hull of their blastboat, Isis realized a sense of futility in her efforts.

Isis continued to fight, though, destroying three more of the tentacles, in complete silence and ignorance of her team?s activity. Short of an explosion, nothing would have woken Isis from her trance, until the Force carried her a message. Isis spun on her feet, shocked, and gazed at Driggs. There was no questioning the fact that the Drall had used the Force. Whether he was trained, or his brief moment of clarity was a result of a survivalist?s necessity, remained unanswered, however, and Isis had no time to ask.

With the Force carrying his words, the moderately corpulent being suggested that Isis give the Killiks, ??what they want?. Assuming that he was referencing Nill?s translation of the Killiks auditory chatter, Isis turned to glanced at the remaining thirteen tentacles. She deliberated; her motion completely suspended. Behind her, her group was having trouble deciding how to continue. Without a unanimous decision, Isis acted based on observation.

With cracks spiraling all along the body, the ship was already close to useless. There was a chance that Isis might have been able to save their ship from complete destruction, but her hesitation had decreased the possibility considerably. In order to save her time and energy, Isis applied pressure to the cracks in the blastboat?s chassis. The combined force of the arms and Isis?s assistance completed the deterioration of the ship.

The ship shuddered and then collapsed in on itself, puncturing the hostile tentacles. A few seconds after the resounding crunch of contracting metal, a brilliant orange explosion knocked Isis off her feet. She was carried three feet backwards, and landed in a roll, unharmed, but for her ringing eardrums. The others were even luckier than her, having been far enough away to avoid the force of the explosion entirely. Isis picked herself up, to check on the strike team.

    Cara Ta´Manis, Cave entrance, Shadow

The Drall took position next to her and began mumbling something about the Killiks. She shot him a look and saw his face. Even in another species she could see that it was somehow creepy. And the look he gave her wasn´t too comforting, either.

    She kept on shooting, slowly counting down her shots. 14 . . . 13 . . . 12 . . .

The team had no command structure. With a droid doing math, instead of leading, a Chiss who didn´t had a clue but thought to be a second Thrawn and herself . . . who hadn´t cared about any of them, until they were as good as dead. Now the Mnado tried. They all wanted to command, nobody listened. She gave up.
Then again, this problem was more fitting for an all out invasion. It was doubtful these Killiks, if responsible for the death colonists, would hold on longer than a day against what combined forces that were above Shadow.

So, that was probably her mission. Die down here, as any advance team could. And show those above the most important piece of information needed. They needed greater numbers.

    The Drall took out a notepad and began writing while fighting. "What the frek are you doin´there?" She hissed and fired a last salvo. . . . 8 . . . 7 . . . 6 . . .

"Are you doing your will? Because for now we aren´t performing that bad. And one usually does that beofre a mission, you know?" She only said dryly while ducking to cover. Then she jumped up and gave the Killiks another few shots. Every shot hit where she wanted it too, but there was no lack of targets, anyway.

The fire of the Mandalorian should make them flee, except they have a pushing intelligence behind them. Like in the Swarm War. Another Raynar Thul.

An explosion behind her distracted her. She missed her first shot. . . . 5 and 4.

Diving behind her rock again she saw the Blastboat had exploded. Probably done whatever monster was beneath the planet some harm. The Jedi was still alive. But hadn´t used the force or anything to get them the meat they needed.

Sighing she jumped up again and fired her last four shots into the stream of insects. "RELOAD!" She shouted then, as she took cover again and inserted her next 30 shots.

She finally turned to the Drall. Laying her hand on his notepad, so he couldn´t write anymore. "You were right. We NEED to get this meat to the Killiks. Will you help me?" She asked, well aware she could never carry a tentacle to them, alone.

Awaiting the Dralls answer her rifle made the humming sound of reloading. She was ready to go. She just couldn´t do it alone.

He kept writting as the Hapan asked him a question about it, "Notes, for future reference." was his only solemn reply as he picked up his firing to keep up the cover that her reload was causing some slack on their side of the line.

