    Alec Vandel
    Sairdona Prime, Ancient Haven

“Everyone who is injured will be going back to the temple with me. Those who are able are to continue with the mission at hand.”

Alec nodded his head at that, understanding and agreeing completely about this set of orders. Dovey needed to head back to the Temple, possibly Michael and Gaan as well. Even if the latter two did not suffer anything as severe as Dovey's blindness, it wasn't just physical ailments that could hinder an individual's performance. Michael was distressed and while his family being involved may give him a right to take part in the mission, it could also put him and perhaps others in jeopardy. And Gaan's memory loss could put her off balance, decreasing her effectiveness now that she was surrounded by strangers and having no idea what was going on.

Course, the surrounded by strangers bit could apply to Alec as well but he brushed it off. He knew how to work with others.

Hochner chimed in about being ready to continue and Alec had no misgivings about the Kubaz; the two of them had been the least effected by the Force event and, thus, they were the most fit of the original group to resume the mission. And Alec was most definitely going to continue with it.

With a nod of his head, he finally spoke, "I don't suffer from any ailments. Once Dovey and the others are on their way back to the Temple, I'll come along to the ruins as well."

And it was only then, just when Alec had been about to do yet another check on his equipment, that he noticed it. He was still holding onto the kasha crystal in his left hand; having apparently held onto it even after the arrival of Master Decinchi and the others. How he had not noticed it until now he had no idea but, taking it in stride, he just carefully placed the crystal in a pocket of his robes. He hadn't thought to add a compartment to the second half of his double-blade in case he ran into such a situation where he would lose the other half but salvage the crystal so he had nowhere better to put it. He'll just have to wait until he had a chance to modify his lightsaber so that he could install the kasha into it.

"I'll keep watch outside." Bowing his head to the group and reaching out briefly to Dovey and Michael with the Force to give them a sense of comfort, Alec turned back and once again found himself marching down the ramp to reenter Saridona Prime's winter.

After taking a look around and finding nothing, Alec expanded his senses. There. Off to the side, two presences were together; Gaan and Decinchi no doubt. He didn't think to go to them, especially as what they had to discuss did not involve him in any way. So at peace with the simple, frozen presence of the world, Alec waited for the group to prepare so that they could continue on.

Gaan looked at the Grand Master steadily after they had seated themselves. She noticed his breathing, almost as though he was calming himself, and wondered if she was this much trouble for him all the time. She knew she could very well be. After a moment, he began the conversation. “Gaan, what was the last conversation that we had that you can remember?”

Gaan's forehead furrowed as she tried to recall what he asked. After a moment, she answered, "I believe you were welcoming me to Saridona Prime." She knew that probably wasn't what he wanted to hear, but at least she remembered that they had had that conversation. "I believe I was also less than pleasant... Polite, I think, but not pleasant."

Hanger Bay, Temple of Light, Saridona Prime

Taab stood by quietly as as his suggestion was altered and Patches, Cyar'ika started off with Frosty down to the sickbay as Curves lead the way. Bucko had earned Taab's trust on Concordia, and he clearly had something else in mind for Pig-Pen. Taab was willing to see what it was. Though he did raise an eyebrow behind his T-Visor at the sudden introduction of standard ranks for Bucko's people. Up until now they had seemed to follow a hybrid Jedi/Mandalorian rank structure. Something was afoot here.

Before he could give it any more thought another woman entered the hanger bay. “Hey! Are you from that Gladiator up in orbit? I’m your welcoming party.” No introduction really, no way for Taab to tell if she was telling the truth or not. He began to raise his carbine towards the woman, ready to fire if she became hostile. However before he could challenge her the hanger rats approached her. They kept mostly to themselves, if they had accepted her than she was probably ok. Taab lowered his carbine.

While Taab had been busy doing that he over heard Bucko's admonishment of Pig-Pen and the orders for kyramud to check out her vessel. So that's what he had in mind there. Not bad. The pair left taab and Bucko alone as they strode up the gangway to her ship. Bucko turned to Taab. “Well, Sergeant, I hope you are not partial to your current position. According to our mutual friend, Grand Master Decinchi, the Journeymen Knights are now being re-tasked as the new Temple Security Force, with me at the helm. I know that this has been your gig and I respect that. So in that light, I am promoting you to the rank of Major and placing under your command the interior security of the Temple along with making you the Armorer. What do you say, Major Taab?”

