Alright, I'm going to give this thread another shot. Whether it survives or not... we'll see.

What a finish today in Atlanta! Down 3-0 going into the bottom of the 9th against Philadelphia, only have 4 hits to that point... then a walk, a 2-out Troy Glaus 2-run shot to make it a 3-2 game, followed immediately by a solo home run from - who else - the rookie Jason Heyward. That sent the game into extras, Billy Wagner pitched a scoreless top of the 10th, and Nate McLouth led off the bottom half of the inning by drilling his first homer of the year in walk-off fashion.

Making it hilarious was the entire Braves dugout hurried into the locker room as soon as McLouth hit his shot, so when you would expect the usual mob at home plate, he came back to nobody waiting at the plate and an empty dugout [face_laugh] They mobbed him in the locker room, though :p

Also, I'd like to complain now about the game the other night against the Rockies - 2 outs, bottom of the 9th, Jason Heyward at the plate... and the channel suddenly went to commercials. Came back a minute later to see Heyward getting mobbed for his walk off single. Why in the world do you go to commercials then??

Finally especially for McLouth, certainly. And even for Glaus, that was only #2.

But boy, has Heyward been coming up big in the 9th lately!

Some interesting splits on Heyward so far: (going into tonight's game)

    Overal: 14-47, .298
With the bases empty: 5-28, .179 BA
    RISP: 8-11, .727 BA
Bases Loaded: 1-1, 1.000 BA (yeah, yeah, sample size of 1 and all that)
    0 outs: 1-16, .063 BA
    1 out: 4-10, .400 BA
    2 outs: 9-21, .429 BA

Sure, its all a small sample size. But I'd still call that being clutch :p

So much for scoring at all today :p

Halladay is one heck of a pitcher, that's for sure.

we should do better against the mets. trouble is I have francouer on my fantasy team...so if he does get a hit or something, it counts against my atlanta pitching, but at least I gets points either way.

No chance we beat out the Phillies, we have to be focused on the wildcard but that will be tough as well.

I think we can. We just have to work on our pitching a bit more...

And when we got the bases full we have to score too, we use to kill last year doign that, but we've struggled with it this year. The only person who has even remotely helped in that is Heyward.

The Braves had (IIRC) a ton of 2-out RBIs last year as well... would be nice not to have to do everything with 2 outs this year.

Can we please score some runs and not leave everybody on base? [face_worried]

I saw most of the first inning of today's game at a restaurant. It was certainly raining then.

    Yep, rain delay time.

And guess what? The Braves still haven't scored through 5 innings to back Hanson. Hanson's given up only 1 run, and that was unearned. This would be a seriously tough luck loss if the Braves can't come back.

Well, if the rain gets too bad, the game'll be called. That would be worse if there IS no chance to even attempt to rally back.
