Dragon*Con

Dragon*Con is coming up in 135 days!

So are we all still planning to go?

We should start planning soon...maybe look into the hotels and stuff.

I'm going (hopefully be driving there!) and if Sam doesn't go I'm gonna have to force someone else to go with me!


I'd like to see about going Thursday if anyone still wants to do that.

Sandra and I are planning on being there Thursday evening as well. We'll be sharing a room with Charles(aka: allie fox) and Russell from the Macon Clones.

My fiance...er..WIFE as of this coming Saturday...and I are going. Thats where we met after all!! It'll be my 3rd DragonCON and her 2nd. We'll likely get our own room for privacy reasons. But we'll also likely not head down until Friday morning.

For those of you old enough (and brave enough) you may find your way with us to some of the more....interesting...parties in the hotel as Kat and I know where most of them are. But we definitely need to hang some as a whole group while we're there.

Anyone really good at sewing? Kat and I have Jedi costume ideas we need to see turned to reality. I am presently sewing machine-less and have limited costuming skills (those cool costumes you've seen in some of my pics are the results of guidance from others, others work or sheer luck).

Yeah, I've been talking with some non-SW friends about it too! How many do you think are coming with you if they come? Do you need a ride? And I think there would be 2 or 3 at the most that would come with me...1 anime/comic geek and 2 LOTR geeks

Hey all!

Here is a bit of advice from someone who has survived 3 Dragon*Cons. If you're going to stay in one of the con hotels, stay in the Marriott. Yes, it is a bit more expensive than the Hyatt, but it is much less crowded at night. I don't know if any of you have ever tried to catch a Hyatt elevator after 6:00 p.m., but it is nigh on impossible. My friend and I ended up having to walk up 14 flights of stairs to get to her room in the Hyatt on Saturday night. You'll have to wait for elevators in the Marriott at times, but it isn't as crazy as the Hyatt.

If you like waiting for elevators, and love a lobby so full of costumed folks and the associated gawkers that come with them that you cannot even walk through it, then stay in the Hyatt.

 

Believe me, that's where I'll be staying if I stay at one of them! Just from going last year I figured the Marriott is a much better one to stay at for me...I'll stay in the mellow one

But I have to find money in order to stay in one of the hotels...

Yeah, I'm still working things out...I might even be staying with my sister's friend! That's what I did last year but I couldn't drive so I had to get my sister to drive me...and I didn't always get there on time!

Where is the FanForce booth gonna be at? At the base of the Marriot outside the dealer's room? Thats where I saw alot of people set up in Star Wars garb last year (largely the 501st).

We will not know exactly where they'll be putting our table until the day we register, which will be on Friday, Sept. 3rd, I believe.

I do hope they put us near the other SW groups.

Also, a friend and I decided to reserve a room at the Marriott Courtyard, which is about 1 block away from the convention hotels. We're trying to save money and have some peace and quiet once we're ready to call it a day.

Rest at the end of the day? There is no such thing. There is only choosing the party or your room to pass out in.

Getting old? I'm 30! And yes, I'll be regretting it for the first week or so afterwords! But the memories will change my regrets by the end of the next week. >

It is the 3rd through the 6th, although most folks spend most of the 6th getting their stuff packed up and heading back home.

There's been a change in plans, I think that my friends and I will be staying at the Marriott Marquis on the Friday and Saturday night of the con, and then we'll be moving over to the Marriott Courtyard for Sunday night. Usually, I commute into the con. But it is a pain to do that, especially since it is about a 30 minute drive from my house to the downtown area.

We will be setting up a FanForce table, for which I will soon be recruiting volunteers. We'll also be holding a FanForce dinner on Saturday night, just like last year. More information on all of this will be forthcoming.