Taab shifted his carbine a little at that. So that was the reason for the sudden transition to military ranks. Taab couldn't deny that the Temple needed a good security force, and the Journeyman were the best such force anyone could ever hope for. Still it irked him that he had been left out of the loop. It seemed Spoonbender still didn't trust him fully. Well the feeling was mutual there. He looked back over his shoulder towards where the Marauder and Unnecessary Force had landed. There were still crates of weapons aboard that needed to be unloaded.

He considered Bucko's proposal. An alor? Not only that but an akaat'alor? shab. Taab had never aspired to a commission. He was more than happy to remain as a senior NCO. However, there were alot more people running around here now then when he had first arrived. Taking the promotion would make his job of protecting the jettise in the Temple that much easier, and get him that much closer to earning his bonus from The Money. When the job was finished he could resign his commission and be on his way, just as before.

He turned back to Bucko and through his own T-Visor looked him in the eye. He reached out and grabbed Bucko's forearm, shaking hands in the traditional Mandalorian fashion. Going by the ranks already handed out he then made a quick assumption. "All right Colonel. We have an accord." Releasing the man's arm, Taab knew there was alot of work to get done, regardless of rank and title. Weapons to unload, a perimeter to secure, and alot of catching up with what had gone on here since he had left. He hadn't been a part of a military unit since he had quit the Mandalorian Protectors after Botajef. And even though he wouldn't admit it, even to himself, it felt good to ask his next question. "Orders sir?"

Kasha gave a short nod as she watched Alec leave the ship. She knew she was going to be asked to stay and help Josch. She stood up and walked out of the ship to come stand beside Alec. “Thought you could use some company,” she said in a gentle voice. “What were you investigating before everything happened? Or was it just the ruins?”

Mekaila walked up to him with a pained expression on her young face resting a hand against the side of her. Anakin bent down to her height with a concerned expression. “What is it, baby?”

“My head hurts,” Mekaila answered with quiver of her lower lip. “It’s been hurting all afternoon.”

Anakin gently placed a hand along her head where she was injured six months ago. “On a scale from one to ten, how bad is the headache this time?”

“Six,” Mekaila answered with a frown. “And don’t feel good.”

“I know,” Anakin gently ran his hand along her head as he reached into his pocket and pulled out a bottle. He took out the recommended dose for her age and handed it to her. “Did you want to lie down?”

Mekaila nodded as Anakin led her to the bedroom they were assigned. She climbed on the bed as he pulled the covers over her. Brice was having his afternoon nap in the next room and he knew he should check on him.

“Try and get some rest, okay?” Anakin said as Mekaila nodded and closed her eyes. He gently kissed her on the forehead. He walked to the door and closed it behind him.

Six months ago, Mekaila’s friend was being beaten on. Mekaila got between her friend and the bullies taking an instant blow to her head. The skull was fractured and there was swelling. The headaches continued since then but were slowly disappearing. The medic reassured them the effects were not permanent and the headaches should stop in another six months. It wasn’t soon enough for him or Kasha. He wished the headaches would stop for good.

Anakin opened the door to Brice’s room and noted his son was still soundly sleeping. He closed the door. He sat down in a chair in the living area and laid his head back.

Khalifa did a little gesture pointing at herself and mouther, "Me?" "You talking to me sister? About time someone came here to take me somewhere else. I'm getting tired of this here hangar. I'm here on this planet so might as well get my training started."

Khalifa was getting a little cabin fever. She had been on this planet for almost an hour and hadn't left the hangar bay. "Hey Taab been nice talking to you, but I gotta split."

Allynic began to stir. He was slowly regaining consciousness as the world rushed back to him in a blur of sounds and sights. He vaguely comprehended what Khalifa was saying. He slowly stood up, calling on the Force to clear his mind and ease the fatigue in his limbs and muscles.

Allynic turned to Khalifa and spoke. "Sorry about that," he said with a crooked grin. "Guess the Hibernation Sickness hasn't quite worn off yet. Good thing you didn't let me help pilot the ship. That could have ended badly..."

He was inturpeted by the arrival of another person. Voj snapped around and put his hand up in front of Khalifa. “Freeze. You are not going anywhere young lady.” He then turned his attention to Jaxon. “Now, Captain Renn, if you would be so kind as to escort Miss Sunrider back on to her ship and conduct a thorough inspection. Ensure that there is nothing on board that might bring harm to the Temple or any of its inhabitants.” He looked back to Khalifa, “Think of it as if it as a customs inspection.”

