Hoooray! I got all the stuff for my computer. Here is what I got: ASUS A7A266, AMD 1.33 T-Bird (they were out of the 1.4), nice case, 40GB HD, 256mhz ddr ram,and big fat heatsink and fan for the AMD. All for about $600. A pretty good deal in my opinion. now all I need is a monitor (the 15" i have now is not going to cut it). I ahve been looking at 19" NEC and Viewsonic ones for about $250 (my b-day is comming up and now i know what to ask for). Today I (after work) I will be hooking it up to the network and hit the Internet at cable speed, hmmmmm maybe I'll play a little XWA.
Thanks again to Dan and AA for all the help.

    No problem

lol about keyboards, you can but a $2 adapter for it.

NEC makes nice monitors in my opinion.. but some people disagree with me =/

Looking good. Not sure about the motherboard though. I've heard the chipset is unreliable... but I have the same one and have zero problems. So it shouldn't be a problem. And I don't know much about monitors, sorry.

I just did it (as I'm sure you can tell from abave) and it's really not too hard. I can give a bit of advice and I'm sure AlienAcid and et.al. can hook you up with some solid tips. What windows will you be running?

What happens when you don't use thermal compound between your CPU and Heatsink? ;)

do you really wanna know ;)

the real question is what happens when you use to much ;)

tape is good, but a thermal paste applied properly is better, IF you put it on right.

Anything below 60 is safe... I'm not risking ruining my computer for something I don't need. Last time I did, I fuxored my motherboard.

    If it ain't broke...

Dude... the first time I put my heatsink on... lol, it's too embarassing. I was an idiot. I'll just say it was a DAMN GOOD THING I didn't put it on the first time.