He could tell that the Jedi Isis had done what she thought was necesary to finish the tentacles but she didn't seem to be hoping to it with sending the tentacles to sate their personal beast hives hunger pangs.

She finally turned to him, he was hoping it would be to swap positions so he could focus on this new idea in his mind. Laying her hand on his notepad, so he couldn´t write anymore, humans could be so annoying sometimes. "You were right. We NEED to get this meat to the Killiks. Will you help me?"

That made him pause for a second, oh boy, if he worked with her to do this the meat might be gotten and the engagment might be over...but if they did the right flank would be defenseless without them there to keep up suppressive fire. "If we both go nobody will be able to guard the right side. You stay and keep them back while I go get the grub."

Firing a few more shots he shouted to the Jedi, using the force gently to push his voice, "Stop Lolligaggin Isis and throw a few tentacles over quick! As we've agreed!" he hoped she would hop to it before he had to do anything drastic to keep team cohesion and lives going.

The Drall fired, while she prepared her weapon again. "If we both go nobody will be able to guard the right side. You stay and keep them back while I go get the grub." The furry little man shouted.

"Good, I´ll cover you!" She only replied and leaped up, her rifle ready. The trigger on her finger waited, while she gave herself a single breath, watching the Killiks pour towards her. Then her shots came out of the barrel. Much more rapidly than before. Well aimed some of them got two or three Killiks with one shot.

    30, 29, 28, 27, . . . 26 . . . 25 . . .

She began to return to a slower rate of shots, to keep them in line and concentrated on her part of the action. Surpressing the right flank.

    Kill Killiks.

One particularly large Killik took two shots to take down, which completely messed with his rythm. Combined with the fact that he was two shots from empty at the time, and the Chiss was still bugging him about a plan, Mal's mood was definitely not terribly improved. Worsened, actually. "Reload!" He popped the power pack, and with an extremely practiced and smooth motion reloaded in about two seconds. A sigh of relief escaped him. Whew, was afraid the rust would get me. Still might. Popping back up he shot another Killick before responding to the Chiss.

Refusing to give the Chiss any of his visual attention, "Blow the living bejeezus out of them. So, basically just turn them into jelly." Judder had actually not looked in his pack before the mission started, and was cursing himself for that stupidity now. Not knowing what all of your options were going in to combat could definitely be fatal. The current situation was a nearly perfect example of that. If Mal knew that there were more grenades in the pack, he would be far more willing to use another one now. Or after they got near the tentacles that Isis was cutting down. As it was he only had two more that went boom, other than his last gasp explosive. It wasn't your typical grade for that either, as the Imp had wanted to ensure that whatever took him out went along for the ride.

Almost absently, he noted that the Drall was heading off to get some of the tentacular mess that laid behind them. The sudden explosion had caused a rather massive upheaval of wind from behind them, not to mention little meaty bits falling from the sky still. It had the desired effect, as the buggies were slowing down to eat whatever meat substances were available. This gave Mal hope that it would work, most likely. Isis would have to help, assuming she wasn't out of commission from being inside the blast radius.

Now, the only PROBLEM was that Norghar leaving Cara on her own meant that there was a rather substantial lessening of fire coming from that side. Mal cursed. "Hold this side Seth, if you don't we all die." With that statement, Judder moved off to close behind Alec, which gave him line of sight on both flanks. Alternating shots from side to side, Mal continued laying the Killiks out with lethal effeciency. For most of the others this might have been suicide, given the acid and other things that were flying around. But Mal had armor, just like the Mando'a. It might not have been quite the same calibre (what was as good as beskar?), but it was acid resistent. And it would take one dame lucky shot for the other things to penetrate as well. It just went against everything that had been beaten into him for most of his life to stand out in the open like that. The lack of blasterfire incoming was the only reason this was survivable.

They were actually doing rather well, given their earlier bickering. "Keep it up all! Teamwork is the only way we survive this." Hopefully the others would agree. Even the arrogant Seth.

