    I THREW MY BOOKS OUT!
he gets a bit cliche here from time to time.

I mean, seriously, you would think that with a divergence point in 1862, you would not have those people born after the POD who became President of the US as presidents. they are practically carbon copies of OTL.

It's the joy of act of plot. They always seem to be lucky, even with GIANT ASTEROIDS.

    I got bored of them.

and they were in the way....believe it or not, of my now STAR WARS BOOKS.

and my game of thrones, and my LOTR, and my Wheel of Time, and my Bolo, and also my Harry Turtledove books.....

I just didn't want them anymore. They were in the way of what i consider REAL fantasy and REAL epic stuff that i like.

I hope you meant you donated them to a library or school or opshop.....throwing a book in the bin should be a crime!

or selling them is okay as well. But throwing them away. Someone elses junk is someone elses treasure

    bah!

not reading is a crime as far as i am concerned.

I have my own library here, about 600 history books. Damn well not going to throw them out under any circumstances, even if books sometime become obselete.

Throwing books away is bad. That bonfire scene in Last Crusdade makes me cringe when i see all the books burning.

sorry if i gave you that impression. but i just started disliking Harry Potter a couple of years ago.

I still like it. Or, I like the official stuff. The fanfic community makes me simultaneously cringe/bang my head into the wall :p

On a completely unrelated note, my RP is doing well. Already have at least three or four people joining :D

    EDIT: Hey JM.

I hated the scene in Footloose for the same reason, offensive and made my skin crawl.

tis okay, just as long as you didn't toss them because maybe sometime in the future someone may come along wanting to read them

So what made you dislike Harry Potter?

One one end - probably a mixture of the overhype/overratedness and maybe the fanfiction.

one the other end - it wasn't the fantasy i was interested in reading anymore. I need epic stuff, and LOTR/Silmarillion, and even ASOIAF, Wheel of Time and the Star Wars books provide that.

I read the Silmarillion at least every couple of months, because it is, in my mind, the most singular, beautiful piece of literary mythology ever!

It also has some painfully boring parts, and this is coming from a Tolkien fanboy :p

And I can't blame you if it was the HP fanfics...*shudders*

(back to looking over the RP character sheets I have)

    HELLO THERE!
the only boring part i find, really, is Turin's story. MY GOD!

I also bought the History of Middle Earth collection as well. Hardcover, three volumes. Sweet. You see the unedited versions of the chapters.

If I remember correctly Turin also goes into 'Luke and Leia' territory with his sister...except worse... [face_sick]

(granted he didn't recognize her, and said sister didn't have her memories, but still...)
