They finally traded Kaberle...the Bruins are dumb. If they wanted a good draft choice, they should have left him where he is and looked for somebody else.

It is good to see them finally giving us something to cheer for.

Why are they so eager to fire Wilson?

I don't think Wilson is going anywhere. They should make changes to the staff though. Their PK and PP is brutal most nights. I think that comes down to coaching.

It might also be talent. The Canucks PP and PK used to suck, so they signed up specialist coaches for both, though.

I'd agree with you about talent on the PP. On the PK, that's mostly hard work, planning, exit strategies, and face off actions when won and lost.

I know it's a longshot to make the playoffs, but I still hope we crush the Sens tonight.

This is a good site for Leaf fans: pensionplanpuppets.com

Beating the Sens is just as important maybe more for me than beating Montreal. Hate Sens fans...

*Sigh* The Sens and the Canucks had the same problem about six years ago; a good team but no goaltending.

Reading Al Strachan's "Why the Leafs Suck and How to Fix It"

Incredibly depressing. I'm by no means a Leaf fan, but this is just ridiculous.

The most interesting part so far is a well-reasoned skewering of the 'blow-it-up-and-start-over' school. He points out that the team with the most recent first round draft choices has been Columbus.

I don't like Strachen. I already know why the Leafs have been really bad these past six years. GM's, drafting, player interest, and crappy hockey management, until they got Burke who at least has a pedigree, not like JFJ. Sound about right?

They were bad right back to 1968, according to this. But yeah, Strachan is pretty sour, and a Hab homer to boot. He's pretty funny on Harold Ballard, Steve Starvo and Kenny Dryden, though.

Again, he isn't the first nor will he be the last to bring up the obvious things.

A confession: I used to be Leaf fan (whisper it). So I knew some of this book.

Okay, the computer simulation says that the Leafs will make the playoffs, which is an improvement.

Phil Kessel is the best player in the NHL so far this season.

The Leafs are playing a bunch of crappy teams. Wait until they play Chicago, Detroit, San Jose, Washington & then celebrate.

I agree Nvermind. Even though they are not beating the elite teams, they are beating teams, which is nice to see. They are improved though and their depth will save them as long as secondary scoring keeps up and the goal tenders play well. I fear for Reimer though.

Oh, hell, I'm not saying they haven't improved. Obviously they have, which is frankly good for hockey and good for Toronto's insanely patient and deserving fans. But don't imagine it means that they will win the Cup. The (generally accurate) rule of thumb is that you have to be in the top seven to win (I think only NJ, which came tenth, didn't qualify in the last ten years), and though they will obviously make the playoffs and maybe go a round or two, don't imagine it will be more. This year anyway.

Granted, the East is a far easier place to win in. Maybe they will go farther because only Washington seems really good in the east, and from what I saw last night, not *that* good.

You know who's a barrel of fun to watch? The Oilers.
