Thanks! I can't recall the character name or movie title, but he was described as this very hard-working, very well-meaning guy who just keeps running into constant bad luck, and has a Scottish accent. Does it sound similar to one of his characters?

Well, I've seen Trainspotting, Brassed Off, and Moulin Rouge, so it isn't from any of those movies where he plays a guy down on his luck and with an accent that sounds peculiarly like his own.

The bad luck with a Scottish accent character is Robert from "A life less ordinary". Funny movie by Danny Boyle, with Ewan, Cameron Diaz and Ian Holm. Not a masterpiece, but fun.

 

the onyl two ewan macgregor movies i've seen are, well, im sure you can guess just by looking at what boards we're signing (hint: it isn't the "moulon rouge forums")

First thing I saw him in was "Lipstick on my Collar" when it ran on the CBC several years ago.

He was singing in that one as well.

Rani, I agree, it's Robert from "A Life Less Ordinary." I've actually never seen Lipstick, a lot of his stuff besides Star Wars, MR, and Trainspotting are so hard to find here, especially when you want to by them. And the Amazon prices are nuts!

 

I got Christian from Moulin Rouge. (I love that movie!)

Just as well, since it's his only non-SW movie I've ever seen.
