So Epirus (granted, while running the Radious mod) is actually decently fun to play as once you manage to kill Athens and Sparta. However, until you manage to control Hellas, the Epirote campaign is a desperate slog that makes the Carthaginian early game look like a tutorial. By turn 6, I was at war with Athens, Sparta, Syracuse, Rome, and the Ptolemies. I ended up allying with Carthage and the Etruscans just to spite them all.

Try playing Pontus, if you are not crushed by turn 20 you deserve some kind of medal. [face_sigh]

I'm waiting for the Radious mod to be updated with an Eastern Units pack before I even touch Pontus. I'm not impressed with their unit roster.

I swear, it looks like they cast Sean Bean as Ned AND Brandon Stark.

Oh, whoops! Sorry for making an assumption, then. (are these on the discs or something? I don't remember seeing it)

And curse them for deleting it!

It's from the original version of the pilot, where half of the cast was different, the visual aesthetic was slightly closer to the books, and flashbacks were allowed.

Pictures from it have been floating around on the internet, although idk if there's any officially available copies of it.

They had about the same amount of suicidal bravado.

"Come out and die" isn't the best thing to shout in reference to the crown prince in front of his nutty dad.

EDIT: apparently the flashback made it as far as the original trailers for the show. Interestingly, several shots from the original pilot did make it into the pilot that ended up airing, such as Robert naming Eddard Hand of the King.

Yes, the episode commentary does go into which bits were from the original pilot and which weren't. The scenes in the Stark tombs and the whole big banquet scene were from the original (with the exception of Cersei's zoomed in scenes next to Cat, due to recasting -- so it's a bit funny when they're talking to Sansa because it's a conversation across different versions of the pilot). It's kinda cool because the original was shot in film, and the new pilot was shot in digital -- it's especially easy to tell the difference in the low-light parts.

I just intimidated a group of orcs in Pathfinder by quoting Vivec. Get on my level, fetchers.

This is a remarkably good month for video games - the Saints Row IV DLC is coming out, the Director's Cut of Deus Ex (only $5 if you already have the game and DLC), Batman and the PC version of Deadly Premonitions...

The author of the 36 Sermons, naturally.

Details on the conclusion of the Pathfinder campaign to come!
