There are about 5-6 people I went to school with who I still keep in touch with. The ones who I don't keep in touch with keep that status for good reason.

i read tunick's post and just assumed it said, "if i go, i ain't showering". i had to look again to determine that was not in fact what it said.

I do have a small shred of self respect, tom.

Had my 10 year a couple of years ago. I still enjoyed it even with FB (though there was a lot of 'you should send your kids here!' from the school officials). Dunno about 20 though, I'll probably barely remember most of these people.

My 10th would be this year, and a friend of mine has just started trying to look into organizing something; personally, I'd absolutely go. Not sure what'd happen, but I'd rather go than not. And there's a lot of people that I didn't keep in contact with well after that I wouldn't mind better contact with. Especially just as a lot of people headed elsewhere, what with college and all. I've seen some of them since, and when I run into them, I do enjoy it.

The only bummer about the structure is that there's a lot of people I'd like to be in better contact with that were a year or two older or younger, and reunions don't handle that well.

I went to my 10th in 2011, and it was a lot of fun seeing folks I hadn't seen in a decade. Only ~50 of us showed up (out of 250 graduates), plus a few spouses, so the bar where we all met had plenty of room for us.

My class reunion would be so boring. It would just be my twin and I since we were homeschooled.

Joking aside,I would go if at least two of my good friends are going.I wouldn't want go to a party that was full of people that I was indifferent to or I hated.

I skipped my 20-year for two reasons.

    1. It was unnecessarily expensive.
    2. All the people who I would want to see again weren't going.

The only true beauty of facebook is the fact that I was able to know these things. Some actual high school friends and I got together on our own for a few drinks after that. That was really fun.

Yeah, I think planning your own custom reunion via FB, or whatever, would be the way to go. That way, you see the people you actually want to see.

You should go. It's not the ones that you know about that make it memorable, its the ones you wouldnt think about. True facts: our 25th was last year and there was a girl that was shy, quiet, and nerdy back in the day. She's still a nerd, but she's also a pole dance instructor in NY.

My tenth was last year....I didn't go, but saw facebook photos of it....only about 20 people showed up. Of those, maybe 12 were classmates, the others were spouses/s.o.'s.

My school is small, so they have to combine classes to make it a reunion of more than 9 people.

To achieve this they combine classes that are 5 years apart.

It doesn't seem to occur to them that, rather than with people who graduated a "multiple of 5" years ago, people want be reunited with people they might actually know...

This year, they're doing a "decade" reunion, everybody from 1980-1990.

I couldn't show my face at an 80's reunion. People would be so disappointed... I haven't had a bleached rat tail in decades.

So awkward update that might sway me away from going. One of the girls I dated briefly back then sent me a PM saying she's really looking forward to seeing me again and "reliving old times" or something like that. Problem is, I barely remember that relationship at all. Then, as I was looking at the 150+ people participating in the thread, I realized that I only recognize like 10! But a lot more than that seem to remember me. I've found myself accepting friend requests from HS classmates in the past because I can't bring myself to say "I have no idea who you are". The idea of having to face this problem in real life is a bit terrifying.

I feel like a terrible person.
