    I would give it an 8 if only cause there centre of the book could have been edited down a bit and it would not have made much of a difference to the overall plot.
    ie they to a planet and blow stuff up then do the same thing at another with no real devolpment.

    That said I do think Allstons are better than Stackpole cause like the above said you care about the charachters while they are also shown as human and not supermen ie Super Horn to the rescue.
