The Galactic Senate RPG

Welcome to The Galactic Senate RPG. It is both my and MasterPrenn's hope that this game will capture the thrill, mystery, and fun that is the Galactic Senate; and that those attributes will be translated smoothly over to you the player, providing you with a truly unique gaming experience. This is a political game unlike any other, taking the best parts of preexisting Senate games and fusing them into one cohesive whole.

How it works:

You will be playing a newly elected senator, cast into office after the historic governmental shake-up from the recent midterm elections. You will be representing a planet of your choosing (first come, first serve). When the game starts, the GM will PM each senator a list of objectives; upon which this game is built. The list of objectives will be what the people of your planet (who?ve elected you) want and need. The more you accomplish for them, the more power you will gain. Another advantage you gain by accomplishing your objectives is that of future ease. The happier your people are, the less demands they will place on you. Happy people translate into easier jobs for their leaders. Work hard enough and your planet might become a safe district, where re-election is almost guaranteed. The game takes right before the NJO. This time is chosen primarily because it was a time of prosperity for the New Republic, with no major wars and general peace in the galaxy. SW Canon will not be playing a major role in this game.

The Parties

At the start of the game, there will be 2 major parties (liberal/left-of-center and conservative/right-of-center). Other parties can be formed as the players see fit. Each of the two major parties will be controlled by a GM. MASTERPRENN will be heading the liberal-leaning party, and Imperial_Hammer will be leading the conservative-leaning party.

The role of parties in the galactic political arena is an important one. Your party funded your campaign and do not forget this. Be very wary of the consequences of alienating your party, because without them, money and support will become very difficult to come by. There might be certain aspects, bonuses, or trends that are party specific that will be available only to the party-faithful.

At the beginning of the game, you and the rest of your party will need to set down two things?

1.) A party name? and
2.) A ?whip? (the person that tries to make sure that party loyalties are upheld. If no one wants this role, the party leaders will serve as impromptu whips until someone wants to take the role)

*If your party so wishes, you can also vote for party logos, slogans, officials and things like that. This effort will be coordinated by the party leaders.

The majority party will be the party with the most players, and the minority party will be that with the least players.

As stated earlier, players can break off and create their own parties. There are consequences (good and bad) to this, so make sure you think hard about it. A party can be established when it has a membership of at least three active players.

Gameplay

Gameplay in this game will be split into two categories:

In session
During this period (1 month real-time per period), players will be at the capital: passing bills, making votes, and pushing their party and personal agendas. Because this is a concentrated time period, voting times will be short and things will be concentrated.

Out of session
During this period (1 month at a time), players will be fully immersed in their personal lives. They will be visiting home, as well as attending important business meetings with allies, enemies, constituents, and the media. Before ever

Bio:

Little is know of Bryce's childhood, except that he was born and raised somewhere in the Coruscant Underworld, around The Works and The Uscuru Entertainment District, based on references made in speeches and his accent. He worked as a Bartender during the wanning days of the Empire, and somehow managed to afford entrance into the Coruscant College of Law, the Galaxies most prestiges Law School, while still continuing his Bar Tending nightly. He became a Rebel Informant, and after the fall of the Empire worked briefly in the Alliance Intelligence Agency as a Coruscanti Operative. He soon became involved in Coruscanti Politics, working as a Legal adviser and Senatorial Aide for a few years. After the formation of the New Republic, Bryce was elected Coruscanti Senator, and granted the immense privilege of representing the richest, most populous planet in the Galaxy.

Bryce boasts membership in the GBA (Galactic Blaster Association) and is an avid hunter. He has been voted Coruscant's most Eligible Bachelor three years running by The Coruscanti, a monthly pop-culture periodical, and has an estimated net worth of over 25 Million Credits. Despite his popularity, many Coruscanti's question his personal history, more importantly how he was able to attend Law School on a Bar Tender's Salary, and have taken issue with his Moderate-Conservative political stance on a mainly Liberal planet.

Bio: Born on a backwater world in the Outer Rim, Rade Kell certainly didn't start off on life's easy path. At a young age he took up the profession of a mercenary, fighting for crime lords, planetary governments, and even the Empire. Eventually he rose to the top of his unit, leading it through battles across dozens of worlds. While doing this, he came up with a plan to increase his own power and wealth greatly. Instead of continuously having to buy new weapons and ammunition for his unit, he would go straight to the source. Plan in mind, he made his entry into the world of business by purchasing a small weapons manufacturer on the planet of Druckenwell with a stash of credits he had slowly been building up with pay from his missions. From this position, he would supply both his own unit and conflicting governments with arms, essentially creating conflicts which he and his unit would then be paid to fight in.

