I don't know how many of you check out the Aus Gen forums but there is a thread about DVD's going in there and 2 people have mentioned the LotR DVD... Here's what they had to say about release dates etc...

mauls-menace "August 6 The Lord of the Rings :The Fellowship of the Ring comes out in a 2 disc set ......... But wait there's more, I'd say most people now this but here goes anyway in November a 4 and 5 disc version will be realeased containing approx. 40 extra minutes of footage.

That's if you can wait that long!! I can't so I'll be getting both the 2 disc and 5 disc versions!! :D
    "

wedge3210 "Here's the specs (and prices) on the three editions.

I'd wait till it's in shops before pre-ordering them cause I've seen the 2-disk edition for $30 out and about. And I'm hoping the big November release is a little less expensive than what's quoted there.

On TheForce.net main page they have updated with a article from a source saying that the Episode 2 VHS and DVD releases is now going to be November 12th which is 2 weeks earlier which is great news.

Yeah I love those types of Documentries and the cover looks great. Strange why they are releasing a Full Screen DVD version as well as a Wide Screen DVD version.

I will be getting the Wide Screen DVD anyway but I'm a little annoyed that us DVD users are going to miss out on the 'Star Wars Connections' featurettes that are only on the AOTC VHS. Oh well I look forward to getting it :)

I was just going to post that information about Back To The Future Trilogy but you beat me SK. Yeah I can't wait for that and I also loved Monsters Inc' so I will be getting that also.

Also Lord of the Rings. Which version will everyone be buying since there are 2 versions, Theatrical release DVD (2 CD's) or Extended Version DVD (3 CD's)?

Ah who cares, I'll wait and get the Extended Version DVD, I'll borrow the 2 Disc set in the meantime.

Actually the Lord of the Rings has more than 2 versions of the DVD, and a lot of people are going to get burnt by it..... most of the Video places taking pre-orders for the DVD are only offering the rental edition, which is a one disc version with bog all special features...

If you do get it from a Video place ask before you put any money down...
