Rewatched the Mandalore arc from Season 2. I totally forgot that Vizsla once looked like this:

Well, I didn't remember Bo Katan when I reviewed this episode and I feel like a dumbass. Adding A Friend in Need to episodes I need to rewatch.

Watching Cloak of Darkness right now.

For the most part Ahsoka, as usual, needs to shut up. "This is boring! He doesn't look dangerous!" Seriously? And then arguing with Luminara about her fighting abilities.

But her channeling Anakin and threatening to gut Gunray like a Rodarian dirt fish was awesome. As was her smack down by Luminara. Twice.

On the other hand..."If I leave, you won't go anywhere, will you?", threatening to kill Ventress and then telling the clones to shoot her? LMAO and SMH

Ah, Ventress..."always a pleasure to see you, my dear." As badass as always, and the "Skywalker's filthy obnoxious little pet" line is one of my favorites in the series.

Clone banter was actually decent here.

"Open this door and I'll buy you a planet!" Laaaaamme.

    The Ventress/Luminara fight rocks.

But good grief, not so much as a reprimand for Ahsoka? Luminara basically submitting to her oh-so-infinite wisdom? *headdesk*

Ventress gutting the arrogant traitorous guard was worth at least 5 points right there.

    Solid episode. 9/10

    About "Cloak of Darkness":

Two things are really annoying me: That Ashoka can easily keep up with Ventress and her saying: Oh no, Luminara has no idea who she is fighting, she obviously needs my help! Alone she will never make it out alive, and her being a Jedi Master means nothing compared to my Super-Padawan skills!

[face_frustrated]You're still a Padawan, Ashoka, you still are.

Despite Ashoka being the Super-Padawan, I like this episode and actually it might be one of my favourites from Season 1.

Watching Corruption and The Academy. If those two had starred Satine and anyone else, instead of Padme and Ahsoka, imagine how much better they'd be. According to one of the Essential Guides, I hear this duology chronologically follows the Mandalore arc of season 2. If Obi-Wan was allowed to escort Satine back to Mandalore, the academy would have a better substitute teacher than Ahsoka. We'd also get some more 'Obi-Wan & Satine' development. But there's the issue of such a high-profile Jedi: he could go undercover and use the codename Ben.

Padme was a bad influence but wouldn't Satine still be a little out of established character in "Corruption" if another character were with her? Obi-wan seems a little busy to be a substitute teacher. I'm not sure who to use as the sub there.

    Yoda? :D
Ugh, those out-of-character moments for Satine. It appears to me that, because they have an established relationship, Obi-Wan would confront her odd behavior (and encourage her to not say 'corruption' so much!). Alas, we are stuck with these two crappy episodes.

Yeah, I was referring to this a few days ago when I said I remembered why I so disliked Ahsoka in the past.

As I said, Super-Padawan made me a not-very-happy viewer - it might be okay if Ahsoka was right sometimes (to show how the old CAN learn from the young) but gosh, she was the chirpy correct one way too often. And then she gets deferred to, not just thanked.

That's why Ahsoka bothers me less now. She's a lot more competent, and sure, once in awhile may even look a little too competent, but the really important thing she is more quiet.

She seems more Mary-Sue-ish now that she is more "quiet" (i.e. mature). And as much as she bothers me in the episodes that I've posted about, she bothers me even more now.