He spent several years doing this, leading his unit and expanding his business, and eventually he came to control over 25% of the arms manufacturers on the planet. This continued to be quite profitable for him, until the Pellaeon-Gavrisom treaty was signed. With this, conflict in the galaxy began to die down, as they could no longer go unnoticed as they could when the two biggest powers in the galaxy had been fighting. His main source of income gone, Rade made the full switch to business, converting his mercenary unit into his own private military force and supplying arms to the major powers instead of the planetary governments. Druckenwell being a planet that prizes financial success above all else, it was inevitable that he would rise even higher in the power hierarchy. Soon he was elected as the planet's representative in the New Republic Senate....

Personality: Laid back unless something upsets her. Been known to throw things if something upsets her.
Schooling: Leadership School on Andara
Bio: Lived before the Empire was born, Territha has lost much in her life. She was taken into slavery as a young Wookiee, just after she passed her passage into young adulthood was completed and ended up as a Senator?s ?pet?. In this she lucked out, as her life wasn?t one of hard labor, but servitude. She learned much during this time, about life and politics.

When it was declared that slaves were no longer allowed by the Senate, she was able to leave and return to her homeworld. Much was changed and she didn?t fit in. Inspired by her experience on Coruscant in the company of a Senator, Territha convinced the leaders on Kashyyyk to send her to Leadership School on Andara. After the fall of the Empire the Wookiee council assigned her to serve as Senator of Kashyyyk in the New Republuc.

She still misses swinging from the trees on Kashyyyk and hates the confines of the city, choosing to return home as much as possible. Her interpreter droid, C8-P0, is know as Cate and accompanies the Senator everywhere when she?s not on Kashyyyk.

Recently elected Chancellor of the New Republic, Territha is honored by the faith shown in her from her peers in the Senate. She is eagerly awaiting the start of the new term and has been preparing for her new duties during the off time.

Bio: Born and raised on Thyferra, he is the first Human Senator for Thyferra since the days of the Empire.

At the age of eighteen Vena signed up for a tour of duty in the Rebel Alliance, seeing action at the Battle of Endor, and continuing to serve in the New Republic Defense Force, where he saw action against the Imperial Warlords as a Starfighter pilot. It was during his second tour he lost his right eye, and despite living on, and representing, the planet that produces bacta, Vena refuses treatment, for reasons he will not state.

After he had completed his second tour, he became interested in politics, especially restrictions on gun crime, after his son was killed in a school shooting, and the expansion and upkeep of the New Republic Defense Force - whilst this is a view shared by few of his other Liberals, he knows a strong military is needed to support the NR. Vena was elected to the position of Senator of Thyferra two years ago, and has served this position faithfully since.

Appearance: Reldem Fald is an elderly man often times needing the aid of a cane to walk around. His bright green eyes seem to shine out of his withered wrinkled face as he walks around and speaks, he was formerly tall but now has shrunken down gnarled wrinkled hands always gripping the cane that keeps him steady.
Personality: Reldem Fald is wise and knowledgeable, having played the political and economic game for many years. However one driving force forces his hand in any issue, the drive for profit.
Schooling: Eriadu school of commerce,
Bio:
Born into a powerful business family Reldem Fald was groomed to be in the finest society in the planet. He was sent to the best prep schools in addition to the finest tutors. He was raised as a brat, lots of money, fast speeders and total disrespect for authority.

This childhood went by quickly and with various accidents and problems, however Reldem always maintained good grades and powerful connections as he went to work for his uncle in one of the families many companies on Eriadu.

Four years of hard work and good success later Reldem entered the highly praised Eriadu school of commerce, with a mix of glowing recommendations, good grades and the offer to buy the school a new building upon graduation. Reldem entered the school a bratty talented individual who cared not for anything.

When he entered the school began its rigorous training on him and his class, no time for socializing was allowed in the four years of school With a 90% drop out rate the few that came out were literally business machines. For four years they had been forced to think about only money, when they worked out, when they showered, when they slept they only thought about credits and how to earn them. And as every class before that, when they graduated they were unable to stop, it continued into their lives, making them incredible businessman but partially insane in a way.

