I generally only go for trades myself. I get frustrated reading part of the story and then having to wait a month. I'd rather wait months inbetween each arc so I can read it all at once. Although the new X-Factor has started me buying comics on a monthly basis again and I fear it may spill over into other titles as well.

Plus, one of my best friends reads tons of books and he buys them monthly. So when I have a weak moment in willpower and I just have to know what happens next ASAP I turn to him.

    I generally read:
anything in the Ultimate Marvel universe
    anything X-Men
    anything Star Wars
    Y: The Last Man
    most of the Decimation stuff
    Walking Dead

I think I get somewhere in the neighborhood of 53 titles a month. Among the ones I can remember off the top of my head

    Ultimate X-Men
    Ultimate Spider man
    The Ultimates
    Ultimate Fantastic Four
All the X-Men Titles (X-Men, uncanny, Asthonishing)
    All Star Batman & Robin
    All Star Superman
    Supergirl
    Superman/Batman
    Fantastic Four
    Amazing Spiderman
    New Avengers
    Star Wars Republic
    Star Wales Tales

Like I said I get like over 50 titles a month.
The collection my brother & I share goes back to the early 1960's.

I'm also a trade reader -- that way I only have to think about one release date, rather than a monthly release that may or may not happen. (Case in point: Ultimates2, which I had been getting in singles, but am now back to waiting for the trade, since Marvel can barely get it published even bi-monthly any more. As usual, sad to say.)

The only title I'm getting in singles is Rex Libris, from Slave Labor Graphics, which is supposedly about the secret world of librarians. (Being a librarian myself, I find it highly amusing.) This may sound boring, but Rex and the Middletown library staff get to travel through space to retrieve overdue library books, deal with literary characters who come to life, and have a boss who's an ex-Egyptian god. Plus, they all get combat training. No, really.

Trades of series that I pick up:
    • Ultimate Marvel (USpider-man, UX-Men, UFantastic Four, Ultimates, and any related minis or cross-overs)

    • Occasional X-men titles

    • Olympus Heights, by Kevin Munroe (Really amusing and excellent updating of characters from Greek mythology, it's now complete and collected in one trade)

    • Marvel's Runaways series

I don't buy anything anymore. At one time it was:

    X-men
    Uncanny X-Men
    Wolverine
    X-Factor
    Excalibur
    Punisher
    Punisher's War Journal
    Punisher War Zone
    Spider-man
    Iron Man
    Batman
    GI Joe
    Marvel Comics Presents
and whatever comics Frank Castle happened to be appearing in that month

Then I stopped and came back for:

    Punisher
    Star Wars Republic
    Star Wars Empire
    GI Joe
    Transformers

And now I'm back at nothing again.

    Amazing Spider-Man
    Astonishing X-Men
    Fantastic Four
    New Avengers
    Runaways

    Y: The Last Man

I expect to add a few more titles by the end of the summer.

    Amazing spiderman
    Fantastic four
    book of lost souls
    Squadron supreme

At one time I used to buy:

    Wolverine
    Uncanny X-Men
    X-Men
    New X-Men
    Ultimate X-Men
    Exiles
    Star Wars

Then I moved to a town that didn't have a comic book store (for like four years but one recently moved in just down the street from me) and I had to give it up. Plus it was getting really expensive. Now I mostly buy the Star Wars TPBs. I'm also thinking about picking up the SW Legacy comics as they come out.

    Uncanny X-Men
    X-Men
    Astonishing X-Men
    New X-Men
    Ultimate X-Men
    X-Factor
    Exiles
    X-Men Limited Series.

    It's a pretty one-sided thing, I would say.

Oh and I might get New Excalibur, Wolverine, Cable & Deadpool, Ms. Marvel-any one or a combination of those.

Okay, you're really starting to sound like a comic elitist, what is up with you?

Book elitist, more specifically. I'm not too conversant with comics. Not a viable option for Aussies and its high costs. Imports are cheaper, but in bulk and not that Voltron guy. I'm specialising in Star Wars comics, aside from one Song of Ice and Fire one.

I'll also automatically reject anything polluted with dwarfs, elfs, dragons and other dispicable fantasy cliches. Farmboy studs and super swords are a second category of disapproval, but not completely enough to dismiss. I have read dragons, but they are very background in the Malazan series. Truthfully, if a kingdom's emblem is even dragon, the author has lost instant business with me. It tells me for even such a minor thing you can't show something different, new.

Okay . . . Targaryens aside, too. I have a love-hate relationship with Martin. What's very good is balanced by some very irritating flie bites. :p
