Leto, Malmö Stadsbibliotek has several copies of The Kalevala. See for yourself here.

If memory serves me right so was Tuor and the story about him in Silmarillion based on the Kalevala.

Haven´t you heard the great Souther Swedish Daily Paper´s excellent Malmö slogan.

Haur du sitt Malmo haur du sitt vaerldein!!!

Should be shouted at the top of your lungs in the largest open space the city you live in has. Oh, and in the beautiful dialect of Scania.

Well, I will make amends in April. Then some of us here will go to the scifi convention on April 27th in Malmö.

You do realise that was 18 years ago?
I'll forgive you if you´ve seen the Öresundsbridge, in person. Or if you know its name.

    Yup.

No one uses it though, there was a competition in Sydsvenskan. A five or six year old kid won.

I've been to Malmö!!! Last year at the scifi convention. :)

Plus I was born in Lund and spent my first two years in Skåne. Just don't tell anyone. It wasn't my fault...

Joey, you seem to be only non-nordic person around here. So I got curious. What made you come to nordic forum? Or do you just check out every forum?

Acutally, I only check out this forum and Nonspoilers (after March 10th I will only be here). I come here to practice my awful Norwegian. I dig Norwegian culture and when I visited there 2 summers ago I had a great time. What really struck me was, how of the 100 or so people I spoke to, only 1, an immigrant from Turkey, did not speak English. This made me think most countries were similar.

Next summer, I visited France...let's just say of the 100 people 2 spoke English and I spoke (poor would be favorable) Spanish 3 times. This was a tourist section of France!

Well, since then my Norwegian appreciation has skyrocketed, and I decided that I wanted to speak with a funny rhythm, and "inhale" to mean yes (Swedes, I am ESPECIALLY looking at you! If you even notice that anymore...;))

I hope to visit all of the Nordic countries after I get out of college (but buy the tickets in college because they sell them so cheap! 4000 NRK roundtrip).

Am I the only non Nordic here?

How many people are trying to learn the 3rd most useless official language of the industrialized world? (I think Gaelic and Icelandic have few speakers?)

    So in a way, I guess I am a freak. :p