Reldem formed a corporation with some money from his father as a graduation gift and Galactica Corporation flourished under his guiding hand. Soon one of the richest men in Eriadu by his own right, Reldem turned his eyes to politics running for senator, as his business was now in the capable hands of his children he felt the need to aid them slightly through these means.

He was elected in a close vote at the age of 53 and has served with distinction since then.

Appearance: He is taller than average and noticeably thin, his head his shaved bald. He carries himself with a regal flair even though he has no royal background. His eyes are a light green and his clothes are usually expensively tailored Fondorion formal wear.
Personality: Arrogant, greedy, and self-serving. However, the presence of his wife has a calming effect on him, as his personality becomes far less abrasive and sometimes even kind.
Schooling: Fondor Academy of Engineering and Design, Chandrilan Academy of Sciences, Mrlsst Academy School of Law
Bio: Born to a wealthy Imperial captain and an equally wealthy Fondorian scientist, Uudnil was raised as a true member of Imperial elite. He was given the best education money can buy and his mother instilled in him the ideals and eccentricities of Fondorian culture while his father was helping the Empire. He was fourteen when the battle of Yavin occured, and his father was killed in a battle not long after. For the longest time he hated the Rebel Alliance and instead turned his anger towards his studies. Being Half-Fondorian, he was always extremely bright and this only helped him in his school work. He graduated from his private academy well before any other students. This time did, however, provide him with a love for politics. Knowing full well that no Fondorian could last in politics without knowing the intricacies of the Fondorian Shipyards, Scientists, and of Fondorian Law, he set out to provide himself with the necessary education. Being wealthy, it was not difficult for him to amass the credits needed to visit such presitigious academies as he did, gaining five degrees in just 15 years; one in Engineering, one in Space Sciences, and a Doctorate in Law.

It was during his years at the Mrlsst Academy of Law that he met and fell in love with a young Lethan Twi'lek scientist named Caal'zula. She had escaped enslavement from Imperial sympathizers when she was ten years old. The love that she returned to Uudnil changed him as being with this 'alien' was the closest he'd been to happiness in years. His ideals began to shift away from wanting to bring back the Empire to trying to find a balance between Imperial law and New Republic law. As such, he became increasingly adamant in ambassadorial missions to the Imperial Remnant. He began to gain a vission of the galaxy uniting in the happiness he had found.

Returning to his homeworld with a bride in tow, he spent several years in local politics, gaining popularity for his ability to deal with the public as well as his commitment to the shipyards. He has recently been elected to become Fondor's representative in the Galactic Senate. His wife is expecting their first child.

Many find his arrogance intimidating, however many cite that arrogance as the reason he does so well with the public. And while love changed his want to bring back the Empire, it has not quelled his desire for more wealth.

Personality: Charismatic and charming, yet stern and unbending when needed.
Schooling: Anaxes School of Law(scholarship)

Bio: Azervado never knew his parents as they had been killed when an airspeeder flown by a drunk slammed into the ground killing his mother instantly and his father died due to his injuries. The then infant Azervado however survived through some fortunate turn of events, the speeder had just missed his hoverstroller when it happened. After being checked out he was given over to the nearest orphanage. His years there passed without to much event and he worked hard on his education and when he was eighteen and had to leave he got a job at a resterant waiting tables while he applied for various schools, although he knew he couldn't pay for most of them.

He was very glad when he recieved a letter from the prestigeous Anaxes School of Law accepting him with a full scholarship do to his excellent grades. Unfortunately during his years there he was often mocked and teased by the wealthier students about his inability to pay and that he was here on scholarship. Not all were like this though but it still made life pretty unbearable. After graduating Azervado got a job as a lawyer and saved some money up over a few years. It was when he saw in the news the notice of the mid term elections that he made a risky desicion, he risked his entire savings and entered the campaign for the senatorial seat. In the end it came down to a close endgame between him and Kira Sarken. She had actually been one of his few friends from the law school and they still were even during the election although they pulled no punches so to speak.

In the end Azervado won by a hair, with 52 percent opposed to Kira's 48 percent. After the results were announced Azervado and Kira shook hands before the many and various speeches. And so Azervado departed his homeworld for Coruscant.

