I was just about to post that I'd seen in the latest issue of Star Wars Insider that Dathomir would be one of the settings for the novel. That piques my interest, certainly, because I am so in love with the concept of the Witches. My biggest question upon reading the bit in Insider was whether "Dathomir" would be the awful TCW version or a continuation of the EU version. Looks like, based on that information, that it will be the latter, thankfully.

Insider said the cover of the book is depicting something that will happen on Dathomir, which lead me to believe, based almost solely on the coloring, that'd Dathomir would be portrayed as the crappy TCW version...

As much as I love the authors.... Did they HAVE TO make the
Dathomiri witch from the SINGING MOUNTAIN CLAN in the Dramatis Personae into a Zabrak-Human? so far we contained the problem to just nightsisters of one clan.. now singing mountain got crossbreds too? Next they retcon Tenel Ka
or what? NEVER!!! lets make this an exception, not the rule.

No wonder Jacen got so grumpy...

He clearly had to shave off Allana's horn when she was born.

Going from what I could find by browsing the Amazon preview, while they do mention the
    Nightbrothers and have Zabrak-Human hybrids
those are the only aspects of TCW Dathomir used.

    It also looks like the
Kwa Infinity Gate from the Republic comic storyline
will be the big focus on the Dathomir sections. Also
Allya is mentioned and Augwynne Djo appearss.

not possible, it was destroyed in these comics when the destructive wave was turned back on it! well the station the wormhole inside dathomirs startemple lead to was. not the temple itself. or what do you mean?

From the choppy segments I'm able to see, it seems like
Jax is somehow being influenced by Darth Ramage's holocron, and is being drawn toward the remnants of the Infinity Gate due to some dark side residual energy. Or something like that. But it does acknowledge that the Gate itself was destroyed.

If it makes you feel better, at least Allana is more like Garnet than Eiko and probably doesn't even realise she ever once had a horn. :p

Already saw it when it was first posted, and yes I don't like it. Lovely, they are acting like Spar never happened...

All in all, Mand'alor or not, Spar and the 212 were just a small, if extremely effective, commando unit. It wouldn't make much sense mentioning them while commenting on Mandalore's current political situation, right?

Well, considering Spar and Fenn Shysa were the political situation during the Clone Wars, until they came up with all of this nonsense that is of no interest to me. I don't understand why Spar isn't mentioned, since it appears that Spar happens after this mess. Its like nothing but TCW happens, and its really confusing and infuriating me.

In all fairness, there were some horned Nightsisters before TCW.

Well, don't stop there, let's be fully originalist. For 20+ years Spar (or more accurately, Fett as originally intended by the Marvel issue) was definitely not the government of Mandalore, since it's specifically stated the Mandalorian Protectors were commissioned by the already-existing Mandalorian government during the war. So clearly all this stuff from 2005 that changed that is a bunch of nonsense that shouldn't interest you either.

They were rather small compared to the Death Watch and the like. I also assumed they weren't on planet anyways

I think it likely that Almec commissions the Protectors after Death Watch wipes itself out in this civil war, and turns to the CIS to avoid persecution by the Republic for his involvement with Maul

Well let's try and remember that Fenn Shysa wasn't "part of the political situation of the Clone Wars" until a certain novel decided he was. Korkie Shysa should be off being a policeman until the Empire enslaves Mandalore.

the only positive thing I can see in this, my friend, is it explains why Tenel Ka was so horny (pun intended!) all the time :p

I didn't even see that part. I just was happy to see "Singing Mountain Clan" and interpret it as the EU version of Dathomir...

Speaking of which... can we get some OTHER clans some good face-time?