Allynic turned to Voj. "Where would you like me to go, sir? If possible, I should probably check in with a medical station." He then silently awaited further instructions.

“Thought you could use some company.”

Alec had taken note of the woman's approach but had remained silent until she had stopped at his side and spoke. Turning his head ever so slightly so that he could catch her face in his view, he gave her a small shrug of his shoulders before replying, "I won't object to it."

He hadn't recognized her when she had first disembarked with Master Decinchi and he didn't recognize her now. Blond curly hair, definitely older then he was. Alec assumed she was a Guardian but, considering the previous affiliations of most of the Guardians, she could possibly just be another lost member of the Jedi that had stumbled upon this faction. Either way, he didn't recognize her and just assumed she was part of the Guardians.

Though he didn't object to her presence, he had been willing to let silence settle between them until the others were ready to head out back to the ruins. However, it was the ruins and their mission that she now asked him about. Wondering if Decinchi had kept the other Guardians out of the loop about the expedition to the ruins, Alec informed her, "It was just the ruins. Master Lahana had been found in stasis within the ruins so a team had been assembled to investigate them in case there were any other strange activities going on."

Turning to face the woman fully, it was Alec's turn to ask with, "And you are? I do not believe I have formally met you yet."

Kasha smiled politely as she watched him. She had a feeling she’ll be asked this question a couple of times since she arrived here. She didn't recognize him or anyone. So much had changed since they left. “I’m Kasha Sherland. My husband and I survived Oasis. We married shortly after I was knighted, disappeared for six years because I was pregnant. The Force called me back into action. The calling was too strong to ignore. And you are?”

Kasha, huh, Alec thought to himself with a sense of amusement. The woman had the same name of the crystal that was currently within a pocket his robes.

But that amusement died pretty quickly with the rest of the woman's tale. Specifically the parts about having a family.

Here, Alec couldn't help it. His feet shifted uncomfortably in the snow and he suddenly felt a need to pull his hood back up to hide his face. Instead, deciding on a not-too-obvious gesture, he turned his head away from Kasha, as if keeping an eye out for something in the distance.

There was hardly anything that made him uneasy. When your apprenticeship was mostly spent hiding from the multiple dangers of a galaxy temporarily ruled by the Sith, there was very little that could really affect you. Alec knew how to keep calm, to keep his emotions under control, and to look at everything with not only with the Force but with a logical mind. But Jedi having families...that hit him somewhere though he wasn't sure why. Jedi falling in love and having families was something that was not only embraced by the Jedi Order but was practically built up from due to the Skywalker lineage. Any banning or argument over it has not been instituted since the Old Republic and yet Alec found himself against it.

His logical mind had figured out why he felt uneasy about it long ago. It was the simple fact that he couldn't understand how Jedi - devoted to the Force, guardians of the light, defenders of the galaxy - could allow themselves to be distracted by such a...well...normal thing like raising a family. His upbringing was a partial cause to it; every bit of his apprenticeship was about studying and training to one day resume the duties of an endangered Order that had to topple the Sith from their throne and work to restore balance to the galaxy and the Force. Doing anything else, especially indulging in something like love, when upholding the responsibilities of a Jedi was not only unnecessary but distracting to him.

Of course, understanding the problem was a long way from actually accepting it. To him, a wife and kids was just something that he couldn't see and, when he tried to, he just made himself feel uneasy about it. So he just ignored it and accepted that that kind of thing was not for him. Thus, he is consistently puzzled as to why other Jedi would indulge in it.

Trying to look past his own troubled thoughts, Alec finally introduced himself with, "Alec Vandel. Of the Jedi Order."

He had been ready to leave it off at that but he continued to be bugged by the fact that the Force-user next to him was married and, from the sounds of it, had children. More importantly, he was bugged by what do Jedi actually do when they have a family to look after? Did she just leave them and came to Saridona Prime by herself or....?

"And your family is....here?" Alec dared to question while his gaze continued to be pointed in an entirely different direction from Kasha.

"And your family is....here?" Alec dared to question while his gaze continued to be pointed in an entirely different direction from Kasha.

