Spring, MO Council Elections 2008 - Election Results!

**Instead of making a whole new thread, I am using this one to start the elections...

Elections start 12a, on the 18th running through 12a, January 25th. Each member may select three (3) of the following for Council members (CR elections will follow once CM are set):

It is that time again. It has been proposed to take the council down to three members (including the CR) due to our very low membership. If anyone has a comment or suggest please feel free to post them here.

Elections:

Here is how it will work. A council of 3 members will be voted for at the beginning of the year. After those three members have been chosen there will be a second vote for CR to be selected from the three council members. The entire St. Louis FanForce votes for the council and the CR afterward.

The current council includes:

Who is eligible for Council:

You must be 18 years of age to be either CR or council. (CR is as per FF rules, council we decided).

Must reside in the St. Louis area (FanForce rules for CR).

You must have at least 50 posts to the boards as a whole, most of which are on StLFF (for small amounts).

CR must make at least 6 meetings or social events a year. (Social event would be a beer meeting, or board announced get together with more than 4 total official members.) This can be slightly waived at this point, but CR must have been to several meetings in the past and make more in the future. Not going to meetings is grounds for dismissal (see later).

Council must make at least 3 meetings a year or 1/4 the total amount of meetings. Again, this can be waived to a point.



Nominations:

Please use this thread to nominate potential council members or PM them to me if you want to remain relatively anonymous.

Self nominations are perfectly fine.

If someone who is nominated does not wish to be considered for council either post in the thread or PM me. Make sure it is clear that you are declining the nomination.


Chapter Rep:

Elections for chapter rep will be held after the elections for council have completed and everyone has accepted the position.

There may be a one to two week lag between the Council and CR elections to make sure everyone is on the same page and there are no problems.

If any council member does not wish to be considered for CR s/he may say so at this time. That person then is not on the CR "Ballot".

CR must attend at least 1/2 of the yearly meetings.


Duties of CR and the Council

Organize and plan meetings. They will gather the info and make the arrangements for the meetings (i.e. call places, get times set up etc). This doesn't mean everyone can't suggest places and volunteer to help with stuff. That is the job of every member. But CR and council will make sure all the details are taken care of.

CR and council will make the rules of the boards together and the CR will enforce them. Enforcing them means letting the RSA know if there is a problem that needs a ban or edit, and being in contact with an RSA on such issues.

CR and council members will swap writing the scrolling banner and writing the information for the main page each month. The person responsible each month will get the scroll bar submitted as soon as meeting/new is announced and decided. The main page info will be submitted within a week to 4 days before the meeting

CR will make all announcements from the council decisions. S/He will also act as a "president" of the club and council. The council is like the "senate." Both CR and Counci

 

Not to confuse things, but do we really even need a council anymore?

As I recall, the reason it was created in the first place is that we had a lot on our plate around the Ep III premiere and trying to get input from the entire group (which was considerable at that time) was impossible. But now, there's nothing on our plate typically besides our monthly meetings, there's very few people, and most of the people we do have are rather indifferent. This seems to negate the entire need for having a council anymore. Looking at the "responsibilities" it would seem the only one that has been an issue in recent memory is that concerning writing banners. And let's be fair. How hard is that? I'd volunteer to do all of them and wouldn't even ask for a special title.

So I suppose instead of voting for council members, I move to dissolve the council (permanently) and give control to the regional governors... er.... members, in the hope that this extra responsibility may help other people feel more involved.

Meanwhile, if the council is kept and lowered to 3 members, then there would definitely need to be some revision of the policies as it currently states that it takes 3 votes to remove a CR and there's only 3 people. I don't think it was intended to be unanimous. Thus, such things would need to be scaled.

Well the problem is we need someone to come in and post the meeting threads, etc. and as a go between with the RSA. I believe, I could be wrong here. And if there has to be at least one person in charge it is always good to have a few others to keep that person from becoming a tyrannical emperor or from disappearing and not posting on our boards or participating or showing up to meetings and just using the title as a perk on other boards. So with that in mind I nominate;
