im the same height but weigh more, i got the XL. but if your wanting it for more than just parties and such, then i reccommend gettin parts and doing it up. thats what i ended up doing. youll die in the rubbies sauna suit.

besides, youll have to do TONS of modding just to get it to look halfway right.

Hi Guys i have modded my Rubies Chestbox.

First i had make the Coinslots more accurte and closer too the originals
    http://img411.imageshack.us/img411/7631/img0899sd1.jpg
    http://img411.imageshack.us/img411/299/img0900iu1.jpg
    After i prime it.
    http://img411.imageshack.us/img411/2172/img0904vk0.jpg

After this i paint the box newe in gloss black and gunmetal silver for the coinslots and rockerswitches
    http://img98.imageshack.us/img98/8268/img1012fa1.jpg
    http://img513.imageshack.us/img513/8871/img1013xh3.jpg
And i had repaint the red button, too.
With Red acryl i make the "windows" for the coinslots and the red button light.

I make to rods on the BOx and use the old Portumac Elekric for inside the Rubies Box.
    http://img377.imageshack.us/img377/2716/img1047ys9.jpg
    http://img377.imageshack.us/img377/6903/img1045rd2.jpg
    http://img407.imageshack.us/img407/8116/img1048rj0.jpg

I bulid after this all , a new backplate for the Rubiesbox and atached Velcro on it.
    http://img510.imageshack.us/img510/3976/img1049wc4.jpg
    http://img66.imageshack.us/img66/6387/img1050rs9.jpg
So it looks like at my Vader:
    http://img338.imageshack.us/img338/8341/img1056ox3.jpg
    http://img338.imageshack.us/img338/3056/img1057kz1.jpg
    http://img98.imageshack.us/img98/9932/img1058jc0.jpg

So i think, one more step closer to movie accurate.

The velcro is very strong , and i think that it will not move or the box will fall down, while wear the costume.

    Greetings from Germany :)

why did ya make a new backplate? the original works fine. the batt compartment can be used as is with new electrics wired to it, the switch is the only possible have to swapout part. thats how i did mine, and also i cut off the plastic slots and installed machined metal ones.

Because the Batterycase form the Portumac elektric i use ,is to big that the old backplate not fit.
    But the main reason is:

If you make the Velcro at the original Backpalte, than you'll see the velcro , if you look from the side to the box.
Because the velcro is 2,5 mm thick.

But now as i had make my own backplate i have 2 mm between the backplate and the suit.
i screw it direkt on the attachment ( where you screw the screws in).
it's not easy for explain for me in english.

So the velcro is with both sides now flush with the suit and the box.
You not see how the box is attach at the suit.

S_S edit: I'm sorry but selling costumes/props is against the forum rules, unless you are posting a link to your own listed eBay auction.

Please see the Welcome and thread index for all our forum policies.

    Thanks!

as i said, the original rubies batt compoartment can be wired onto from any board that uses 2 AA as a source. just clip off the porty batt holder and solder the leads onto the rubies batt compartment.

    Hi,

Long time since posting, just to let you know what I've been up to. At the moment I'm concerntrating on my R2 D2 project, a few in the Norwich SW club are making R2 units, theirs are going to be static models, but I'm making mine radio controlled. Here's a pic of the project so far, this isn't based on any other persons plans, it's all my own work and design construction, just finished all the front measurements to mark out and to cut the plastic.

    [image=http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x168/Hummerth2/R2D2%20Construction/R2D2-Project.jpg]

Hoschi, thought you might like to see my chestbox modifications. I had actual new alloy rods made, had the chestbox sprayed gloss black and silver, then swapped the lights around, also cleaned paint off red switch and painted onthe inside, looks so much better now.

I reckon I will be wearing my Vader costume a couple of times this year, Norwich Lord Mayors and the SW club are holding a Toy Fair, so I would like to attend that.

Hey guys, long time and no postings from me. I've been busy with other stuff. But now I am working full tilt on my Rubies Vader mods. I have a new body suit on the way, and I am getting a lightsaber clip, codpiece and belt box screws from sitharmor. I have been working on making the mods to my helmet, but I need help.

I cannot seem to find the postings where seduced posted pics and info about the fan setup in his helmet. Can anybody tell me what size fan was used for the top of the helmet? I have the one for the mouth screen area, but before I go spend the cash, I want to be sure to get the right one.

Thanks for that LAN, but I am not intending on joining the 501st. My costume will not be accurate enough for them. Plus I don't want to spend more time trudging through another forum trying to find this one tidbit of information. I am simply looking for the size of the fan that seduced used in the top portion of his Rubies helmet.

    Hey Martin,

I sent you a PM with a link where to buy the exact fan I use. It is an 80mm PCI slot case fan. I had to remove the metal grill on the front of the fan so it would fit in the mask. The shape is perfect and the fan fits in the crown nicely. I have two 9 volt batteries that sit underneath the fan. One powers the fan in the grille and the other the PCI fan. I bought two 9 volt battery metal clip holders from Radio Shack and velcroed them in the top of the mask. I then put a small strip of velcro on each of the battery holders which would hold the PCI fan in place. So the PCI fan sits on top of the batteries which put the fan exhaust in a perfect position just above the lip of the crown.

Thanks for that Seduced, and don't worry about e-mailing me pictures. I have all the info I need from the above pics. I even checked locally, and I will be able to get almost the same fan at Micro Center for $6.00. I am going there tomorrow! Yippee!

No problem. It's weird though, I haven't checked this board in months but it's like I felt I had to check it yesterday for some reason. When I saw your PM I figured it would be weeks old instead of only hours. Maybe there really is a Force! Now all I need to work on is the mind trick so I can get people to do what I want!

Thanx ericT for encouraging me (way back on page 2). I am 5 foot 11, and femine and was greatly discouraged by the fact that to look good as Darth Vader you need to be taller. So what? Surly the enjoyment of costuming is dressing up as the character, no matter your height or stature. I don't care bantha fodder about other people who think I'm too small, or too thin.
Anyways I was thinking of buyin the Rubies suit on ebay but now I think I'll either go the whole hog and buy a fan made one, or make my own using parts available on ebay. It may be more expensive, but I will feel like the real deal without any guilt.:) Not that I'll be able to complete this in a week, being just a very poor student! It wil probably take me several years...

Hey Guys! Its been a while since my last post (as usual). Keeping busy I see. I wanted to commend all of you on your hard work! You've really taken the Rubies costume, and made it something really nice! Well done! I've been doing some upgrades myself. I finally after about 3 years decided to make my OT belt screen accurate for ROTS. I'm wondering if anyone has cast the rubies shins in ABS? any info would be much appreciated. here are a couple cool shots from several events Garrison Carida has appeared at. First my belt, second is from the Franklin Institute exibit STAR WARS: where the science meets the imagination. And then Vader VS. the PHILLY PHANATIC!!! And lastly a random group shot. Keep up the great work guys!!!!