Kasha studied Alec and could sense how uncomfortable he was since she said she was married. She knew some Jedi were against having families. She hoped that wasn’t the case with him but her instincts were telling her it was true. Certain individuals were just not cut for the married life. She shook her head wondering why the Force brought her back now when her children were still fairly young instead of being older. She focused back on Alec and nodded. “They are back at the Temple of Light with Anakin. I just wish the Force waited to call me back when they are older. If we feel it’s not safe enough, Anakin did say he would take them back to our home. They are both Force sensitive, and when they are old enough to understand they will both be given the option if they want to train or not.”

Kasha fell silent as she sensed something from him but couldn’t quite place it. She looked out over the white frozen land. It was quiet here. “I can sense you’re uncomfortable when I mentioned I was married. I know some take on a strict sense of either completely serving the Jedi or doing both. When I met Anakin a strong bond formed between us instantly. Sometimes it’s hard for others to understand that it’s the will of the Force that brought both of us together. It becomes difficult to ignore your feelings for someone. No matter how hard you try to hide it, the simple truth is, you can't.”

"My great great Grandmother was brought into the Jedi temple six years before the Clone Wars started. She fell in love with someone and chose to leave the Jedi path behind her. She had other strengths that allowed her to fight in the war. She led a squadron of Clone pilots and even trained them in simulators. Her boyfriend was under her command. She was placed in charge of the fleet. Dooku set a trap for her and she fell into it. He cornered her and her boyfriend, and he tried to get her to call off the attack by threatening Darren's life. Darren refused to allow her to give into Dooku's demands. Fress refused knowing Darren was about to die in front of her. She miscarried two weeks later not knowing she was pregnant. I can't imagine ever being in a situation like that. I don't know where she found the strength but somehow she found the will to live on after that. She was an Alderaan survivor. She was a very strong individual."

“I can sense you’re uncomfortable when I mentioned I was married. I know some take on a strict sense of either completely serving the Jedi or doing both."
"Just my opinion," Alec interjected. "Think nothing of it."

Whether he agreed with love or not, that was all it was and Alec recognized it as such: an opinion. As much as he disagreed with it, there have been quite a number of events that occurred due to the efforts of Jedi children. Luke Skywalker, a product of Darth Vader, had gone on to recreate the Jedi Order while his sister had led the New Republic and gone on to give birth to children that had key players in the following wars like the one with the Yuuzhan Vong. For more recent times, the latest member of the Skywalkers - Cade - had gone on to slay Darth Krayt.

But while there were the greatest of accomplishments, there were the worst of tragedies such as Vader himself and Darth Caedus.

Listening to the story of Fress, it was the perfect example of Alec's uneasy feelings. There, at least, was a Jedi that had been able to overcome that obstacle but there were others who haven't. And when they didn't, terrible things happened. That was the main danger of love; when someone found another, they tend to hold that person above the lives of the many. And when a situation comes about where they are forced to pick the one or the many...they choose the one.

And what of Kasha? Her children were here, at the Temple; a frightening closeness to her duty and the dangers that were involved with it. Even though the Temple of Light was the stronghold of the Guardians, it may become under siege or infiltrated as Alec was well-experienced with when it came to Ossus. When danger found them, would Kasha choose her family over her duty? In a situation that would demand her to choose, would she forsake the Guardians for the sake of her family? It was a terrible situation indeed and one that Alec would like to avoid. It helped that he had no interest in love and, throughout his life, he had held no affections for anyone. He was just not interested.

That, and he knew that he would choose the many over the one. After all, he had already made a similar choice before.

He chose not to pursue this topic any further. Instead, once Kasha was finished, he looked to her and said, "I was born on New Alderaan. It is a nice world but I have seen the holos of Alderaan. A shame I will not be able to experience it."

It would be nice to visit my heritage, but I know that will never happen,” she paused for a second wondering if it came down to it. Would she posses the same strength Fress had shown all those years ago. No matter how hard it was, it was a scary thought to lose her family. She promised Anakin she would never allow the Dark side to claim her no matter what happened. Even to the extent of losing her family. If her ascendant can do it, so can she. “Anakin and I plan to retire on New Alderaan. That’s if we survive this war long enough to do so.”

It pained Josch to hear that his friend had lost her connection to the past year of her memories. For a moment he racked his mind trying to think of a way that he might be able to ‘give’ the memories that he had to her, but kept coming up empty. He knew that there were ways through the dark side of the Force of ripping a person’s memories from their mind, but he was not sure if she truly had lost these memories. Josch, like Alec had shared, was fairly certain that this was an after effect of the Force Event they all experienced. So for now they would have to wait it out a bit.

