I thought i'd post this thread to start to plan for things to do in July. This way if there's anything we come up with, we'll have plenty of time to plan. I've got a couple ideas we could do as a group thing. Feel free to add any ideas as well. What I'd like to see is a couple of things picked and start to make plans! :D

I was thinking for July 4th we could go here...

Once again the University of Redlands plays host to one of the largest 4th of July celebrations in the State of California . The gates at the U of R Stadium will open by 6 p.m. The live show and opening ceremonies will begin at 7:00 p.m. and will include a flag ceremony and a four jet flyover followed by a USAF C-17 flyover. After the flyover, skydivers from Perris Valley Skydiving will be landing in the center of the stadium. The Live show, at 8:00pm, will feature performances by Neil Diamond and Donna Summer impersonators. The Fireworks show under the direction of Jeff Martin, citizen of Redlands and Sales Manager for Pyro Spectaculars by Souza will begin about 9pm.

Wifey and I went here last year for the first time and we were hooked! It opened with a finale and kept going from there. The best part is that it only cost $7.00 to attend. Three hours of festivities.

Here's a few pics from last year + the link to the website: http://www.redlands-events.com/July4.htm

Aliso Viejo Beach by Newport + Laguna

This is one of our favorite beaches as it has rocky formations with some realy awesome waves. We usually see dolphins on just about every trip as seen here with the pics. It's got some really cool stuff to see in it's natural habitat as well. Not your usual beach.

Just a note from us...we never do anything on 4th of July related to crowds or fireworks. Ry has extreme issues with fireworks. We've been invited to a family function during the day, down the hill, and he won't even go to that. You guys have fun though. We'll catch you for another event.

Let's see what we come up with. Even If we decide to do this, we could do other stuff too that you guys could go to? What about having you come by yourself? :)

I'm trying to get a SoCal Fan Force day, and since every other group is doing a BBQ/Picnic, I think I want to try for another beach day, if you guys want to hold off on the beach until August (AFTER Comic Con).

Maybe we could pick something to do on another day other than 4th of July? I love the beach, but not on any major holidays. Plus too, a lot of people might have family BBQ's they might be going to.

The first week of July is always strictly family for us. We always stay home, even for my birthday, because it's too close to the 4th and places are always crowded (Mom's got crowd issuesand we don't like leaving her behind). As for fireworks we always find a spot to watch them for free, and even then only Dad and my siblings. I honestly don't like the loud noises associated with fireworks but love watching them. Mom hates the noise more than me and always stays home.

I second the motion on doing something other than on a holiday. The beach sounds like a cool idea. That's got 'music video' written all over it. ;)

We've already committed to something else on the 4th.

And until our softball season ends, we're gonna be busy most weekends, but enjoy yourselves and take lots of pictures. :D

I'm not saying we do the 4th at the beach. These are two different ideas of things to do at different times of the month.:)

Sheila + I are going to do the 4th at the Redlands Univerity, whoever wants to go is great. If you've got plans already, that's fine too. I just thought i'd start to post some ideas to get the group to do a group activity. That's why I brought up the beach as another idea of something to do but not on the 4th.

I like waiting on the beach thing until August and doing a So Cal fanforce thingy but there's nothing stopping us from going in July + August. So if you guys want to do the beach in July as well, let's rock + roll folks!

We can possibly do the Avaition Warehouse in El Mirage (Kari I need you to set this up). Here's the webiste----> http://aviationwarehouse.net/ Pics from when we went there with Kari are in the June 13th meeting posting if you haven't seen them yet.

We've got a whole month ahead with nothing planned as of yet, so lets find something to do and make some magical super duper thing bingy's happen!

Let's do this...who wants to go with us on the 4th to see the firework show, post here:

    Mike + Sheila

Who wants to go to the beach sometime in July, post here (We can still go in August):

Just a question; would the beach be a tide pool/walk/hike/exploring kind of thing or a 'get-your-feet-wet' kind of thing?

As long as the beach isn't one of those overly crowded ones it's fine with me.
And I do want to visit the aviation warehouse. Looks like fun.

The beach is a regular beach but not as crowded as the bigger ones. We can bring umbrellas and our own food and whatnot. It's a small walk to the tide pool area. There's actually two separate areas, very cool.

Looks like I was wrong about Bill's work schedule. He is off on the 4th. So count us in for the Redlands 4th of July thingy. It will be nice to see professinol[face_worried] fireworks instead of the mexican stuff around this neighborhood. OOPS, I forgot we won't be here anymore. Yeah!

FYI...if you haven't looked on the website for the firework show, tickets are available for presale of the show for the $7.00 I was telling you about. This saves you $3.00 per ticket. I can pick up tickets for all going and you can pay me back the day of the event so you don't miss out or have to take the drive to get tickets. For all who want to attend this great show, please let me know if this works for you and i'll get them.:D

As far as the beach is concerned, the dates for going are either going to be on the 11th or the 18th as we've got people in the group going to comic con on the 25th. These are all Saturdays. So that being said, we need to decide on the date of either the 11th or 18th and make it official![face_dancing]