The Chiss noticed that the others were going along with their plan and even Nephrite was starting to agree. It seemed he had been outvoted, which brought a stream of something near humor to him. His face had twitched slightly when Nephrite had decided to go along with their plan, but it was good because it meant that, when faced with the majority, Nephrite went with the tide and Seth would have to use this later in the mission.

The battle with the Killiks was going well and Seth was only using one shot for every Killik, his accuracy was probably unparalleled in this group. His eyes drifted to the weakest part of every Killik he saw whether it be the head or throat, mainly the areas which would mean permanent death or inaction. Though, he was not opposed to using two shots, but why when one shot would do fine.

Behind him, Judder was offering words of encouragement and Seth stopped himself from lookng backwards. "Teamwork? More like a temporary alliance, but nonetheless agreed."

Everyone appeared fine, so Isis took to healing her scrapes. It only took a subtle application of the Force and she was perfectly healthy again. Isis brushed dirt from her arms and stomach. In the explosion, she had lost her headband, and he braided hair was falling all over the place. Isis flipped her head back, tossing her hair across her back.

Isis noticed Driggs turn to her, and through the Force, again, he spoke over the wind. ?Stop Lolligaggin Isis and throw a few tentacles over quick! As we've agreed!? Isis regarded him, watching his eyes, wondering how he had learned to strengthen his voice. Having seen it twice, Isis no longer believed that his knowledge could be a fluke. Driggs must have been trained, at least somewhat.

Isis turned away from the fight, still without words and looked at the remains of the ship and the tentacles. She picked out the largest mass of meat with her eyes and lifted it into the air, with only a moderate effort. Isis guided above the battle slowly and dropped it off to the side of Alec Nephrite. She did the same with the second largest arm, and sent it to the other side of the Mando'ad.

If her plan worked, the Killiks would separate into two groups, to manage both pieces of meat.

"Good, I´ll cover you!" was the Hapan's only reply, unfortunately it looked like he was going to have to do some more things he didn't like.

Running, or in his case more like scrambling over to the nearest severed tentacle he hefted the clauterized stump. He could feel his nails digging into the dying flesh and the unrelinquishing drag of gravity that it imposed. "If only most of this was muscle this would be a sinch." he groaned as his feet began to plod back with reluctant arms and tentacle that wanted to stay behind in this windy clearing.

Pausing he took a few deep breaths and hefted it using the force to subtly inhance his strength and began scurring back to the rocks, around the inside for better cover as well as the tentacular which he allowed to droop infront of himself. As soon as he felt an acid or stinger strike on the leading tentacle he dropped it and ran with a duck and weave fashion as fast as he could to grab another and repeat the process. Hoping the Killiks would get the idea and take the hefty tentacles and leave them to their mission.

    Cara Ta´Manis, Cave entrance, Shadow

She realized that the stormtrooper had shifted his position to cover her flank. A good move. She could fire more rapidly, but then she would need to reload much faster and that would be it, then.

    22 . . . 21 . . . 20 . . .

The counting in her head didn´t stop, when something harsh came to her nose. Looking down, she saw acid burning through her robe. She cursed silently and used the rocks for stabilizing, while shooting into the Killiks again and again. When she was down to 17 shots, she had finally managed to get rid of her robe. Revealing her black heated and isolated commando suit beneath it. It looked like nothing of the acid had made thorugh it, so she concentrated on firing again.

Before she hit the 15th Killik a huge fleshy tentacle slammed next to the mandalorian. She sighed and shifted to a better position. Finally the Jedi had delivered.

    Hope this works . . .

While the second one dropped and Norghar came carrying his own one somewhere behind her, she covered the left part of her flank. The right one was now also dealt with by the trooper. "Keep it up all! Teamwork is the only way we survive this." The stormtrooper made his try in leadership. The Chiss answered something, she herself saved her dry comment. He was right. But it wouldn´t help for long, once the Killiks were gone.

The Song of Storm and Fire

    IC: Nill
Cave Entrance, Shadow, Corellian System, Core

Nill sprayed blaster fire down the left flank, and, the moment the tentacles were set up, bounded out of the way. The Killiks, for their part, poured out of the cave towards the tentacles, which were now arrayed between the team and the blue-black Killik swarm. Nill spoke, his audio sharp. "Fall back to the ship, we must assess damage to it."

