I have recently (like for three years) been repressing my natural geekyness, but it recently won its freedom and ive decided to go balls to the wall geeky. i think i need a geek support group. right? anyhoo. . .so i think new people should probably be a little quieter, and that means i should shut up right now. :p

Well, I'm a geek, just not in the "All-knowing Star Wars Trivia" thing. Don't get me wrong. I'm a huge fan of it, I just dont know as much stuff about it as I should.

    BTW, Welcome.

I'm not a geek, I just spend my spare time in ways that would mislead you that I am one.

I'm not a geek. *looks at title* oh wait, yes I am.

*note* I'm not saying that being a CR means I'm a geek.

I'm more of a Ska/rock/alternative guy than "punk rocker". Mind you, I can never keep track of what definitions apply to what bands.
    Sum 41
    Fuel
    Finger Eleven
Treble Charger (AMAZING group! go check them out)
    Weezer
    Smash Mouth
    Our Lady Peace
    Red Hot Chili Peppers
    Incubus
    Hoobastank
    A New Found Glory

What type of stuff is this?
I also listen to tons of other types.

Welcome, LakSivrak. It's always nice to greet new people.

    Speaking of geek...

On Saturday night, my wife and I went to the Training Table in Provo for Dinner. At the table accross from us was a family with their two married kids and grandchild. The two brother-in-laws proceeded to tell their parents about their experience at the Midnight Showing of AOTC on the first night. This, of course, peaked my interest as I continued to eavesdrop on the conversation.

"Let me tell you, it was a total FREAKFEST!" exclaimed one of the brother-in-laws. "Every FREAK on the planet was there in costume!" he said.

At that point I almost stood up and told that guy off. I really wanted to tell him how hard many of those "freaks" worked on their costumes and how many of them use their costumes for charitable purposes and other worthy causes.

I then thought to myself, "Hmmmm. These two guys were at the midnight showing of the 1st night of release. Doesn't that fact alone qualify them as 'freaks' too?" ;)

The other brother-in-law continued to relate how much "fun" they had that night. They said their favorite costume was some guy who made a Darth Vader mask out of duct tape. They called him "Duct Vader."

After thinking about it for a while, I wan't so mad anymore. We've been called worse. Hey, even Peter Parker was called a freak right? :D

Duct Vader? ouch! (actually, the real ouch would be takng the mask off!)

As for the geek factor, just ask, what OS are you using to write your post? Therein lies the answer to the true geek question.

    AQUABATS!
I love some of their songs, but others really suck.

    Good Aquabats song list:
Attacked by Snakes! (or Fury of the Aquabats)
    Powdered Toast Man
    Chemical Bomb
    Super Rad
    Fight Song
    Red Sweater
    Story of Nothing
    Ska Robot Army
    My Skateboard

But yeah, I know you haven't heard of Treble Charger: that doesn't matter, go find their music. Some of my favorites:
    Business
    Wear Me Down
    Red
    Hundred Million
    Favorite Worst Enemy
    American Psycho
    Just What They Told Me
    Cheat Away
    Another Dollar

I'm serious, this is my all time favorite band.

Hmmm. As far as Aquabats songs go, I like the following songs most: Lotto Fever, Lovers of Loving Love, Antimatter, Playdough, and Powdered Milk Man. Although I'd have to say Iced Earth is much better (I'm listening to them right now. They're part of my league of favorite bands). Check out the Iced Earth songs Dracula, I Died For You, A Question of Heaven,Melancholy, Wolf, and Dante's Inferno.

Wow, I didn't know that I was surrounded by other music nerds...
Well, Zeppelin takes the cake, but other than that, I listen to EVERYTHING, with the usuall minus country.
I love most stuff on Fat Wreck Chords, and I have played shows with at least 50 punk bands over the last 12 years.
    Five fingers of funk.
    Lots of classic rock.
    Anything 80's.
    Lots of metal.
    Indie.
Instrumental, like Bela Fleck and the flecktones.
Actually, I could never list all the music I like, but I have a funny music history.

My old band is all over the radio nationally, and is getting MTV play time too. They are touring all year.
I used to own a club in the Utah County area that had lots of bands play there every week.
I booked the bands and did sound too.
My new stuff is indie-expierimental-acoustic-instrumental-celtic-melodic stuff.

Anyways, the only thing I like to chat about as much as SW is music, so feel free to email me or IM me.

    Matt
    Jedi Motion

Oh yeah, for all you punk fans, check out my friends band Whippersnapper. They are beyond amazing.

Although there are several different bands on there, I'd have to say I'm partial to REM.
