I was watching "Young Sherlock Homes" yesterday, and noticed some very interesting parallels between that and Harry Potter. Switch the physical characteristics of Holmes and Watson, you have Potter and Weasley. I recommend renting it and judging for yourself.

yeah, they are tests similar to Muggle SATs

O.W.L.s are exams students of the Hogworts Academy of Witchcraft and Wizardry have to take in their fifth year. It stands for Ordinary Wizarding Levels.


N.E.W.T.s stands for Nearly Exhausting Wizarding Test. These are given at the end of the seventh year and qualify you for a job in the wizarding world.

If a wizard can't get a job, can he collect unemployment? And if so, could he collect it in the muggle world also? Does Gringots exchange muggle money for wizard gold?

I don't know about the unemployment, but yes, Gringotts does exchange Muggle money...

 

Are there any american wizards in the friggin books? Although I can't complain too much, there is a black Mace Windu-ish wizard.

 

yeah there are a group of American witches in book for, at the Quidditch World Cup...(now that will be a sight to see in the next movie )

 

so, what do you guys think is going to happen in episode 3? oh, what? we're not talking about star wars? weird.....

 

Harry Potter is similar enough to Star Wars.

I'm like halfway through this book.
How much more can possibly happen to this kid? I can believe in wizards and goblins and giants, but to believe any one kids life is this bad? C'mon? His parents got smoked, he's got that scar for life, snape hates him, this toad chick hates him, the man woking at the ministry is trying to keep the brotha down, now he can't play quidditch? What next? is there a fly by at hogwarts and his best friend gets capped? He gonna get jacked for his broom?

Good lawd! now Umbridge is the head of Hogwarts? I'm trowing this book away before anything else bad happens. Real life is depressing enough.
