I'm happy for them. Why does anyone assume otherwise? Mar's been a big help to me this morning in the Episode III forum with updating my reference thread. And Lobot_Omy has been my buddy in here far before becoming a moderator. He was the very first person to ever add me to their watched users list. He was the first person I added to mine. He was my partner in the recent scavenger hunt. In fact, I wouldn't have been able to get half the answers in the scavenger hunt if it weren't for him. They're going to do great and they already have been. Keep up the good work.

 

Plus everyone knows Lobot is the man when it comes to icons.

PS: Look at some of the promotions. I think SPAM is the best way to get yourself promoted. You can't get promoted without being noticed... Just do it without pissing people off.

 

I wish all the new Mods luck in their roles and hope they prove the doubters wrong. I expect it is hard work to mod a place like this with all the melodrama that is often involved when the decision makers make controversial decisions. That's part and parcel of the role.

We cannot critise people for being potentially bad Mods when they have yet to prove themselves. As we all know these appointments are discussed at great length in the Mod forum.

I hope that the new appointments do not forget what it is like to be an "average Joe" member as this is important in any role that carries responsibility and creates such passion for those of us who use this internet community.

Who was the 'lazy user' who didn't check his PMs? Or has he already checked them?

After updating my WU list to inclue the new mods, I wondered: How many more people watch you now that you're a mod? Does the number go up fast?

 

The very best way you can get noticed as being "Mod potential" is by keeping an eye out for trouble spots and alerting mods when they need to step in. Helpfulness with info threads, indices, and other large projects like that is also a plus. Basically, we look for people who have an interest in improving the JC.

And, of course, congrats to Vertical, Commander Antilles, Lobot_Omy, mar17swgirl, Oakessteve, Julie, Darth Dark Helmet Liz Skywalker, and (I suppose ) farraday!

Heck, just become a VIP for even a little while and watch that thing balloon. About the only thing that grows quicker is the number of PM's you may have titled, "How do I get colors?."