“Gaan, I’m not sure if you realize this or not, but I consider you one of my close friends. You have acted as my War Councilor since finding your way to the Temple of Light. We will find a way for you to reconnect with these memories, I promise you. Do you feel well enough to join me on the mission to uncover the mystery surrounding these nearby Ruins?”

As they sat there he could feel the presence of both Jedi Vandel and Jedi Sherland standing out in the cold not far from either vessel. He was not sure why, but he felt a kind of connection with the young mother who had recently found her way to the Guardians. It was probably because of how close he had been with her ancestor, but it felt different. He decided to let them know that it was alright for them to come in from the cold. He reached out through the Force and sent a subtle message to Kasha. It’s ok to enter.

Gaan studied him, attempting to determine the truth behind his words. Finally, accepting that there was no reason for him to lie, and his treatment of her so far confirmed what he said, she nodded slowly. "Yes, Master. I would be happy to accompany you." For some reason, she couldn't quite shake her uncharacteristic stiffness when she spoke. Perhaps it was not only her memories but also the flow of her thoughts that was affected? Or perhaps one caused the other somehow? Gaan shook her head, trying to clear it, then noticed that Master Decinchi was contacting someone telepathically, and cocked her head, looking toward the entryway.

    Saridona Prime, Outside Ancient Haven

“Anakin and I plan to retire on New Alderaan. That’s if we survive this war long enough to do so.”

Alec just chose to say nothing after that. He just got a blank as to whatever he could say or do to contribute to the conversation - specifically how to drift further away from the talk of family - and, thus, decided to say nothing and let the silence descend between them. He fought a sudden urge to turn and see what was taking the others so long on the Ancient Haven, instead exhaling out a deep breath so the the air fogged in front of his mouth while he reminded himself of patience. It would be unwise to rush into the investigation anyway; if they were going to investigate the ruins, it was to be when everyone was ready and prepared no matter how much time that may take.

Struck by a sudden thought, Alec couldn't help but wonder why he was putting so much focus into this. He was not a member of the Guardians but of the Jedi Order; what business and issues the former had should not really concern him despite whatever history had linked the two groups. In fact, it was that history and the time that passed that should make Alec wary of the Guardians. Granted, the members that he had spoken with so far - Hochner, Kasha, Gaan, and Dovey - all seemed decent people but he couldn't forget that one thing that made all of them similar: they had all been absent from the Guardians and only recently rejoined. None of them had any real sway in the order of things. Meanwhile, Alec's meetings with Grandmasters Decinchi and Lahana had been brief. And one of them was currently related to one of the Mandalorians that had been walking around the Temple and apparently beating the younger Guardians.

I guess one of the other Masters would say that this may just be the work of the Force, Alec thought with a slight note of exasperation. Despite being a Jedi that had such a sensitivity to the Force, ironically Alec was not one for its mysteries. If the Force was going to send him crash landing on a planet with a rogue group of Force-users, he'd like to know why. Fortunately, his Jedi training and natural patience was pretty good at keeping these issues from distracting him. And when the Force wold give him something questionable, it was his Jedi training and his own moral judgements that he would follow to see him to the end.

And right now there isn't really much I should question. There are some mysterious ruins that need investigating. Even if it is or isn't Force-related, there may be people that are trapped inside for whatever reason and rescuing them is not a matter of question. Whatever happens with my developing relationship with the Guardians...will happen. For better or worse.

Still, the next time he got the chance, he may request access to a hyperwave transmitter in order to send a message back to the Order. Not only should they be aware of what was currently going on out here, but Alec would also like some information about what was going on back in Federation space. Last he saw of it, the One Sith were initiating a surprise attack at multiple Federation outposts.

“Did you want to go in or stay out here?”

"Hm?" Tilting his head in question, he looked at Kasha to see her motioning back in the direction of the other ship that Decinchi and their reinforcements arrived in. Had she gotten a message from the Grandmaster? Hoping that it meant that the investigation of the ruins was ready to be renewed, Alec nodded before saying, "I'll go."

Kasha gently smiled and nodded as she pointed towards the Spirit. “Master Decinchi just gave us permission to enter the one freighter,” she started walking towards the one freighter wondering when they would resume the investigation. It would be nice to warm up before heading into the ruins. “First time I saw a storm, I never saw so much water at once before. I was raised on Tattooine and you don’t see that much water at once. Storms are fascinating.”