Appearance: Tall at 6 ft Dacen Mano can appear intimidating. He is a bit heavy at about 200lbs but he has defined arms legs and chest while not being super buff. He keeps his brown hair short and a few flecks of gray have begun to creep in. He possess soft hazel eyes and a sharp face with hard features.
Personality: He is very Charismatic in his talk but is soft spoken in a way. He is affirmative in his beliefs and believes others with contrary beliefs are wrong. At times he can be xenophobic.
Schooling: Academy of Carida, and Imperial Navy Command Officer's School
Bio: Born to wealthy Coruscant merchants Dacen enjoyed an easy life. He wasn't pampered but enjoyed many of life's luxuries. He was expected to perform well in school and his parents sent him to the Academy of Carida expecting him to join the Navy as an adult. Then for his secondary schooling he was sent to the Imperial Navy Command Officers School. When he graduated he served as a CO on a Star Destroyer.

After the Empire was defeated Dacen defected to the New Republic and began a career in politics. With his brilliant military mind, and occasional anti-alien stance he has won the support of many hardcore humans.

Bio: Born on Belnar to a lower-middle class family, Xenil was quick to buy into the Khil cultural drive that called for hard work and excellence in every field. Feeling the pressure of raising his family out of obscurity, Xenil was filled with a ambitious and motivated drive for excellence, and was quick to advance through local schooling. Taking notice of his studious and dedicated nature, the Shey Tapani University approached the young intellect with the hopes of recruiting. After initially denying the University with the hopes of better offers, Xenil was met with a cold shoulder from many other prestigious universities, leading him to turn back to his original offer.

Attending Shey Tapani, Xenil earned a degree in Republic Law, and soon opened doors into other opportunities. Working as a young lawyer Xenil found himself defending the economic practices of the Seinar Fleet Systems Corporation on Corulag. His tenacity in research and quick understanding of economics earned him recognition from a professor at the Corulag University of Economics, who pushed for his recruitment. Xenil, seeing a chance for further progression, left his employer and attended the school, swiftly earning a Doctorate in Economics midway through the Clone Wars. Seeing a possible career as an officer leading to futher possibilities in progress, Xenil applied to the Corulag Military Academy, and upon acceptance began studies in Military Tactics and Appropriations. Before completing his studies the Clone Wars ended, and the Empire formed. Finally, Xenil attended the Imperial Academy on Carida, achieving an advanced degree in Engineering.

Considering his multitude of degrees and level of education, Xenil was confident of his position within the New Order. His confidence was met with the most disappointing of circumstances, as the Empire grew in it's anti-alien approach to rule. Xenil soon found himself as an officer and overseer in Military Appropriations and Supplies, and was never to see the front lines or any expansive command during his time with the Empire. His disappointment with the lack of progress and equality quickly turned into hatred and anger after the destruction of Alderaan, and the Rebel victory at Yavin. Silently and subtly, Xenil assembled a unit of rebels within his own command, and within the year defected to the Rebel Alliance, bringing with him myriads of Imperial weapons and funds in the process.

Xenil continued his work with the Rebel Alliance, participating at the battles of Hoth and Endor, and later against the forces of Thrawn and the clone Emperor, finally retiring from his position as an Army General and returning to his home of Belnar to help establish a local university. Convinced through a strong push from his local populace, Xenil ran for his senate seat looking not only to better the lives of his own people, but of "Every galactic citizen, no matter what species, class, or creed. No matter what planet, movement or government."

Appearance: Tarim is about 5? 11?, thinly built though clearly muscular. He has black hair cut short and a thin goatee. He dresses in nice, formal robes when in session and will generally were clothes more suited to his station in life when out of session.
Personality: Bright and friendly, but in the senate cool, calculating, and quick to tear people up. When he sets his mind on something, he pursues it relentlessly.
Schooling: He went to school all of his young years and went to several different colleges. He majored in law at University of Onderon.
Bio: Tarim was born and raised on Onderon, the son of a noble. His early years were rather uneventful, though he was an extremely persuasive youth. As he grew older, Tarim decided politics was his calling. Tarim was always an extremely intelligent child. He graduated from schooling very early, and had a degree in law by the time he was eighteen. He then went into local leadership positions. He was so well received, that he soon became voted into office high up in the planet-wide government. When election time for senators came about, his name was one of the first nominated and won by a landslide.

Tarim enjoys reading and gathering knowledge, and if he is not at the senate building, he is most likely found in his study. His vast store of knowledge aids him in his political campaign greatly, and he will research anything if it will give him an edge. To Tarim, this is all just a game that he is going to win, no matter what.

