CT What's with the B-wing Hate?

I LOVE the B-wing, anyone else? As a kid was a cool toy/ship to play with. As I got older and talked star wars with friends I found out the B-wing was either hated or forgotten about. WHAT??? Even now Hasbro released a Bwing to Kmart and it most places it did not sell. Saw them marked down from $30 to $10! Back in the old days the B-wing figure did not sell great but it was the end of the line. It is one of the cheapest and easy to find POTF figures. Most of the other POTF go for new $100, it tops out at like $30 I think

 

It's not featured very prominently in ROTJ, it's a bit of a confusing design, plus it doesn't simply sit upright. Not factors that are going to help toy sales.

I'm surprised Kenner didn't go with the more conservatively designed A-wing for the ROTJ line instead, rather than holding off until the Droids line.

 

Not hate, I don't think, just indifference.

I thought the description of the toy was neat but I never had it and have yet to see it in action. I think by the time it came out, my STAR WARS toy collecting was waning. The Y-Wing finally came out around the same time or later and I preferred to get one of those.

 

The A-Wing is my favorite but the B-Wing is still pretty darn cool.

Does anyone know why it is called B-Wing? It doesn't look like the High Galactic Alphabet "B" or Aurebesh "Berek".

Loved the B-Wing, I wished it was featured more

 

I don't hate it. It's preety cool & all. Kinda slow in the Rogue Squadron games, though, but still better than Slave 1.

 

Well I never 'hated' it (it's a spaceship, not an irritating or evil character), but as I pointed out above, there's a few reasons it wasn't as popular as the others. I never even saw any for sale in the old days (in Australia, we didn't seem to get the whole line - rarely got some of the less popular vehicles or playsets).

The B-wing pilot figure always just seemed like an X-wing pilot with wonkier looking headgear. I had one, though, so I'll always have a soft spot for the B-wing fighter, even if I never had the vehicle.

 

B wings are good for attacking capital ships, but not so much for dogfighting.

 

I don't have a problem with the B-wing, or the Y-wing for that matter, I just have a tremendous preference for the X-wing and the A-wing.

 

Nothing wrong with a B-wing...but it's kinda on the chunky side of the starfighter scale, and doesn't offer much protection considering it's size. It sure isn't a snubfighter! On the other hand, it offers the most firepower of any starfighter in the rebel fleet at the time. Plus, they're hard to maintain. All those gyros and power converters...

 

I love the b-wing remember being able to fly it in rogue squadron games on GameCube shame if didn't get more screen time always remember that picture of Death Star 2 in background with a star destroyer about to blow with 3 b-wings at forefront of picture

 

Agreed, it's just not as aesthetically pleasing as the others, it just seems clunky.

No, in this case it would undoubtedly be classified a Myex-girlfriend-wing.

 

It's a cool ship, I've always liked it.
