Wash, DC April meeting thread - meeting 4/13, 1pm

I'm very flattered to be considered for the position, but I'll remove myself from the running before anyone gets too excited.

The main reason for this is that I will be returning to the UK at the end of the year when my visa and fellowship expire. I do not intend to extend it further. My personal opinion is that you should elect someone who is going to be around longer than me, to establish a long running Treasury.

I could do it for the next 6 or 7 months, then hand over to someone else, but I feel it would be better for the FF if a permanent candidate can be elected from the outset.

With that in mind, I fully support Elizabeth in the Treasury department.

edit: oh, I *do* have an official position I'm the graphics guy !! I'll continue to post in this forum after I return to the UK, and I'll also continue to contribute artwork, banners, fliers etc whenever they are needed.

 

Then my nominaton is for Sharon for Treasurer.

 

She's got the money already. That's halfway there!!

I may be able to make the meeting after all, but I'd have to run off as soon as it's done. Always in motion, and all that.

 

I had a feeling malkie would turn it down... But at least he has a good reason.

 

I'm not dodging the responsibility, I'd be honoured to do it, but I just think its better to start off with someone who is here for the long term !

Hello everyone.i will be at the meeting on the thirteenth at one o'clock. Just thought you would like to know. I am not sure you want a Marylander to be your teasurer since there are those who consider us another species.However , I have your money and will bring it with me on Sunday. I can't wait to see all of you.I think you are all so special!

 

Jeff - I could easily stay longer if I wanted, but I want to return to the UK. Its simple to extend my visa and my fellowship here.

I might be back on holiday after I return, but that would be about it.

I will probably have to run off right after the meeting, but I'm still not sure. Bah.

I imagine we will end up at a nearby restaurant or something... that's usually what happens. I liked the ESPN zone last time.

My wife is coming down with me because she likes the Old Post office, so I figured I would check to see what is or is not happening. I was figuring going someplace after the meeting to get lunch.

 

Like Val said, there was an ESPN Zone in the neighborhood. There was also either a Ruby Tuesday's or Applebees (I forget which) there close by too.

They also had a few deli stands in the Old Post Office Cafe and a couple of chinese/asian food places in there too.

 

That is a bad Ruby Tuesdays. I say ESPN zone for lunch.

Also, Val is our leader so we must go where she says to go.

Also, since the meeting will be over. We can be "social?"

 

Oh so it was RT, not Applebee's. ESPN Zone is fine with me.

Actually it was a TGIFridays... but I still prefer the ESPN Zone. And getting 'social' is fine as long as it isn't at an official FF get-together. The meeting is official, going wherever afterwards is not.

 

The ESPN zone has great salads. I know that is not manly to say, but it is true.

 

Okay, so ESPN Zone after the meeting... "socializing" is optional.

 

That TGIFriday's has been horrible for years. As Event Coordinator, I say ESPN Zone. Even if I can't go.

 

Yeah the ESPN zonei like it! we could play some games! that would be fun.

 

This weekend there is going to be a lot of protests going on downtown. I don't think it will affect our meeting. This post is more in the FYI range.
