Just a reminder that Chicago Force has a block of rooms at the Courtyard by Marriott (across the street from the convention center) for CFers and also for FanForce members who would be interested. E-mail BoshTalk@aol.com for more information.

whojedi, do you know anything about riverboats in the area; I think that's the one they are planning on going to. What's the name of the one by the convention center, I don't know if they are aware of it.

Anywayz, good luck to anyone looking for rooms. We're not far from downtown @ the Holiday Inn East, but apparently places are filling up fast.

The casinos that are 2.5 hours away are riverboats, they are the closest, as for the off-track betting facility downtown, it is in the Embassy Suites Hotel and I believe that it is called the Sports Spectrum. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Caesars Indiana is near New Albany (2 1/2 hours south on I-65). Great place, been there many times. Going to Celebration with group from Cleveland, Columbus, and Louisville, KY. Speaking for myself, I'm working on obtaining a set of stormtrooper armor for the occasion. Can't speak from the rest of the group.

You're not by chance going with members of "The Fighting 501st" recently featured in "Star Wars Insider?" I can't wait to meet some of those guys; looks like they have alot of fun at SW conventions.

I met some of the 501st at WizardWorld 2001. I was so jelous of the amount of fun they were having. I'll never forget how nice they were to the few kids that were there, especially this one kid who was in a wheelchair and look developmentally challenged. I had a great photo of me with them taken, but the damn photo lab lost the roll of film.

And their costumes blew me away. They had laser sights on their blasters and voice boxes in their helmets!

Well when you join the 501st give me ring, I'd love to meet some of those guys and have a picture taken with some of them. What kind of Stormtrooper are you going as (Standard/Scout/Hoth)? If I ever got a costume like that together, it would have to be a Imperial officer or Death Star Commando (can't fit glasses under the helmet)...a lesson learned from my Vader halloween costume. I couldn't see very well at my friend's party; the only thing I could make out was the huge bonfire!

Keeping this sort of on topic, anyone from the Cleveland area going to Celebration II? If you know someone, have them post a message. There is no fanforce for us, so this is my best attempt at a homing becon for Cleveland SW fans!

Since TFN took away the Cleveland fanforce section, why don't we just start our own? It doesn't have to be TFN related.

I'd be willing to make a newsletter for upcoming events and related news articles, but I'm not going to do it if only 3 people want to participate or receive the newsletter.

    Any takers?

Don't rule a stormtrooper out because of glasses. I was checking a board on the 501st website and some of them have made modifications inside the helmet so that glasses fit properly. For a good one, expect to spend 700-800 dollars, all inclusive. I'm sure we can hook up at CII for pictures. I'm waiting on my armor now, as soon as I get picutres, I can "transmit my application to the academy now, instead of waiting for the harvest".
I'm originally from Lorain/Elyria, and the action in Columbus seems to be slow so I would be interested in a Cleveland area newsletter.

Mystery, will the NYC fanforce be planning an excursion to Magic of Myth in Brooklyn? Perhaps the Rangers will be in town then and I can kill two birds with one stone. Would plan on going in costume, of course. Dummy me, I missed it when it was two hours away in Toledo. Now I have to drive 8 to NYC. Great town to 'have' to drive to, though.

What, if anything, would we have to do if we got a FanForce forum?

    "That's one!"

    1) Krash
    2) GrnJalera
    3)

What would we do if there was a Cleveland Fanforce Forum? I don't know, give advice to where the good SW toys can be found, give updates on TBX Productions latest creations (and get some feedback). What do the other fanforces do? It would just be a way of connecting with fans close to home. It's not like we're startinga rebellion or anything; just a place to talk among ourselves.

For those interested in forming a Cleveland Fan Force forum here's your answer straight from the Fan Force FAQ.

If you would like to see your city listed here as part of the Fan Force, then we would like to encourage you to visit the Communications Forum and/or visit your .Regional General Discussion forum, and post a topic about adding your city. If you can get enough people from your area to respond and create interest, then the FanForce staff will work on setting up a forum for it. In the meantime, we would like to encourage you to post in the closest metropolitan city forum to you. You never know who you might meet from your area!

If there are any questions or any way I can help don't hesitate to PM me.

    - Rox

Are you posting on Force.net at school? ;)

Better not let Jedi Master Mom find out, or she'll sign you up for more classes. See you when you get home.

Since this started the push for a Cleveland Fanforce chapter, better leave a forwarding address for anyone else who is looking for fellow Cleveland SW fans:

Under "FanForce USA - Midwest" there is a chapter headed "Cleveland, Oh" Check it out. And if someone smarter then me with computers (and that's not difficult) could please create a link to this, that would be great.

What's the matter with posting from school? I've done it for a year now! (And doing it right now! ;))

Hey, GrnJalera, if you are still considering on sending out a newsletter, count me in! :)

JarJarJedi - since you're the only person who has responded, I'll let you know that I won't be putting together any newsletter. It would have to be 15 to 20 people (at least) for it to be worthwhile. We'll see ;)
