Chatted to Suzi about this, keeping the thread open to NW/NE for now, though my post below is more aimed at doing something in the NW region.

Is anyone up for doing something on Halloween this year?
Coz and I may go for the Shiverpool walk ( http://www.shiverpool.co.uk/bookings.html )on the weekend before 27/28th.

They seem to have a few varied walks now:

    The Hope Street Shivers tour
leaves from the Philharmonic Pub on Hope Street
and runs 7 days a week, on a demand basis, beginning at:

    7pm, 8:30pm, 10:00pm

Meet Liverpool's most famous ghost on a hellish night on Hope Street...and end to die for!

    The Auld City Shivers tour
begins and ends in ? The Slaughter House' on Fenwick Street and runs 7 days a week, on a demand basis, beginning at:

    7pm, 8:30pm, 10:00pm

Sample the great ale, steeped atmosphere and friendly staff. Then meet Ghosts and Ghouls along your winding path. Discover the piercing screams of prisoners still heard today. Hear the story of the forlorn Liver Birds and the secrets of Elbow Lane , finally finish in the basement of the Slaughter House where the Butcher awaits?

    The Shiver Me Timbers tour
begins at our premises at Anchor Courtyard, Albert Dock and runs 7 days a week, on a demand basis, beginning at:

    4pm, 5:30pm, 7:00pm, 8:30pm

Shiverpool are bringing to you a superb new tour helping you to discover the history and mystery that lies beneath the famous murky Mersey waters. What secrets would these old bricks reveal (all 23 million of them) if only they could speak? Listen closely and our live re-enactments of the Albert Dock's spectacular stories will reveal all!

    Prices

    Adults: £8.50
    Children: £7
Groups of 10 or more: £7 per head

Anyone else interested? I'll have to book asap

The other Halloween thing would be on 31st itself in Liverpool - the Latern Parade up at Sefton Park. It starts at 6:30pm on the Wednesday, though I am at work till 7pm, so I will be late to this. But may be worth seeing - http://www.liverpoollanterncompany.co.uk/

Lastly - November 5, bonfire night, etc. Anyone think we should do something? 5th is a Monday this year, so it's be 3rd or 4th November.

Coz, fingers crossed you can make a Sat then - and maybe we need to get one of the earlier ones since you'll need to get back home from Liverpool and a meal Martina?

Don't worry about the Lantern parade tho, I have a feeling because of work I'll miss most of it - I finish at 7pm and stil have to get into the place - could take me 30 or so mins to do that. Maybe more depending on trains from Bootle.

Aye wouldn't want to do it too late, but would be cool when it's just getting dark.

5:30 or 7pm Shiver me Timbers one maybe then? We could have meal beforehand, do some sightseeing during the day - like Cathedral etc?

I'd say the Shivers one because I believe (and need to check) the Shivers is a Halloween only special, so we could do others another time.

I'll see if Katherine is up for one of these too.

I was trying to keep it a bit more local for people thinking its going to be around a weekend and people dont want to be spending vast ammounts of money on traveling just best to meet up in one local spot and enjoy the night then afterwards grab something to eat and chill.

    North West members!

Still trying to get through to Shiverpool, will try again today.
What time do we want to meet up - are we making a day of this? I am fine with that, can come up any time on Saturday.

Was hoping to come to Manchester this week too, maybe sort out a mini meet but until 27th or 28th trains are off between Southport and Wigan, making the journey a royal pain.

If you want, we can start midday if you feel like a few more hours lie-in :p
But I reckon by the end of the day, we'll all be hiding under our covers hehe.

I finally got through to Shiverpool, they were very nice and polite (and only have one phone line currently), but the Docks tour only starts from the 31st. Their other tours only have 10pm slots available :( . So instead ...

Coz and myself are preparing a little walk around Liverpool, following some of the more grizzly and spooky stories (a lot comes from Liverpool's ghost master extraordinaire Tom Slemen) ... we have banshees (and damn the banshee story keeps sending shivers down my spine), spectral abduction, time warps, messing with the devil in the Cavern, vampires, and a mysterious ninja attack!!! And a few other stories. I'll also be telling you the tale of two more close-by (but sadly not really in walking distance for the day) events ... one of them is Spring Heeled Jack in Everton!

I have a good feeling this will be fun, like last time :)
