No relationship or financial topic here. Strictly Star Wars related. Question: What do YOU think of the writing style of Mr.GL and friends and of his stated effort to tell a modern contemporary mythology. He has stated that these movies are for children but I seem to have an issue with that. I don't know how detailed I can go on this but one of my most troubling issues is the unconvincing way MrGL showing the relationship between young Ani and Obi-wan. The first episode ends with a young boy jedi initiate and jumps to eps II with a young man padawan. The only clues that you get that shows implies a strong, warm bond between the two is a dialogue exchange concerning a mission they were on and the mishap and of who rescued whom. I think a real MAJOR flaw is that what's missing is focusing on Ani and Obi-wan during the formative years showing what hints or suggestions of what Ani was like during his training. Don't know if I'm sidetracking a bit or off the mark, but in Martial Arts films there are countless examples of showing the bond between master and student. Come on! Do I have to mention the great Bruce Lee and his early films. Just wonderin' what y'all think! Paalam na po!!!

 

I can only postulate, but not give any real answers to that, since I'm not George Lucas.

I honestly don't want to overanalyze his work because it doesn't seem like he has any artistic pretentions or whthaveyou.

What I see, though, is that he's trying to tell bits in the actual movies, and let the EU do the dirty work for him.

Why?

Money, of course. If you ask me, it really isn't that bad, because the D.I.Y. (do-it-yourself) filmmaker will actually find ways to earn off his movies. the reason he got rich wasn't mainly because of the OT, but because of the merchandising. Shrewd tactic, if you ask me.