    Bounty:
I decided to watch this episode for the first time this afternoon (I'm not too sure why I missed it the first time), and to say I was pleasantly surprised is an understatement. Season 4 is my least favourite of the first four seasons, with only one (IMO) excellent episodes. This changed that.
The premise of having an entire episode about Ventress' journey and her badassery is hugely appealing for me as fan of her from the original CW comics, so I really should've watched this episode earlier.
I really liked the beginning; the outskirts of Mos Eisley look truly backwater and it is cool to see the outside of the township, too.
Whoever does Ventress' VA is great, and deserves far more praise than she receives (this is always how I imagined she spoke from the comics, and this ep is her time to truly shine).
Not too sure why there were little consequences of killing a patron in cold blood, that was weird.
Boba's outfit/design was really good this time. Furthermore, he seemed far less angsty after the S2 arc.
I don't know how I feel about Dengar and Bossk appearing with Boba; makes the galaxy seem smaller than it should be.
Have we meet these other bounty hunters before? They're awesome, especially the pink lady. That weapon of hers is awesome!
Cool planet design for the setting, too! The subterranean caverns, the train (train battles are awesome no matter if it's SW), the spacedock/turbolifts - loved it, it felt very gritty, very TESB-y.
The fighting was really down in this episode, and the restrained use of the lightsaber was nice for a change.
    Ventress kicked ass!
The droid spinning and firing simultaneously was very sweet.
The ninja design of the enemies was a bit uninspired, but I really liked the look of the brother character, especially the eyes.
Why did Bossk touch his non-existent headpiece when responding to Boba?
The content about the stealing the girl as basically a sex wife for the despot was really dark stuff for TCW, even darker, imo, than the murder of kids by Maul later in the season.

The second best of the season after Carnage of Krell.
    9/10

To be honest I thought Ahsoka was fine in The Academy. Its Korkie and the Scooby Doo gang I could have done without.

Despite how bad as those two episodes are I do appreciate seeing Satine established as a bit of a mainstay character, though I always thought she still could've been a bit more prominant throughout the series than she has been.

I thought Satine's brief and mostly silent appearance in "A Friend in Need" was one of the most interesting things in all the episode. How bored she looked watching the peace talks.

Rewatched the Gunray trilogy of Season 1. Bombad Jedi sucks as always - Jar Jar was not a winning character in S1. Gunray may be stupid but mistaking Jar Jar for a Jedi? No.

Cloak of Darkness remains as awesome as I remember it. Ventress proves her worth to Sidious, which is a very interesting scene in retrospect, when we think of the Nightsisters Trilogy. Sidious wants her to be competent, but not too competent. Argyus was really the first "traitor" we got, and I like his arguments vs. Gree's. Gunray has awesome dialogue. Ahsoka is a little (read: very) mary-sue in this episode, but the fact that the CIS succeeds and Ahsoka is given dark-side hints makes up for that.

Lair of Grievous, enjoyable as always. I find myself wishing they had done the entire episode from Grievous' perspective though. That would've made the episode even more entertaining, and we could have got true insight into how Grievous' mind works. I also wish the episode had been different to allow Grievous to win. Maybe they could have had Gunray still on Vassek, and it be Grievous' goal to fend off Fisto and Vebb until he could escape. That way killing Vebb would seem more of a victory, rather than a "I expected that, but you let Fisto escape you idiot."

Lair of Grievous was so predictable even for TCW. I agree that episode would have been really cool through Grievous's perspective with him a little more than the monster of the week that round. One of the big problems with him is how TCW treats him like Goldar.

I'm watching Lair of Grievous right now.

The fact that Kit Fisto is a main character gives it points right away. He was a badass the entire episode. And I like his relationship with Nadar.

The scene when they're entering the chamber reminds me of the entrance to the living room in the Riddle House in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.

Shut up droids. Seriously. Shut up.

Gunray was annoying too but Kit Fisto had him nailed. "He'll run screaming like the coward he is."

Geez, how many face masks does Grievous have?

Cool fight with Grievous and ouch, did his med droid just verbally pwn him or what?

Decent use of "I have a bad feeling about this" and dialogue between Fisto and Grievous.

Ah, rancor homage. Not great, but OK.

I actually felt sorry for Grievous when he found out that Dooku had set him up.

Somehow I think that Nadar went to the Anakin Skywalker School of Padawanship. A spitfire, that one. And yes, I choked up when he died. Just the look on Kit Fisto's face. :_|

"To answer power with power, the Jedi way this is not. A danger in this war there is, of losing who we are."