In that moment, however, the ground began to rumble, as the Killiks drew up to the tentacles. The first Killik to reach the tentacle chittered something and the entire swarm turned about, leaping over each other to flee. Nill's processors were unsure - where they fleeing from tentacle, or the rumbling?

The rumble came again, as Nill leaned down to analyse the tentacle. His sensors rapidly acknowledged that it was not a tentacle but some kind of leathery plant, the sap oozing from it poisoned, thorns lining the edges. Unable to understand what this meant, Nill turned back to the ship. "Report - tentacles in-fact correspond to an analysis of roots, as opposed to tentacles, suggest formation retreats -"

The shaking became chronic, yanking anyone not quite balanced to the floor, and more than a dozen tentacles burst from one patch of the ground, pushing up and creating a hole. Six roots arched for each of the team members, while the other dozen - dozens? The amount was unclear in the confusion - wrapped around the blastboat and dragged it underground, bending the durasteel and practically folding the blastboat in on itself as it was dragged underground.

Then, just as suddenly, a pair of tentacles burst from the ground, grabbing at Alec and crushing at his Mandalorian armour, evidently trying to squeeze him alive - dragging him towards the maw. Other tentacles appeared, lashing at the team individually, and Nill snapped orders - dangerous orders. "Retreat into the cave, take whatever chunks of these roots you can with you. Seth, Judder, go forward, check the way. Driggs, next. Cara, cover the retreat. Isis, follow in."

Nill bounded forward, spraying fire to clear a path in the multitude of tentacles to clear a path. Behind them, his sensors confirmed that the Killiks were completely fleeing, into depths that his sonar could map. A voice rippled across the comm. channels, across the Force, perhaps using eardrums themselves to communicate.

Let go, and you shall see.

OOC: Watch as Alec is suddenly aged older! Due to some stuff that I'm not being told about, I've agreed to give Alec an age increase. Instead of 21 years old, he shall now be...48! Sorry ladies, no younger, fresher Mando for you anymore :p He still good looking though

    IC: Alec Nephrite
    Shadow, Cave Entrance

    Eh?

Alec still had his flamethrower raised but the flames no longer spat at any over-sized bugs cause said bugs were retreating. It wasn't a nice, ordered retreat either as the Killiks just jumped over one other to try and get away from - what he could make out - the tentacles that were finally tossed out to them. Well, the tentacle idea worked but not in the way that Alec had expected; he thought that the Killiks would feed, not retreat.

But the sudden rumbling may have something to do with it as well. The Mandalorian glanced downwards and started to take a few steps back, his flamethrower pointing towards the ground as well as his shatter gun. With the killiks gone the Mandalorian had to figure that more of those tentacle things were crawling around beneath their feet.

"Report - tentacles in-fact correspond to an analysis of roots, as opposed to tentacles, suggest formation retreats -"

Alec was only about to think, Roots?, before the ground rumbled anew and the Mando dropped down to a knee to prevent himself from dropping face first. He holstered his shatter gun, wanting to use both hands to help steady himself, and an instant later saw that getting back on the feet was going to be the least of his problems. The bigger problem came from a big hole where several tentacles were raised from. The blastboat was the first target, getting crushed and folded as it was dragged underground.

And he was next apparently. Alec only had time to raise himself back to his feet, his arms moving to unshoulder his shotgun, before he was suddenly grabbed by two of the tentacles. However, while the metal of the blastboat failed to hold up to them, the beskar that made up Alec's armor was doing a lot better job of not getting crushed and thus crushing it's user. Despite the somewhat dire circumstances, Alec felt a little bit of pride at that; he had fashioned his armor out of the newly discovered deposits of beskar and, like its known for, it wasn't breaking, bending, or even budging against the strength of the tentacles that tore apart their blastboat.

He only had time to bask in that feeling for a second cause he was getting yanked away by tentacles afterall, and into that big hole that the blastboat was pulled into.