Appearance: Brad is approximately 1.8(5'11") meters tall with light brown hair that is semi-short. He usually wears elegant clothing to fit his elegant lifestyle, but often times he is seen wearing casual clothes, thinking it as a sign to show his constituents that he is of normal stature, just like them.
Personality: Will is often quiet, but is very opinionated. He is willing to do whatever is necessary to win, and gain favor by his constituents. And by "whatever is necessary", he is literally willing to do whatever. He is an expert in telling lies, and an expert in covering his tracks.
Schooling: Chandrila school of Law.
Bio: Will Pitt was born on Chandrila into a poor family. He was raised on the belief that he needed to do whatever was necessary to get what they needed, since that was what they had to do to survive.

Luckily for Will, he was blessed with great intelligence. Throughout his school career, he was able to obtain excellent grades and reached the seemingly unlikely rank of number one in his class and received a scholarship to any school of his choosing. He chose the school closest to his home, Emita University. Through all of his success in school, Will still had no idea of what he wanted to do in life. As a result, he signed up for many different classes all of which were in different areas of study. This was possibly the smartest thing he had ever done, as he finally found what he wanted to do with life when he finished a political science class.

Will decided he would obtain a degree in that field, and, after four years of study, he decided to go to law school. After emerging four years later, Will received a degree of law, finishing, once again, at the top of his class.

Now, at the age of 27, Will decided to put his law degree to good use, and began a career in law. He started as a lawyer, and did this for over 10 years. He decided that he had had enough of the judicial system, and decided to pursue a career as a politician. Having already established himself as a dominant lawyer, his entrance into the legislative system was fairly simple. However, being elected senator would be no easy task.

Will knew that, in order to be elected he would have to put on a veil, a veil that would cover his true qualities of lies and deceit, and would have to keep that veil on over the span of his term. And, he knew, he had major shoes to fill. There were many great politicians that were from Chandrila, especially Mon Mothma. If he were to be senator, he would no doubt be compared to the likes of them.

Will entered the race, and used the platform of tax cuts, military buildup, less strict gun control laws, and a better health care system on Chandirla. With these views, he was easily elected, and is now serving in his first term as Senator of Chandrila.

Bio: Born into a lower-class rural family on Garos, Adrian was conscripted into the Imperial Army. He fought in a handful of battles, culminating in his eventual capture in the First Battle of Coruscant. Following his capture, Adrian joined the Rebellion. He served in the Rebel army for several years, eventually losing his right arm in the war. Following his injury, Adrian got a cybernetic replacement arm and left the Rebel army to study at the Coruscant College of Law. After graduating, Adrian returned to Garos IV where he steadily developed a highly successful law firm. After a few high-profile cases made him the most notable lawyer on Garos IV, Adrian decided to run for office.

Personal Platform: Adrian is a moderate on many issues. On economics, he doesn't lean particularly conservative or liberal, but prefers a balanced approach: moderate taxes and moderate spending, just as long as the budget stays balanced. Adrian prefers to avoid war, although he acknowledges that in some cases, war is necessary - that's why he joined the Rebellion in the first place. He doesn't really care much for the Imperial Remnant, but he doesn't mind their presence in the galaxy. On social policy, Adrian is fairly liberal, but he doesn't care much for most social issues and would rather compromise on them than on other, more important problems.

Appearance: Tall, Lean build, but dominantly human in regards to porpotions, and features. Has a short clean cut hairstyle with a thin lined goatee. His skin is a little on the pale side, but his eyes are a deep emerald shade with pink colored thin lips. Is considered aristocratically handsome holds himself with natural elegance, and cleanilness is examplified in his hygiene.

Personality: Cold, and shrewd in mentality. Regarded as somewhat of a pompous character in regards of what he thinks of others, but it's a result of his upbringing culture. Li is loyal to the financial status of his homeword, and is tenacious in dealing with situations that threaten Muunilinst in any way. Never acts without thought, and displays a uncanny ability to calculate his peer's and oppositions in regards to their actions.

Clothes: An elegant midnight blue colored cloak with a black pair of slacks, and a matching elegant styled vest.

Schooling: Harnaidan High Point Institution

Bio: Li was born to a Muun father, and human mother during the last years of the clone wars. Though seen as a weakling in regards to parentage Li was at an advantage being that his father came from a dominant family in the upper casts of Muun society opening a world that many were not priviledged to on Muunilisnst.

The rigorous competition in the Muun society erased all forms of weakness from Li's character. By the age of nineteen Li would help manuveur his father's family into a permanent position of power not only in their high cast system, but also in regards to financial gain. The Muun were known for their high IQ's in regards to financial situations, and famous for their lack of respect to the thinking abilities of all others. Li's father captalized on the fact that his son was not only shrewd in regards to finances, but also to playing to the whims of their society and that he was very subtle in his intentions pushing Li into a career as a politican.

