Disney Buys LucasFilm: Star Wars 7 Planned To Release 2015

I have a bad feeling about this. How will this effect the current EU?

I'm not gonna lie, I have no problem with Disney owning Lucasfilm, it worked out well with Marvel, but STAR WARS 7. I REALLY hope that's a working title and not a direct continuation of ROTJ.

I don't mind Disney owning LucasFilms, but let's hope they don't mess with continuity and the EU. As for a 7th film? I wouldn't mind seeing another movie. Maybe they'll do a really awesome job at it.

I don't think it will actually be Episode VII. I think that story is over (sorry EU fans). I think it's Star Wars #7.

I agree, GL had to hand it off to someone eventually, and they did knock one out of the park with 'The Avengers.' I am optimistic. On whether or not it will be a continuation of the original storyline, I'd think they would do a brand new thing (no Luke, Han, etc.) Then again it might not even actually be "Episode VII" It's not like they have the script written already (I'm assuming) so it could conceivably be a standalone story arc in the SW universe. I think it would be awesome if they did a trilogy in the Old Republic timeline, it would be fresh and new.

Once again, pointing to Marvel, Disney seems to be content with letting companies do they're own thing so I think we'll be good in that regard.

 

I rather see a Star Wars spin off, than a part 7.

I doubt that Disney will interfere with production

however I still think Lucas hasn't just given it to Disney just like that out the blue

IF this is true, and if it is IO believe it's one of those sensationalist news items Lucas will still be in control of the whole thing

 

What does this mean for the old movies? Could Disney release the OT with out the new stuff and with out Lucas saying okey?
