So you don't want them at every single airport? Great, just let us have them at none of the airports and let us be done with it. If it doesn't matter to you, let's just go back to the way we used to do it and not worry about underwear bombers any more than we worry about body cavity bombers. You have a problem with that?

It isn't "Us vs. Them" it is those of us who have an opinion expressing it rather than passive agressively denying you are making an argument or having an opinion while making an argument. KK just took down something on "his" side that was wrong and beat you to the punch.

Or you could just nuke 'em all from orbit.

I have it on good authority that, it is in fact, the only way to be sure.

This topic really upsets me so I am not entirely coherent. I think it is rediculous that we are forced to give up our sense of humanity in order to visit family. This is not international travel. This is domestic travel where people are being subjected to grotesque pat downs or scanning in machines where the long term safety has not been determined. Even when coming in from international flights, people are not subject to this nonsense, so why are treating US citizens as though they are terrorists? The people who are the highest risk should be screened through interview and then scans, bag searches, etc. We should be using our intelligence to weed out those who intend to do harm. When someone's dad calls in and says he is a threat, listen to him. Don't let the guy fly and then subject people to craziness when the guy you were previously warned about turns out to be a bad guy. So far all of the policies enacted by TSA have been in reaction to a threat and not in anticipation to a threat. I shudder for the day the butt bomber shows up with explosives in his rectum. herp derp.

The fact that there isn't an opt-out (i.e. leaving without flying) is also rediculous.

Reposted from other thread by PublicEnemy:

MINNEAPOLIS - Former Minnesota Gov. Jesse Ventura sued the Department of Homeland Security and the Transportation Security Administration on Monday, alleging full-body scans and pat-downs at airport checkpoints violate his right to be free from unreasonable searches and seizures.

Ventura is asking a federal judge in Minnesota to issue an injunction ordering officials to stop subjecting him to "warrantless and suspicionless" scans and body searches.

The lawsuit, which also names Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano and TSA Administrator John Pistole as defendants, argues the searches are "unwarranted and unreasonable intrusions on Governor Ventura's personal privacy and dignity . and are a justifiable cause for him to be concerned for his personal health and well-being."

According to the lawsuit, Ventura received a hip replacement in 2008, and since then, his titanium implant has set off metal detectors at airport security checkpoints. The lawsuit said that prior to last November officials had used a non-invasive hand-held wand to scan his body as a secondary security measure.

But when Ventura set off the metal detector in November, he was instead subjected to a body pat-down and was not given the option of a scan with a hand-held wand or an exemption for being a frequent traveler, the lawsuit said.

The lawsuit said the pat-down "exposed him to humiliation and degradation through unwanted touching, gripping and rubbing of the intimate areas of his body."

It claims that under TSA's policy, Ventura will be required to either go through a full-body scanner or submit to a pat-down every time he travels because he will always set off the metal detector.

Ventura, who was Minnesota governor from 1999 through 2002 and is now the host of the television program "Conspiracy Theory," did not immediately return a phone message seeking comment.

Much props for updating this thread. But it appears the american public has stayed true to form and essentially "gotten over it". We're on to new outrages (or old outrages) like gun control, why precogs didn't see the AZ shooting coming, gays in the military etc.
