    Thank god.

I love cricket, but this drawn out process has really dented my enthusiasm. I haven't been paying as much attention as I thought I would at the beginning of the Cup.

Agreed. I was also expecting to pay closer attention to more games, but hey we are at the important end of the tournament now, so all is great!

Any Kiwi fans want to have a little wager on the next game?

If New Zealand win, you can pick my signature, icon and colors for 48 hours. If Australia win, I get to pick your signature and icon for 24 (like JP and I did during the triangular series)

I was thinking about doing the same, but I'm in no position at the moment to do it. I'm currently on one already... :( ...and I have one backed up ready to replace this one, too... :(

    :(

    You're here? :p

I do agree with you to a point, but I still enjoy getting up each morning to hear about it. Still, the time difference does make it harder to enjoy for us, I think. The semi-finals and final will be exciting though - definitely watching them.

Well, the Windies cleaned up Bangladesh. There's only two games left now.

Tonight is the killer. Aus vs NZ. :D :D :D

The Windies vs England is the final game. Lara announced that this would be his final international cricket match, too. Linky. Sad to see him go, but it's been in the making for awhile, I think....

    That was ****.

Glad I decided not to stay up after the league pasting to watch an even worse defeat at the hands of the aussies.

Still, our last 4 game record is now 3-1 to the Black Caps ;)

    And... go the Proteas!

Boy, New Zealand... you had better lift your chins in the semi-finals and put your game on. That one will be tough at this rate. I'm gunnin' for you, though.

The Windies are putting a good score up tonight against England. Probably a score they'll win with, too.

All up to Nixon - 17 off 14 balls now

12 off 12 now, with 2 wickets in hand - Nixon got 17 off that last over

Edit. England win by 1 wicket off the second last ball

I said this in the other thread -- Pietersen should be banned from cricket for pissing on Lara's parade.

    ****
    What a match, though

Yes, what poor form for a professional player not to play his best in a World Cup match

I think it's more disrespectful for a player to announce his retirement in the middle of a tournament, rather than wait until the end.

I think he was kidding about Pietersen, mate.

And no, if you're as big in the game as Brian Lara, you announce your retirement before your last game so your fans can come and give you a decent send off.

    Agree with jp, I do.

Man, reports are basically saying that that was the best game of the World Cup. Right at the end of it. Wow. It sounds like it was fantastic.

As far as finishes go, that was up there with the England vs Sri Lanka match, but the scores were a lot higher this time. At the start, England were written off, but Vaughan actually managed to score more than 1 run

I was surprised Vaughan wasn't man of the match, considering he took 3 wickets on top ofhis 70-odd runs.

nice final game by Vaughan, but hopefully (for England's sake) it's not enough to keep his spot going forward. new coach, new captain, new era. they need to move forward.

Do you think Vaughan should retire on his own?

Or would you just rather him step down as captain, but still play?

Big game tonight. NZ / Sri Lanka.

    Bond back. Malinga back...

Oram should be back too to strengtyhen the bowling and batting.

Malinga's the worry. The kiwis haven't figured out how to play him yet. [face_worried]

May have to skip watching the local ANZAC parade if it's getting tight arounf 9am tomorrow.

I must be the only one who has enjoyed this world cup. The world cup has coincided with part of my vacation and I've spent a lot of my nights(the games are from 7pm-3am for me) watching the WC.

I think Sri Lanka will win tonight. I won't be watching the whole game because there is champions league football starting around halfway through the match [face_plain]

Please make me happy when I wake up oh Great Lord of Cricket.