    “Orders sir?”

“First things first, don’t call me sir. We might be officers, Taab, but we still work for a living.” He said with a slight grin and a wink. “Of course, when we are in the presence of the troops we can address each other by rank, but otherwise, just call me Voj. For crying out loud we took on a Sith-wanna-be together and lived.”

He placed his hand on Taab’s shoulder, “Now, what we need to do next is contact the Defender so that they can send down the remaining troops in our Gamma-class Light Personnel Carriers. Once they have made planet fall we can coordinate with Pythos in dividing them up. But for now I think we should head to TacCom to find out what is going on.”

The duo started to walk out of the hanger when Voj realized that Jaxon was still inside of the other freighter that they escorted in. He looked over at the small clutch of the Hangerboys and Leana and got an idea, “Hey, Sweetheart, since you seem to know your way around here, can you make sure the two other youngins make their way up to the TCC once their done with the inspection. Thanks.”

He didn’t wait for her to respond before both of the Mandalorian officers walked out to head up to the TCC. Voj looked over at Taab as they walked through the vacant corridors, “Think I should walk in there with my buy’ce on?”, he said with a devious smile, “What do you think little Ian would do seeing both of us in full beskar’gam?” Voj didn’t care what anyone thought, he had a mean streak and he was not afraid to show it.

The young Mandalorian followed the young lady up the entrance ramp and would have enjoyed the view better if Khalifa’s pants had not of been so dirty. Once they reached the top of the ramp he waited for her to show him around the ancient freighter. He knew that, if it was like most stock Dynamics, to their left would be the starboard dormitory, directly ahead of them would be the maintenance ‘garage’, and to the right would be the Main hold.

Since he didn’t want to overstep his bounds he allowed her to take the lead, plus it would allow him to maintain a defensive position in case she decided to turn on him. The tension between the two of them was almost palpable, so he decided to try and break the ice. “So, do you know how to use that thing or do you just carry it around for decoration?”, he asked pointing to the lightsaber hanging from her belt. Instinctually his hand moved to his own newly acquired saber, in case she took his attempt at small talk the wrong way.

Majors Pythos and Shysa laid the sick Caamasi down in the last remaining bed in the same row. “Here take this, I’ve marked out a path up to the TCC. I am sure our friends will go there first.” she offered a data pad to the Majors and Leianna accepted it. “I’ll stay here and look after Allynic.”

The two others left and made their way up to TCC. Once they were alone a Med-Droid ventured over, “State the nature of your medical emergancy?”

    “He’s suffering from hibernation sickness.”

“Ah, yes. All he can do is rest and allow the symptoms to wear off.” The droid wandered away from the two of them.

Allynic slowly came out of his stupor and realized, with great relief, that he was in a MedBay of some sort. His mood began to lift, but fell again when he the last MedBay he had been in. The one in which Palpatine had tortured his body and mind....He shook the memory from his head. There was no point in dwelling on the past. He saw a droid standing over him.

“Ah, yes. All he can do is rest and allow the symptoms to wear off.” The droid wandered away from the two of them.
Seanna Vel turned to Allynic and said, “So how did you end up in a block of carbonite?”

Allynic considered for a moment, wondering how much he should divulge to this stranger. He wasn't in a rush to share his past, but if it would expidite his recovery then he might have to give up a little.

"It's a long story Cpt. The short version is that I was a Jedi during the Clone Wars. I left the Order when I felt the Jedi were too involved and were on a violent path. After the war, and the revelation of the the Sith, I was soon captured by Emperor Palpatine. I was never more than an average Jedi and was no match for one as skilled as him. Since I posed no threat to him, the Emperor chose to keep me alive to perform....experiments on. Finally I attempted an escape and as punishment was locked in carbonite. Next thing I know, I'm thawed out and 150 years have gone by. I am still trying to adjust to all the changes....I think the hardest thing to swallow was learning of the destruction of Caamas. I'm sorry I am not going into too much detail. I just don't know you that well."

Gaan,” he looked her in the eyes, “do you trust me? Because if you don’t trust me, this mission is going to be difficult, and someone might get hurt.” Before she could answer Josch felt the presences of Alec, Kesha, Hochner, Daniel, and Adalia coming up the ramp of the freighter. By the expression on Gaan’s face, he knew that she felt them too. “They are to be trusted as well,” Alec was the first to walk in, Josch leaned in closer and whispered in Gaan’s ear, “Maybe not that one.” When he backed away he gave Gaan a slight wink.

