My Computer is running really well and I was very lucky yesterday, Harvey Norman got in 2 PCI, 32MB Geforce 2's so I've put it on layby so now I can play better games and I don't have to put up with my stupid 8MB one anymore.

I just hope it's compatible with my brand of PC but I've been told it is and that Nvidia are pretty compatible with most brands of computers.

 

Well I picked up my second PC today. Its a Shuttle SV24 bare bones system, I'm going to be customizing it over the next few days. It will be my LAN GAMING machine and I will use it for 3D Modelling and Video Editing until I have upgraded my tower. Its about the size of a gamecube, which makes it easy to transport. Its also 100% aluminum so not only is it light but it looks very cool. Here's a pic:

Lost faith in my PC, sellin it, already found a buyer that doesnt care about its overheating probs... so Im upgrading, ordered the Motherboard today... look at it, Awsome colour..

Does anyone know if a GeForce 2 MX would run on a Compaq Pressario 5000 machine?

I've been told that Nvidia cards run on any machine.

 

Shouldn't have a problem with your card unless it's a cheapo faulty one like the first GeForce card I got. My current one's fine and yes, I've got the 423 with rdram.

The sv24 won't be a beastie P4 system, Id rather put a P4 in my tower case thats why I'm waiting. But this is a good backup PC. I'm throwin in a P3 1ghz with a 80gb hard drive, dvd drive, 1gb of ram and 64mb Geforce 2 MX 400. Theres a new Sound Blaster Crad coming out that I want to add in ther to when its out. My New PCI 32MB Geforce 2mx I'm getting is not cheap at all but It's the only PCI Video Card I have seen in a store for years so I'm really happy. I hope it works *Crosses Fingers*

 

Its a Soltek Board and yes, its athlon..

Lets face facts, Intels stuffed me around for the last time. So im changing brands (soz intel, but u snooze - you loose)..

Gonna wack an athlon XP 1700+ on it. Thats 1.45ghz CPU for anyone who didnt know that athlon now scale thier chips differently. Sure its got a lower clock speed, but it outperforms most intel P4s (equivilent to a P4 1.7Ghz hence the name 1700). Anyhow, half a gig of DDR-ram and yes, my Morpheous Gf3 will make it colourfull and a powerfull beastie to be reckoned with..

All this for about HALF what it would cost to get the same intel... and when it comes to upgrading, the board is compatible with the next 2 to 3 generations of Athlon cpu, so it costs less to upgrade

The Soltek Board, its got rave reviews and friends with older soltek boards have given them the thumbs up for stability/compatability. So heres hoping
should have it ready for the next lan (when is that btw? I forgot to ask at the meeting if we are having another one)

Being a bare bones system you get everything that I listed above except for CPU, RAM, HARD DISK, DVD DRIVE and the GeFORCE 2. Everything else is built on to the mainboard, yes including sound, LAN and 1396 Firewire ports (very handy if you want to capture video). All for the low price $295.

I will bring it around for you when I have everything installed.

Hey wookie you just gave me the sweetest of ideas!!

I could throw this in the boot or glovebox plug my Flatpanel up in the car and run myself a Car DVD or MP3 System. I'm getted to work on this one, see if it would work or not.... hmmm now I just need a power source....

The palm pilot i'm getting next week has a built in mp3 player in it and a car kit

I am going to build a cradle for it in the new car.... sweeeeet
