There is a suggestion circulating that actor Liam Neeson may play the Klingon captain named Kang in the next Trek film. Can anybody confirm this? If correct might we see the reboot of the energy creature that feeds off hatred?

I'm all for this, if he gets to say "We Klingons have no devil, Kirk. But we are aware of the habits of yours".

It would be a sequel to the most recent release, so alternate timeline OS.

For all I care, they can cast Sarah Michelle Gellar as Uhura, so long as they get a new writing team. You know, people who aren't responsible for destroying Jack of All Trades or deficating on popular children's cartoons for the sake of cheap potty-humor laughs.

What the hell are you talking about???

And relevant to the actual topic, I still think it'd be a good casting choice.

He's saying he's not particularly a fan of Orci and Kurtzman, who wrote the first film.

The writers for the JJAbrams movie were responsible for both of the travesties known as The Transformers movies, and the later 1/2 of the TV show "Jack of All Trades", namely, all the lame episodes that sucked the life out of the show and led to it's cancellation.

Well, since the TF movies were not travesties and I've never seen Jack of all trades... disagreeing with you.

And the 2009 Star Trek movie rocked. So, yay!

We've already covered our differences of opinion in the TF thread.

Time for me to shut up (for now) and return this thread to it's intended topic.

    Good luck.

I've been trying to dig up more info on Liam Neeson as Kang.

    Here's the scuttlebutt-

A terrible cross-species disease is spreading through the galaxy. The mysterious Olympian gods offer a cure to every culture affected by the disease - if a certain Olympian puzzle can be solved by the representatives in time. Admiral Pike sends the USS Enterprise and two hospital frigates to represent the UFP. The medical frigates carry a cross reference of infected beings. These orders put a hold on Uhura and Spock's wedding ceremony. Meanwhile The Klingon Empire sends its own representative to the Olympian star system - Commander Kang. The Olympians reject the Klingons and reward the UFP. This angers Kang. Kirk sends the Olympian puzzle back to the Enterprise. Chekov and Scotty begin to study it. Kang returns to his ship and attacks. During the space battle one of the medical frigates is destroyed and the other is in bad shape. McCoy and Uhura (serving as translator) are on the damaged medical frigate. Both become infected. McCoy discovers Uhura is pregnant. The space battle angers the Olympians. Kirk and Kang are forced to witness the future progression of the galaxy-spanning disease. Both the UFP and Klingon Empire fall. For example a sequence involves Kirk's death to save Spock,Uhura and their son. Spock becomes captain and Sulu his XO. Captain Spock and Sulu lead a desperate band of survivors against the infected. Meanwhile Chekov and Scotty are at an impasse on the puzzle. The two are visited by a female Olympian. She has had her eye on Scotty all his life. She is his muse. She is why he is a miracle worker. This Olympian female muse helps Scotty and Chekov beat the puzzle.

That's it. There is no further info. Take it with a grain of salt

Sadly, I can see that being entirely plausible.
But likewise, I hope that isn't going to be the actual working plot of the movie.

I agree. I don't think that would be the actual plot of the film, but I think the general premise would make for a workable Trek film, since TOS did episodes not dissimilar to this in concept. I am thinking in particular of the TOS episode Arena, where the Metrons pitted Kirk against the captain of a Gorn starship as a test.