The entire crew gathered into the Living Suite and took up seats, while Josch stood before them. “Before we head out to the Ruins, I think we need to get to know each other a little better. I know, pretty much, everyone here, since I have trained or fought alongside of each other. It is going to be a vital importance that we all trust each other. So why don’t we start with you, Knight Vandel.”

“Master Decinchi just gave us permission to enter the one freighter.”

Alec nodded in silent confirmation, having assumed - and it now being confirmed - that Kasha had received some kind of communique from the Grand Master that allowed their entrance as the young Jedi didn't think that she would want to walk in on the Master Decinchi when it had been clear to all that he had been in a discussion with Gaan. Despite the woman's attempts at some more light-hearted conversation, Alec continued to remain silent. This was not because he was with an unfamiliar Force-user who had chosen a life that made him uneasy mind you; he tended to get increasingly focused when a mission was at hand...even if it wasn't exactly his mission.

He took note that it wasn't just him and Kasha either. As they were approaching the other vessel, Alec turned his head just enough to look over his shoulder and back towards the direction of the Ancient Haven. There were others coming. Some but not all; he assumed the ones who remained behind were Master Lahana, Dovey, and whoever else who had been selected to head back to the Temple of Light. Alec took this as a sign that the investigation of the ruins was to continue shortly. Walking up the boarding ramp, Alec was just in time to see Decinchi and Gaan separate but, despite Alec's expectations, Gaan remained and continued to do so while the rest of their party met up with them. Alec didn't let anything show at that.

He took a brief count. Him, Master Decinchi, Gaan, Kasha, Hochner, and the man and woman who he still didn't know the names of. Seven in total if Gaan was really accompanying them and it was becoming increasingly apparent that it was. Though Alec didn't know the full capabilities of everyone in their party, if they were trained Force-users - whether Jedi or Guardian -, then it was a formidable group...especially with the Grand Master involved. And it was the Grand Master that confirmed that he had either trained or fought alongside with everyone here.

"So why don’t we start with you, Knight Vandel.”

Alec didn't let anything show when he turned to look at Master Decinchi, then everyone else that was assembled, and then back to Master Decinchi before slowly bowing his head. While his green eyes were briefly hidden, they flicked left and right as the young Jedi pondered what he should say. Fortunately, when he raised his head back up, he knew exactly what to say. Really, he had already planned on what to say in case anyone had directed more personal questions towards him.

"My name is Alec Vandel of the Jedi Order," he introduced, his voice completely neutral and business-like, his gaze meeting those of the others while he spoke. "I was born on New Alderaan, taken in by the Jedi Order when my sensitivity was discovered, trained at the Academy on Ossus before the massacre, and was forced into hiding with my Master at the time. We hid, trained, and rejoined the Order in time to join the Federation's counterattack against the One Sith and overthrowing them. After the war, I was assigned to an outpost and was involved in a skirmish with remnant forces of the Once Sith that forced me to take a blind jump that inadvertently led me to crash landing here."

It was brief and should satisfy everyone that was involved. If anyone was looking for a lie or any bit of untruth in his words, they would find none because everything that Alec had said was the truth. More importantly, it was a story that no one would have any reason to doubt because every member of the Jedi Order had to face what Alec did at the end of the Sith-Imperial War. The Massacre at Ossus, exile, the resurgence and formation of the triumvirate created by the Jedi Coalition, Fel Empire, and Galactic Alliance Remnant, and current galactic affairs should at least be known even this far out from the Core. Hochner may know a bit more due to their meeting but it was very little.

And most importantly, it gave none of the Guardians any confidential information that they didn't need to have.

"Despite my short time here, I have at least made acquaintance with nearly everyone here, minus two," Alec finally ended, shifting the attention away from him and towards the others, specifically the man and woman who he did not know yet.

Adalia listened to Alec speak, then Kasha. She heard something in Kasha's voice that led her to believe she was unsure of Alec's story. But that wasn't for her to question as she shifted her weight from left to right. Daniel was her superior, in a round about way, but technically they were the same rank wise. The fact was he bought them here so it was up to him to speak first in her mind. So she waited.

