    Welcome to the Offical Fan Art Challenge! Each month, a single subject or category from the Star Wars universe will be chosen for artists of all skill levels to interpret. A wide range of media will be accepted including, but not limited to, graphite/ink drawings, paintings, photo-manips, digitial paintings/drawings, collages and posters. It's really whatever you're inspired to do. Be creative! If the subject is a TIE Fighter, don't just draw a TIE Fighter, try to incorporate it into a scene that's interesting. Or perhaps you would rather take the Alliance's view on the TIE. The possibilities are endless!

    *NEW* - 2/6/09
    As an extra twist, the Challenge will now be considered as a contest or a game. At the end of each quarter(Fall;September-November, Winter;December-February, Spring;March-May, Summer;June-August), all pieces of artwork submitted during that particular time period will be up for nomination for the "Art Challenge Fan Favorite Award." If your artwork makes it through the nomination process and wins the final vote, you will be awarded colors of your choosing and a title for a week to sport around the entire JC. But wait! There's more! As an added bonus, the winning piece of artwork will also be created into an icon and uploaded onto the JC forums for all to see and use at their choosing. Good luck to all participants!

    Past Winners:

    1. Fall 2006 - academygrad88; Boba Fett and Family
    2. Winter 2007 - DarthMikus; Quinlan Vos
    3. Spring 2007 - BIEREN; Darth Vader
    4. Summer 2007 - Basement24; Humiliation of Defeat

    This is a pretty old one, but it fits the Jedi category rather nicely.

    Hi everyone. Haven't posted in here for a while (again), but I've been lurking and am amazed by the art produced and displayed by you all!

    The Challenge this month caught my eye (I love all things Jedi!) and so I'd like to submit one of my drawings.

    This is my idea of Jacen Solo as he may have looked in the book Betrayal, just before his spiral to the dark side. It was drawn first in graphite, then scanned and "painted" in Paint Shop Pro:
    [image=http://brettanilsson.com/art/jacensolo_betrayal.jpg]

    I also wanted to show (though not enter) some of my older work that I've re-touched... because I'm anal about getting things the way I want them! lol These are some of my favorite generic fan Jedi I've done, and redone.

    [image=http://brettanilsson.com/art/betrayed.jpg] An idea of a student's betrayal during the Jedi Civil War (the prelude to the game Knights of the Old Republic).

    [image=http://brettanilsson.com/art/kaatje.jpg] A Jedi I named Kaatje Tolwyn, who I envision lived around 400 BBY.

    [image=http://brettanilsson.com/art/jediVsith01.jpg] This was a painting I did from a screenshot I captured playing Jedi Academy.

    [image=http://brettanilsson.com/art/maandahChehn.jpg] I named this Jedi Ma'andah Chen, but I can't remember why.

    [image=http://brettanilsson.com/art/devery.jpg] This guy was my first Jedi drawing. He was my "Cheveyo" persona before I renamed him Devery Kumaro for playing the RPG game. He was one of a handful that were drawn and colored in Prismacolor oil pencils, and he (or rather his lightsaber) was the reason I began looking into digital art. He has gone through quite a few revisions (highlights, reshadowing, blending, and finally repaints/blends), but I think he's finally finished (or as finished as I'm going to get).

    [image=http://brettanilsson.com/art/tinrael.jpg] And lastly, my favorite alien Jedi, Tin Rael, the Ithorian. I drew him in graphite like the others above (except Devery), and then painted him in Paint Shop Pro.

    Thank you, Kiyuuchan! I used to, but it was last updated in 2007, so it's locked and buried... which is probably a good thing, because most of the links are broken since I keep changing and renaming the art.

    I wonder if I should make a new thread, but it would be all mostly old stuff (accept Jacen, above). It's all on my art website, too. I'll check with HanSolo29 and see what she thinks about me doing a new thread of my archived art.

    EDIT: the link above actually goes to my second thread, which was started because the original was locked and archived for no activity for too long! lol

    I hope U get time to do more new stuff ! [:D]

    OMG!! Cheveyo's back--and he's brought EU ART!!! **faints from delight**

    I'm sitting here stuttering aloud, I can't think straight--how wonderful to see some new (and beloved older) work from you--it's been WAY too long! I'm still swooning over your "Betrayal" Jacen Solo...just a great big WOW on that one...he really reminds me of his grandfather here (and I have a feeling that was part of the intent...?). Stunning interpretation--I love it, and everything else you've shared here (your Ithorian Jedi is still one of my all-time favorites of yours...jaw-dropping work there!). Gads, what a wonderful treat, to see some new work from you, one of my heroes from here in Fan Art! Thanks for sharing, and welcome back!! **Wookiee-hugs**

    I'm loving ALL the submissions here for March--man, we really have some terrific pieces up this month--Azure, that painting of Ani and Padme playing around is so lovely! [face_love] And earlybird, those oils are achingly beautiful (the one of Obi and ghost Qui-Gon is particularly moving)! Ranil--the Council Chambers piece is really impressive: how did you get so much detail and such great likenesses...? **stares** Gorgeous... And Kiyuuchan, your early Jacen pieces have me all misty now, remembering him as the bright-eyed, tender-hearted youth he once was...just lovely!

    Gorgeous work, one and all! I'm definitely going to have dreadful time voting in the next go around for this competition...AAACK!!

    Again--Welcome back, Cheveyo!

    [face_laugh] Well, dear iandseniff, if you come up with a robot/ jedi, a robot or a jedi piece of fanart for this month, then there might be a chance of winning. ;)

    The three pieces you posted are great. Why not opening your own fanart thread? [face_whistling]
