Hey everybody. We were just browsing the Kennedy Space Center website (kennedyspacecenter.com), and we saw that there is scheduled to be a rocket launch on Thursday August 12th between 7:13-7:34 AM. So, if you're waiting in line or just out and about, make sure you look to the East at that time and have your camera ready. :)

I'll just walk my door and stand on my drive way.

Though I wish so bad that it was a night shuttle launch. Even out the con center you guys would see it and I promise you would never forget it.

I live here and I still am awed by that experience - even after the ... 7th/8th time?

Yeah, I saw a night launch while I was in Orlando in 92. I happened to be sitting by a lake, so I could see the giant ball of flame not only ascending into the dark night, but also reflecting off of the water. True, I still haven't forgotten it. ;)

I was hoping to see the Discovery landing, since it was originally planned to land next week, but since the missions has been delayed that won't be possible. Still if I'm up it would be cool to see a rocket launch.

Very cool. Will we really have a chance of seeing this from where we'll be?

Just look east. Rockets aren't quite as bright as a shuttle launch but yeah, you really will have a chance to see it - assuming there are minimal clouds.

I saw a night launch on Disney property, even with trees and buildings it was a clear view.

I saw a night shuttle launch once from Orlando as well. It was about 4 or 5am. The hotel had actually opened one of the big top-floor suites for people who wanted to watch, but I checked and my balcony faced the right way. I put the TV on to a channel doing a countdown and when it got close I went on the balcony. It was beautiful - just this ball of flame heading skywards! If you get the chance to see a night launch I recommend it!

Let's all hope for sunny weather! Not only for those standing outside, but also so we can all see the rocket launch. :)

Also for anyone that will be driving in the area at this time, or for those that will have a portable radio, you can tune to radio station AM 1240 and AM 1350 to hear the launch coverage.

I've seen a couple of shuttle launches from daytona beach, definately worth the gander if you're able to take a look.

Forget the skies, unless a person heads out of town, the light pollution means they won't see a thing either way. :C
