Went to the Cincinnati Comic Expo this last weekend (Sunday only) to check it out. It's in it's third year and and chatting with the local 501st and Mandos who had a booth its been growing every year. It was a nice mix of vendors, artists (some were VERY good), comic creators and media guests. I decided to check it out because they had a couple of Star Wars guests...Katie Cook (Star Wars Artist), Dave Dorman (Star Wars Artist) and Star Wars Fight Master Nick Gillard. Nick was doing his "jedi training" class at this event (he takes students through the ObiWan/Anakin fight sequence from ROTS) and I had heard this was the last time he was going to do this which he confirmed. He said he wants to get back into doing stunts for movies. Of course I signed up. I had a good partner, similar in age and ability and we did pretty good. The class got all the way to the end of the sequence which he said hasn't happened in the year he's been teaching this so we must have done pretty well. I handled the "Anakin" portion of the fight because my partner wanted the ObiWan and Nick said the Anakin portion was easier. So I learned from the same guy that taught Ewan and Hayden their moves, how awesome is that?

I was solo for this con but half way through the 1.5 hour lesson I saw someone I knew from Metropolis watching from the side so I asked him to take pictues and he obliged, he even shot some video! how lucky was that?

Oh and Nick owes me a drink...he saw I had a 501st shirt on so he coin checked me and I answered. He tried to argue his coin out ranked mine but I told him nothing outranks a coin from the Kilted Trooper Brigade

By the way... you looked like a complete natural. Very comfortable and relaxed. Maybe you should take some martial arts? I think you'd excel at them.

 

Thanks, I've played with several over the years but I find I only have time for one and right now I still do my weekly riding lesson. Relaxing in it's own way. Plus my schedule is so erratic it makes anything but private lessons undoable.

It would be nice but I've already forgotten most of the moves. I could probably piece it together from the video but remember I only learned one side of it...Obi Wan's part.

I might be able to talk to maybe some of the Saber Guild guys in Cali and get a file on the moves.