This some kind of sarlacc? Alec thought wildly as that was what it reminded him of. He knew one of the more legendary stories of Mandalore Fett, having been eaten by a sarlacc before blasting his way out of it's gullet.

Alec didn't want to test his luck to see if he would have the same kind as his Mandalore, especially since he didn't know if this thing really was a sarlacc - and a very big one at that if it was - so it was his best interest to get out of this predicament. He couldn't count on the others to save him - the reasons not solely because of them getting attacked by the other tentacles - so for all he knew he was on his own.

"You like a good squeeze, eh!?" Alec barked despite not knowing if the thing could hear him. The adrenaline was coursing through him, the Mando's vision started to become red as the combat was taking over. "Well how about this!?"

The Mando seized one of the tentacles with his left hand - the left hand that was encased in his crushgaunt - and squeezed. At his exertion, the crushgaunt immediately added more to his strength, enhancing it by several times that of his normal. Such enhancements had allowed Alec and other Mandalorians to instantly crush bone, metal, and the vonduun crab armor that the Vongese liked wearing. He doubted that the tentacle can stand up to it any better.

His other hand went to work as well. While not possessing a crushgaunt, the knuckleplate of his rig

She saw the Killiks retreat, probably because their primary urge was satisfied, but she thought her earlier analysis had been right. Creatures of instinct hated it to burn. They ran away.

"Report - tentacles in-fact correspond to an analysis of roots, as opposed to tentacles, suggest formation retreats -" Nill commed to them. She turned towards the attacking tentacles now and watched them appearing all around them. Using the few moments to relaord, even as her old energy pack wasn´t done yet she took a higher ground. Somewhere where she could dodge the tentacles more easily, should they decide she was a sweet next target.

Actually the thought the Mandalorian was a better. As she had jumped on the rockj she had used for cover, she saw numerous tentacles attacking him. The man had already bropught a torch to his best use, but obviously he would need some help.

    The orders told her otherwise.

"Retreat into the cave, take whatever chunks of these roots you can with you. Seth, Judder, go forward, check the way. Driggs, next. Cara, cover the retreat. Isis, follow in." That was all the droid said and entered the cave, guns blazing.

    "What about Alec?!?"
She shouted into her comm, but for he wasn´t mentioned she knew the answer. "To early for sacrifices, metal-head, sorry." She said and took aim. She would cover retreat and get the Mandalorian out of this.

A strange voice came through her comm. A male voice. Something intelligent? She ignored it for now. Survival first.

In her head she considered her options to help the Mandalorian. The advantage when you were trained by an intelligence agency was you were prepared to fight unknown enemies. On a mission you never knew who would show up to kill you.

Tentacles were biologically not designed to attack and fight but grab and probe things. Therefore they usually had strong nerves. Nerves.

Alec had begun to attack the tentacles himself with a torch, by now. Probably he would break free on himself. But she wanted him to do it now and join them in their retreat.

"Alec, nice torch you got there. On 3 break free!" She shouted through intercom. She shot two approaching tentacles without aiming and then took aim. He targeting-cross wandered to the ends of the tentacles. There the nerves would be bundled. It would be the most pain-sensitive part of the tentacles to get shot.
"1 . . . 2 . . ." She mad sure she had three of the tips in the right order to shot at. Three he wasn´t burning already with his torch.
A difficult shot, but not outside her skill. Or so she hoped for the Mandalorian.
" . . . and 3!" She squeezed the trigger three times, every time shifting to another target. The shots seemed to need an eternity to hit the tentacles. But she hoped that it would do the trick for Nephrite.

Getting to her knees she now aimed at the whirling tentacles remaining, while the other hopefully followed orders and retreated into the cave. She would cover the retreat.

She still had a bad feeling about this. It actually just grew worse and worse.

"Alec, nice torch you got there. On 3 break free!"

Eh? The voice managed to pierce through the growing red haze that was starting to obscure Alec's vision. The Hapan? Not letting up on his own efforts to free himself, Alec turned his head to spot Cara. He saw the blaster in her hands - a blaster that seemed to be familiar in design to that of his own people his more intellectual mind noted - and figured he knew what kind of help she was offering.