Behind his T-Visor, Taab matched Voj's grin. The man was right, he had earned Taab's respect in the tunnels of Cabur base. It was not something Taab could say about many others, at least not recently. Figures though he thought to himself, Voj was a Mandalorian after all, well close enough anyway.

"...But for now I think we should head to TacCom to find out what is going on.”

It made good sense and he marched off through the hallways, following a step behind and to the right of Voj as the pair headed for the TCC. Those hallways seemed even more empty than normal. Where was everyone? The new ships in the hangerbay indicated that even more new members had arrived, yet they were no where to be seen. From the comms they had received, Twitchy had been left in charge of the command center. Spoonbender must have been desperate to leave that hut'uun in charge. Voj must have been thinking along the same lines.

“Think I should walk in there with my buy’ce on? What do you think little Ian would do seeing both of us in full beskar’gam?”

Taab chuckled at that. "Twitchy? The worthless di'kut? If he is any kind of competant, which I doubt, he would have seen the troop transports landing. We should tell him we are taking over Temple." Taab laughed to indicate he was joking. He knew such a statement could cost lives if Twitchy believed it and somehow managed to activate the Temple's defenses.

They neared the command center. "Yeah, buckets on." Voj put on his buy'ce with a nasty grin. It was a side of Voj that Taab hadn't seen before. He approved. "Should be SOP for all TSF on duty once everyone is deployed. That way we can all stay in constant contact should the need arise." He paused for a moment "Besides it scares the osik out of the chakaare."

As they entered the command center Taab could see it was indeed manned by only Twitchy and Spoonbender's green and white R2 unit. Gesturing to the droid he bellowed out. "Well Twitchy, at least Spoonbender didn't leave you here unsupervised." Now he purposely looked to the droid. "Ok beskar'ad, SITREP."

The Grand Master looked into Gaan’s eyes as he asked, Gaan, do you trust me? Because if you don’t trust me, this mission is going to be difficult, and someone might get hurt.”

Before Gaan could answer him, she sensed others moving toward them, then the Grand Master spoke to her again, “They are to be trusted as well.”

Gaan nodded slightly, recognizing the first Jedi to enter as Alec. Master Decinchi leaned close to her, and Gaan instinctively leaned toward him, as well. “Maybe not that one,” he whispered to her, winking as he drew back. Gaan attempted to keep her face straight, then gave up and smirked at him.

As everyone else seated themselves, the Grand Master rose. “Before we head out to the Ruins, I think we need to get to know each other a little better. I know, pretty much, everyone here, since I have trained or fought alongside of each other. It is going to be a vital importance that we all trust each other. So why don’t we start with you, Knight Vandel.”

The brief tension Gaan had felt when he began ebbed away as she realized she was not being put on the spot… at least not yet. She leaned back to listen as Alec spoke, wondering if his tale would give her any clues as to what had happened since she landed.

"My name is Alec Vandel of the Jedi Order. I was born on New Alderaan, taken in by the Jedi Order when my sensitivity was discovered, trained at the Academy on Ossus before the massacre, and was forced into hiding with my Master at the time. We hid, trained, and rejoined the Order in time to join the Federation's counterattack against the One Sith and overthrowing them. Despite my short time here, I have at least made acquaintance with nearly everyone here, minus two…" he turned to the two he was referring to.

What was he trying to hide? Gaan’s eyes lingered on him a second longer than they should have, then she turned her head to look at the others. She knew from personal experience that he didn’t want to talk about something. His story didn’t exactly inspire the trust in him that the Grand Master had clearly hoped.

A woman was next in line, and she started her story with a smile. “Some of you I've already met and some of you I haven't. My name is Kasha Sherland and I also trained at Ossus. I was born on Tattooine and came to the academy when I was fifteen. My husband worked with the younglings and I trained more extensively then Anakin had. Anakin and I married shortly after I was knighted, and we disappeared when I became pregnant with our daughter, then our son came along two years later. The Force called me back and guided my family and I here.”

Gaan nodded. Her story made sense, was honest, and clearly she wasn’t interested in trying to hide anything to placate anyone who disapproved of her choices in life. Gaan liked her already.

When no one else began after Kasha finished, Gaan looked around uneasily. She really wasn’t ready to introduce herself to the group until she’d listened to everyone else’s story, and knew, at least in some way, the people she was addressing. For a moment, she continued looking around, and then settled back again, determined to wait at least a little longer.
