OK, I'm not calling anyone a brat (except maybe a certain RSA who shall remain nameless but whose initals are void) ;).

I'm talking about the dolls called BRATZ.

Christmas time is coming and you or a friend might need to get a present for a smaller member of the female of the species.

The BRATZ dolls are very popular with the segment of the population.

HOWEVER, you should be aware of the age of the child you are buying it for and the disposition of the parents.

BRATZ dolls often come dressed with thongs as undergarments. [face_shocked] Many parents (such as myself) would be greatly unappreciative of their child receiving this.

Other alternatives to the BRATZ dolls are:

    Lisa Frank
My Scene or My Generation Barbie
    Diva Stars

or find a toy store that still has Amidala dolls and tell them the store you went to was all sold out of BRATZ.

THIS HAS BEEN A PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT

I also wanted to add a disclaimer to this cause it occurred to me some people may not object to the BRATZ dolls. I'm not pointing a finger or calling you a bad parent. I'm expressing that there are parents out there who do find these dolls inappropriate.

Another inappropriate toy I feel is the original Tickle Me Elmo

    Why?

If you have heard what it says backwards, you would never buy another Elmo product again.

I'll send it to ya if ya ask me.
    It's true & really disturbing...

Yes, I had a lllllooooooonnnnnnggggg discussion w/ my oldest niece about those dolls [face_plain]

She asked me if I had seen them and I said that I had and that I didn't feel that any girl should receive a doll which would cause them to think that sexuality is the only thing a girl has to offer the world. My brother heard us talking about it, and thanked me afterwards for explaining why those dolls were wrong. Her mother, on the other hand, has already bought her a couple of them... But we won't go into that one

ZOO, I agree with you SOOO much. I was furious with my friend who is the mother of one of Christy's friends for letting her watch The Cheetah Girls. Now her 5 year old wants to wear clothes like that, etc. Compound that with the fact the kid is already over 4ft and you get a kid looking a lot older than she should.

OK, enough of my personal rant.

Heck, I keep telling Christy in my day there was 1 Barbie and only clothes for her.

Other than that, I only had a stick and a tin can to play with. (ok, I had alot more but . . .)

Okay, they're bad then? I mean, the dolls are bad then?
(Think: Using them as props in the GI JOE wars about skanky chicks with diseases trying to infect the world, and it's up to GI JOE to stop them with missles that will destroy them from a distance because no one would want to touch a girl like that)
See, they're great toys I think then. Shows a lesson.

I think that still is PG, though barely.

Like those "beauty" contests for little girls... Way too much emphasis on sexualizing young people. :(

yeah but unfortunately it isn't just costumes...
last night at knott's scary farm i saw boatloads of preteen girls that were so young that despite all the makeup and britney spears-ish clothes they were wearing, they STILL looked barely 12 if that... that always creeps me out. kids dressing like they are adults...

i had a 2nd grader in my afterschool program who's shirt completely hid the fact that she had any shorts on at all. and someone my mom works with is having trouble finding any clothing for her daughter, because our school has rules about how long shorts have to be. she doesn't want her daughter to be sent home, but anymore thats all the brands are selling. sure you could blame parents for stuff (and i do, cause there are some problems i have with certain ones. speaking of that, anyone wanna help me beat up this one?) but if the stores don't have anything else, what are you gonna do?!?

    Good point.

They just had a feature on that in our local news about girls wanting more discreet clothing and someof the dept. stores getting on board with it.