    "1 . . . 2 . . .and 3!"

The flames came back, though not just from Alec's flamethrower. Alec had drew back his hand that had his cutting torch and instead allowed his flamethrower to take over, spitting out flames to further try to burn the tentacles while making his escape. That was his jetpack's job, the device spitting flames of it's own though the flames for that were acting as not only killing flames to burn the tentacles but also propulsion to get him away. Whether he had crushed the tentacle or not, Alec also removed his hand with the crushgaunt away from the other tentacle that he had been grasping.

He was going to look at the Hapan at a much better light if this thing worked.

Isis was still the closest to the tentacles, when they revealed themselves as a plant of some archaic variety. The whole creature was built similar to a sarlacc, though slightly less dangerous. When a sarlacc caught hold of you, you were extremely unlikely to escape. There was a chance that this was either a male sarlacc, or a larva. There was no way that Isis was going to allow a death this earlier on in the mission, however. Plus, there was no glory to be gained from dying in this fashion, and Isis knew the importance of a glorious death, for Mandalorians.

Cara Ta?Manis was of a similar mindset as Isis, it appeared, because she began firing bolts from her blaster rifle. Though unlikely to do any veritable damage to the organism, it was a valiant primordial attack. Alec seemed to be adding his own flavor, by attacking the tentacles with a crushgaunt and some kind of cutting torch. The torch would be just as ineffective as the blaster, but a crush gaunt would do some terrible damage. In an attempt to wriggle his way free, Alec activated his jetpack, forcing the plant away.

To complete the escape, Isis sent he lightsaber cruising through the air, into the bulk of the arm?s truck, a few feet past Alec. The Mandalorian was thrown away from the creature, and to save him from another grisly death, Isis neutralized his jetpack. She was beginning to feel a strain on her mind, at the effort, and released Alec, letting him drop the ten feet to the ground. Panting from the effort of coordinating three acts by the Force, at once, Isis shook her head.

It was the best of times?well at least no one in our party has been shot by friendly fire.

Looking from his tablet he spies Cara the Hapan shooting at the suspended Mando?a Alec from under his severed tentacle/root shelter that he has draped over and around him.

Well not first off anyway, perhaps there was a reason for the blockade after all. We all have scars and impressions left from the war that we are sensitive to, from our actions and inactions?even the scientist of these seven representatives has his own wounds. From such a great war all have lost someone or something near their core, or some are scared by having taken from others. Whatever the reason we are still sore, and slow to trust. Perhaps that is why the YVH droid Nill was given command, a status far above any droid's entitlement or normal range of status, because it or I guess he in a sense alone isn't irrevocally marked as we are.

He paused in his rapid fire typing as a live tentacle root brushed across his hideaway of a dead tentacle root. Looking back at the insueing drama he spied Isis getting into the action now as she obviously appraised the situation whilst readying her lightsaber.

We came here in search of whatever it is that might be of import and/or cause of the colonists dissappearance here on Shadow. Our first encounter was with a colony of Killiks, see appendix 1A for references and notes concerning encounter for greater detail (possible images to be attached as well), their main goal appeared eating...anything including us or some corpses of colonists. Our ship was destroyed by what first appeared to be tentacles but are now after some destruction revealed to be most likely plant based in an active root system. Something which I do not recalled being associated with Shadow, but neither were Killiks so it all is relative until a propper study can be conducted. After all it is still unclear whether this group of apparently carnivorous Killiks are at all related to those from the Swarm War or a seperate secondary entity similar to the Gorrag Shadow Nest. Oddly they fled once our attack and that of the tentacular root system intensified.

Putting away his datapad he looked back up as Alec seemed to be suddenly dropped from ten feet up, raising a hand slowed the Mando's descent so he dropped the last five feet gracefully and onto his feet propper in a direction toward the cave. "Better to do it right instead of flashy." He grumbled as he looked out of his makeshift safety hideaway upon the action.
