Taking the bus sucks tho... for me anyway. I much prefer taking the train to work every day.

There's a stop down the street from my house, so it's easy to get downtown and to school.

Sure I have that too, but the bus is much wilder and bumpier than the train, there are less seats and more crazies. I prefer the train.

I would love to take a train to work. I used to take a boat every morning and afternoon on my commute. I miss the relaxation time of that 20 minute boat ride.

I would take a bus, but the nearest bus stop to my house is right across the street from my job. ;) So I just walk past all the crazies to get to work.

Train, best way to go. Boat, never attempted. Bus,...well lets just say the transit system around here is pathetic. I hate taking it

Actually, there aren't that many crazy people on the bus system. That's more of a myth than fact, unless you ride at 9:30 P.M. or later. Usually, it's the high schoolers who are the most annoying.

It's not here either. I see more weird crazy people riding the buses even during commute hours than I ever did on the Max. I have like... 15 years experience commuting in Portland. :p

You don't know what you are missing. I lived on Peaks Island, ME (google map it, folks) for 5 years and took the boat every day. It was awesome!! I miss it now. At the end of a long day, I would have to sit and relax for 20 minutes. I spent time interacting with and getting to know my neighbors since they had the same boat ride every day.

In the summer, when it was hot and humid (yes, Maine does get hot and humid), you could feel the temp drop as you walked along the boat ramp and got over the water.

    *sigh* [face_coffee]

Vancouver has a boat as part of its transit system. It was awesome.

Phoenix has a nice new train that goes through the city and surrounding suburbs.

I think that Phoenix is a very appropriately named city. It's so freaking hot there!! [face_hypnotized] Although you could have just as easily called it Salamander or Hell. Phoenix also implies rebirth.

You are kidding. A friend posted on Facebook that he saw the little snowflake on his dash display of his VW, which means it was like... 38 degrees or so. He was like "ohhhhhhhh neeeeeeiiiiinnn!!!"

There's a chill tonight again. It's about 64º F in my house right now. I could build a small fire to take the chill out. However, I noticed that a rather large moth has flown into my fireplace (presumably through the now-open flue damper), and I'd rather not a. let him into my house or b. roast him in the fire. Just in case Gandalf gets in a predicament again.

I miss having a woodstove. We always had one while I was growing up, but I have not had one in any of the apartments that I have lived in. Eventually, we will have a woodstove when we buy/build a house. I love the ambiance of a fire! I also love the lower heating costs!

Now if I could just get my hands on a couple hundred thousand dollars...

I'm willing to take donations! [face_money_eyes] I can guarantee that they won't be tax deductible. That's an offer you can't refuse, right?

Do I at least get a T-shirt or some sort of certificate in exchange for my pledge to the Woodstove fund? :p

Yeah, I can see that going far. I'd find it in my closet 15 years from now, and start wondering "I wonder what this archaic text means". :p
