The prospects of this film winning any of its three Oscars this Sunday looks fairly slim thanks to Life of Pi which I still need to see.

 

i actually think les mis will take the oscars for production design and makeup and hairstyling. i think the hobbit has a chance at the visual effects one though.

 

I can see that happening. Still haven't seen Les Mis or Life of Pi.

 

I almost missed that Hobbit hit $300 million at the U.S. box office, $960 million worldwide. And now on to video!

I'm sure no one is complaining, except me. A better movie would have rivaled Marvel's The Avengers for the biggest hit of the year.

 

How much money a movie makes and how many awards it wins is incredibly important.

Can't say I'm disappointed, even if it means I'll have to wait six more months. As wonderful as the LOTR and Hobbit trilogies are, I'd rather see them accompanied by the magical atmosphere of the winter holidays.

Actually, with the film opening now in China, it's set to hit the $1 billion mark. But yeah, total failure, right?

 

18 days!

 

I'm delighted that TABA has been moved to the winter. It just seemed odd to release it in the summer. Tradition rocks, and any film made by PJ and set in Middle-earth should be seen in the build-up to Christmas. That's the tradition.

 

Watched that movie not pretty long time ago. I just loved it! Can't wait for the last two to come.

 

We Tolkien fans are an odd bunch, you know. Any other fandom would be screaming mad that they'd have to wait another half-year to see their movie.... But us? It's as though we were saying, what's a mere few months compared to the combined length of all the Ages of Middle-Earth?

Within reason... within reason... I want the knowledge that I have more of Jackson's Middle-earth to see to last as long as possible. I'm impatient for each film, of course... sometimes cursing how long it will be until I can next see something new... but equally I'm grateful and glad to still have more to look forward to.

 

When does the DVD come out? Sometime this month, right?

And does anyone know yet what will be in the EE and when that will come out?

 

the ee will feature radagast's magical mushroom journey and an additional 35 minutes of dwarves being chased by goblins.

 

And maybe some dancing goblins in tights.

 

Maybe the EE will also include a 53-Minute-Long Scene Of Bilbo Baggins Trying To Figure Out What To Pack, since that ended up not being in the theatrical release.

 

I'm not displeased by the late release. Traditon and all.

 

Just because...


I'm waiting for the version with our thirteen merry Dwarves and one jolly Hobbit.

The zoom in to the Necromancer standing in the doorway will repeat on a loop for forty-five minutes.

 

And 15 minutes of Smaug opening and closing his eye at the end of the movie.