Out of school Li would find himself a top aide to the chairman of the Banking Clan's board of director's which enabled him to create a network of the wealthy to back him. At the age of twenty eight Li was elected as Harnaidan's mayor which he held for eight years. Being the head of Muunilinst's captial did nothing, but build Li's reputation beyond possible success and earned him the nomination as Munnilinst's representitive in the New Republic's senate.

Li is a product of what the finest things in life could supply one. He is accustomed to mixing with the higher ups of society, and his taste for clothes and extravagant living is evident in his waking steps. His schooling resulted in his ability to comphrehend the big picture aspect of life, yet his time as mayor did afford him a glimpse into the bleaker side of things which he never experienced himself but dealt with it day to day as issues of society's need were where he succeeded the most in office.

His reputation in politics is one of a shrewd mind with a heart to match result largely to the nature of the Muun culture. Yet like his fellow senators Li is about as transparent as the midnight blue colored cloak he wears, and is not afraid to pursue an issue he finds required for the betterment of his stance politically.

Bio:
Denningas Blackstone was of a strong intellect at school, but his interests originally lay in botany -- the science of growing things.

Like so many lawyers, he was encouraged into the legal stream later on in his schooling and (grudgingly) entered that area. The study of law itself was a dreary time for Blackstone, albeit that he had an excellent memory and passed his exams without doing the work required to achieve "Alpha" grades.

That all changed the day the Death Star came calling in the Alderaan system. Blackstone, off-planet on a mid-year break, heard the news hours later that all he had loved or known was gone. From that day forward, Blackstone clung to the law as greatest bulwark of freedom across the galaxy, and found a new commitment to his work. Over the years and decades that followed he progressed further up the tree of authority until finally he stood at one of the most important offices in the Republic - the head of the judicial branch itself.

Bio:Nava is clearly over her head, and is learning as she is going along. She had won the second Race of Champions, when Terrorist had struck, injuring many, and killing a few others, including one podracer she had grown to like, Dai Konuma. The GPRL had gone into turmoil, and her sponsor, Salliche Ag, had threated many lawsuits. Her long sought victory had been tainted.

With so much going on, it looked as if the Pod Races were going to be suspending for some time. Nava fumed. Then, others came up to her, and suggested that she become a senator. She told them she had no experience, but they said it didnt matter. She knew how to handle a crowd. She had POWER. She had a reputation..and she was ridding on a WAVE of popularity. She could bring her tiny world into the limelight.

They were also quick to point out, that their had already been ONE assassination attempt on her family. If there were still any others out there, being a senator would guarantee her family security. And perhaps with her sponsors Salliche Ag backing, she could keep her favorite pod, and put in a few good words for them as well. As much as Nava respected Salliche, she knew it was going to be difficult. She didnt take too much of their money, not wanting to become THEIR spokesman. She truly did want to help out her tiny planet. None ran opposed her, and after some major quick studying, so now she finds herself in unfamiliarly territory.

Appearance: Tall (6'), broad-shouldered and well-built, with close-cropped dark hair and have gold and green striped eyes due to his Noori heritage. On average, looks like your generic Security Person.
Personality: Quiet, smart and observant. Can take orders - when they make sense. He has a problem with irrational orders, which was what led to his discharge from the New Republic commandos. Shawn does know how (and when) to be discreet in dealing with threats, but considers that secondary to the safety of his employer.

Schooling: None notable other than military training. Is very good at handling a variety of small arms (blaster pistols, rifles) as well as close-combat weapons, and is surprisingly fast for his size. Was a demolitions specialist in the commandos, so he can also identify, set or disarm a variety of explosives.

Bio: Shawn Ventar was born on Noori, but as his parents worked as mining prospectors, spent most of his life knocking around the galaxy in some mining colony or another. By the time he was eighteen, he'd had enough - seeing the military as a way out of that life, he enlisted in the New Republic armed forces and never looked back.

Shawn's childhood did leave him with a wide knowledge of the inner workings of explosives - mining, after all, did involve blowing things up - and he soon distinguished himself as a demolitions expert in the commandos. Unfortunately, his unwillingness to obey clearly irrational orders (or at least, orders he believed were irrational) led to his discharge by the time he was twenty-five. He has been knocking around the galaxy ever since, working in a variety of security or bodyguard positions.
